  1. I agree. And that may be one of the biggest problems in the NFL. There should be no profit sharing, and the TV money should either be negotiated on a individual team basis (maybe too big of a logistical headache for the networks) or divided based upon number of nationally televised games or some other measure instead of divided by 32. Merchandise deals also done on a per team basis as well. This country is capitalistic and (mainly) free market driven after all. Why not the NFL?
  2. It would seem, based on the lack of published information by the Bills and how hard they are pushing ticket sales in the media and cold calling this year, that ticket sales are down this year. How far down is anyone's guess, but it is pretty clear that they are down. Some fans may be "getting it". But overall I agree with you. There will always be a hardcore fan base in Buffalo that will buy seasons and merchandise even if the Bills didn't smell the playoffs for the next 50 years ... just as long as they stayed in Buffalo.
  3. Quotes other "expert" sources that basically say we are headed in the right direction, but we will get hammered this season. A few are calling for 2-14 even. Link
  4. Then how does a sucky team get to be a good team? Random drafts and letting your best players walk for more money elsewhere does not seem like much of a plan to me.
  5. Yes some people feel this way. I have a living will that says I do not want to be kept alive by extraordinary means. This is saying I would rather die with dignity than stay alive as a vegetable and a burden to my family. I know this is the extreme case, but by extension then some people do feel that they would have the Bills flourish elsewhere rather than be a miserable failure continually in Buffalo. It may not be your opinion or a very popular one here, but it is perfectly reasonable for some to feel this way.
  6. Well you have to admit that the Bills actually do defy free market economics to a degree! What other product can you think of that has sucked ass for 9 years and yet has a record sales year like the Bills did last year with season tickets. Plus it really isn't a free market at all. Profit sharing and a even split of TV revenue means teams aren't competing for dollars at all.
  7. Well, considering that this is Marketing-Man Brandon, and he brought in TO last year to sell tickets, my only guess is he thought the hope of a "name" coach would push people to renew their seasons. Maybe hoping the denials from said "names" would take longer than they did. I don't know, I've got no other reason that I can think of. Why else would he confirm? I can't believe he thought the Bills were actually going to get either one.
  8. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but logically the Bills must have among the lowest operating expenses in the business. Ralph has owned the Bills outright forever and hasn't forked out the money to build his own stadium or anything else that would make him take on debt. This is a debt free team, his operating expenses must be as low as they possibly can be. With profit sharing and a equal split of TV revenue, Ralph must be doing very well with the Bills. Now if profit sharing goes away (which teams that play the Bills frequently must be trying for) and the TV revenue goes proportional to a teams gate or how often they are televised, then Ralph would be in big trouble. Until then he is riding the gravy train. I'm not saying Ralph is running this team on the cheap or not. I'm just saying there is little to no chance of him going into the red with the situation as it currently is.
  9. True dat. Paraphrasing ... We suck until we prove otherwise.
  10. On Twitter, a Key Flaw in N.F.L. Drug Tests If they want the players to be able to juice, they should just allow it and be done with it rather than pretending not to allow it.
  11. Unfortunately no. It was mostly my daughter taking the pictures so that isn't what she was looking for Lots of pics of Trent and CJ though
  12. Pictures from camp 2010
  13. Nice Spiller jersey lady
  14. Agreed! My kids generally don't have much of their voices left after the game. They cheer on the scrubs in the 4th quarter just as much as the starters! I just wish it was a afternoon game. But this way there is fireworks after the game!
  15. We already bought ours, but thanks for the generous offer
  16. Hmmm. Thought about it a bit more and I don't think so. The offense did look better for sure. But the points were on a very nice run by Spiller, on a home run due to a huge defensive blunder, and on a nice pick-6. But otherwise things didn't look bad, but not great to me either. Remember too that for a while in the 2nd quarter our first string was going against their backups. Hence the 80. Defense aside from the pick-6 looked better than last week, but not a whole lot. I stand by my earlier post. Of course I am not a recognized authority on the subject matter either
  17. Starters only: Offense 80% (2 breakout plays but the rest was just OK) Defense 70% (long way to go still) Average 75% Coaching was much improved as well.
  18. Bills feed for tonights game G17 (Galaxy 17 orbital position 91° W) Ku band Transponder 13 11960 Mhz Horizontal Symbol Rate 24740 Working and HD as well, nice
  19. Those cheating bastards! This would appear to be the the thread to keep an eye on for tonights game.
  20. I don't buy this really at all. The colt starters want to play well and shake the rust off. They aren't just out to survive. And for the backups, they are fighting for their lives. Lots of people are due to be demoted to the practice squad or outright cut. No bigger motivation than that. This is the same motivation our players had last Friday. It's just that our players didn't have the skills to impress anyone. Not buying it. No offense but it sounds like you are trying to talk yourself into optimism
  21. I guess that line makes some sense if the Bills starters will play the first half and Indy's starters only a series or two. But man, betting money on a preseason game is a crap shoot at best.
  22. I doubt Trent will pull that off against the Indy starters. He might have a shot in the 2nd quarter against Indy's backups though.
  23. You don't necessarily need a BUD (Big Ugly Dish) but the Senator is correct. And thank God for that ... my wife would never tolerate one of those in the yard! It is a feed intended only for ESPN to get clips from. You see whatever the cameraman is shooting at the time, plus generally a few interviews (raw, before they are edited so you may hear the occasional F bomb for example). You might see interesting footage or some guy scratching his ass, you never know There is a feed from most teams camps. That usually isn't known until at best a few hours before the broadcast when they activate the network feed for testing. Sometimes as little as one hour before the game. This is a good place to monitor starting a few hours before the game. Ricks Wildfeeds
  24. Not "dish" as in dish network. It is the feed that ESPN (in this case) uses to get clips from camp to use in their broadcasts. Meant really only for them, but anyone with the proper setup can tune it in. You would need a satellite dish along with the proper equipment to be able to tune non dish network or directv satellites. Basically if you have to ask that question, you don't have the right equipment
  25. Just noticed this. Haven't tried it so I do not know if it still works or not. ESPN at Bills camp G17 11972 H 6111 FYI G17 (Galaxy 17) is at orbital position 91° W
