Realistic, positive, and hopefully attainable.

With the exception of #1, the same things were true for the skins as well. And as to #1, that in itself is concerning, preseason or not. And as far as #5 goes, our starters played about a quarter longer than theirs did. I understand where you are coming from and yes, it is only preseason. But to the people who think the Bills were going to have a big turnaround this season, that game was a punch in the gut (or a little further south). Rationalizations always abound after the Bills play like that. Preseason or regular season. But if the roles were reversed and we put the ass whoopin on them, would you have been saying chill it is only preseason. Or "Chan just showed why he is a proven winner", or "the get tough attitude in camp is really paying off" ?

Just watched Chans press conference....

And a team that had a worse record than we did last year I believe. -
Too many bad things to make a full list, particularly when you consider our first string O played deep into the 2nd quarter, and I believe Washingtons 2nd string D played the 2nd quarter. My biggest reality check came when it occurred to me that it looked like I was watching game 17 of last season instead of a team with a new direction. Particularly the clock management in the first half. That nonsense 4th and 1 and calling a timeout, then being out of timeouts with just under 8 minutes left in the half. Jauron ball part deux. The good things I saw were the punting (still ... and thank God), the running backs looked respectable, and the biggest thing was that it was preseason game 1. Chan has not been a head coach for a while and has not been a head coach at the NFL level for a long while. I'll give him that game as a brain fart but he better by God improve before the regular season.

I have good luck with http://www.justin.tv or http://ch131.com/ for streaming. Can be hit or miss though in terms of quality. Have any friends with directv or dish? You bring the beer?

Getting angry with the media
CodeMonkey replied to VA Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True enough, but that is 1 game. And if I remember right, the media wrote that off as Sanchez sucked balls (which he did if I remember correctly). You have to start to win those games consistently, not just a "fluke" one off game. -
Yeah I think they are in some kind of pissing contest over customer pricing. NFL wants it to be on a paid tier and TW wants it to be on basic cable, or visa-verse. Another option is to switch to dish network or directv, not sure about getting it before tonight tho

Getting angry with the media

I actually didn't mean it to be an insult at all. I have always used the term geriatric in a medical context, which is simply an aged person. Seeing as how he will be 72 this season, I don't think that is out of line. December 6 as a matter of fact. Maybe the team will give him a present on the 5th and beat the Vikings? Dare to dream -
Getting angry with the media

That's all well and good for Bills fans to Billieve. But it is meaningless on a national level. Fact of the matter is that we have a geriatric rookie GM, and a aging head coach who has been bouncing around from job to job his entire career. The national media do not give a rats hairy ass if the players are "buying into" anything. And the only things that have changed so far are the drafting of Spiller, changing defensive schemes, taking TVs out of the weight room (it was a VERY slow time for this to be "news"), and wearing pads from day 1 of camp. The only thing that will, and should, make the national media stand up and take notice are when we start beating teams. In particular teams that they fawn all over like the Jets and Cheaters. Then, and only then, will they take the Buffalo Bills seriously ... and rightly so. The big question then becomes when, and if, that is likely to happen. -
Then you need to go to a bar or have a satellite dish and proper equipment to pull it in yourself.

It's that pseudo-sidearm delivery he has I think. Similar to what Tebow was/is trying to retrain himself out of.

Anyone know what time kickoff is supposed to be? BB.com says But that's when the TV coverage is supposed to start. Do they really go right into the game with no pregame BS? -

Nothing posted yet that I have seen. However if you want to scout the redskins, there supposedly is a feed from their training camp I have not tried it myself. Orbital Location - 91w Satellite - g17 Transponder- 11996 Polarity - H Symbol Rate- 6110 Resolution - SD Before you ask, there are a few more training camp feeds, but alas not the Bills. -

In a shocking move of coaching cojones, Chan Gailey runs the wildcat all game and no QB ever sees the field. 0 - 0 -

Scores in these things are almost meaningless. What is more interesting to me is how long Gailey plays what he perceives to be his starters so far. -
Only NE does.

I am a non violent guy, so no If that gun were put to my head I would have to go with the under. But that could change as early as tomorrow night -
Fighting to not respond ... but ... That is exactly where we disagree. The market has no (OK, it is the NFL so should not have any) say. The two parties are in (what should be, but apparently is not) a legally binding contract. But, if owners can opt out with no monies paid then why shouldn't the players ignore a contract as well. The market should determine a players value when, and only when, said player is not already under contract. The NFL concept of a contract is confusing to my small brain

My only point was that you cannot only look at QB rating. For example on 3rd at 15, a QB who throws a 5 yard pass may well end up with a higher QB rating than a QB that throws the 18 yard pass. But that does not mean the first QB will win more games. -
My Camp Report for Tuesday 8/10
CodeMonkey replied to FutureBillsGM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe that is the theory behind the statement of some that a back like Spiller makes the O-Line better. Of course, those screen passes have to be successful first for that to happen. We don't have long to wait now to see how that works out! -

Hmmmm show me where. All I remember saying is this: But yes, even that is below 6. However we are still in camp, not even preseason games yet. So I would not put any significant money on that. -

There is also a lot more to it than QB rating. Look at the rest of the numbers on that line. Sanchez threw twice as many TD's as Edwards .... and also twice as many INTs. It is easier to get a higher QB rating when all you do is throw short. But that does not necessarily translate into winning games.
