  1. 1) Bills fans have been burned a great deal by blind optimism. Remember "Yes we Chan!". 2) Gailey also had everyone singing his praises when he was hired. Cowher and Jerrah to name two. No one of consequence will speak bad of a coaching hire as it could come back to haunt them. 3) Marrone was 25-25 at SU. I know there can be more to it than record, but to date he is .500 for his lifetime as a head coach. I choose to think he is a good hire and will probably make a good HC. But my optimism is kept in check by the facts above,
  2. Well she is a bit old for Sanchize. She is out of high school after all.
  3. I have told bosses they were wrong when I was absolutely sure they were. Personally as a boss I have no use for sniveling yes-men. I need people who can think for themselves and don't have their noses up my butt.
  4. True. And some are pleased always no matter what. It takes all kinds. But remember when Gailey was hired 3 short years ago ... "Mega-mind offense", "Jerrahs biggest mistake", endorsed by the Chin, blah blah blah. Guarded optimism would seem to be prudent in this case in my opinion.
  5. I believe I heard him say in the presser that he wanted his coordinators to have NFL experience which would fly in the face of what you stated unless the cuse OC and DC had NFL experience before going to cuse.
  6. Interesting wording in the text. Doug Marrone has been selected as the new head coach Not signed, or even Doug Marrone is the new head coach, but selected. Maybe he hasn't signed on the dotted line yet so they have to word it that way. Or maybe I'm over analyzing I wanted someone from the college ranks instead of a NFL retread and I do not know enough about individual college coaches to prefer one over another, so I'm happy. Now sign good OC/DC while other teams are still floundering over getting a HC!
  7. Maybe because he who hires a HC first gets the early jump on hiring OC/DC. I agree in principle. A mediocre 25-25 at a school like Syracuse being the highlight of his resume (I also believe he wasn't the primary OC for the Saints) leaves me uninspired. But I always preferred someone from a college to a failed NFL retread. So I'm ready to see what he can do rather than call him a bust before he is even signed
  8. Looks like it might be true after all. http://www.nfl.com/n...address-offense
  9. Because he is the GM in waiting I'd have to figure he was completely on board with the decision. Assuming it's true that is.
  10. Cowher walking away from his nice cushy network gig is something I'd have to see to believe.
  11. An arrogant prick is the anti-Jauron/Gailey. Wouldn't mind a little anti-Jauron/Gailey to be honest.
  12. Maybe the Cards will end up with Chan. Last man standing who will take the job like 3 years ago
  13. To appease the fans that want Kelly. They could say "We tried" maybe? Of course we know that would never work. The cries of "Ralph ... er ... Russ is cheap!" would be deafening.
  14. Of course not. No one else but Buffalo was interested 3 years ago. They failed miserably in Buffalo. One of the teams would have to be incredibly desperate to bother even talking to either one of them. I am a little surprised though that Jerrah isn't talking to Gailey to try and correct his biggest mistake ever
  15. If players on your team cannot keep themselves "interested" as professionals for a 6 month stretch it's time to get some new hungry players.
  16. Skooby running his mouth again! ;0
  17. At least for 3 years
  18. Hmmm I guess I forgot category 4 ... SB before a new coach is even hired!
  19. Exactly. No matter who the Bills end up with you can count on 3 things ... 1) Some people will love him, will be amazed at how such a great coach was ever available in the first place, and start making SB reservations. Just look as posts here back when Gailey was first hired to see plenty of examples. 2) Some people will hate him because he obviously sucks, why else would he come to Buffalo. 3) The majority of people will wait and see what develops because this is not their first time at the Buffalo Bills rodeo. I hope that after so many misses that the Bills get a good coaching staff this time around and we aren't in this same place 3 years from now. But I fall into category 3 above.
  20. Or maybe his Mother raised him right and he is polite. But we will see when we see.
  21. Someone going to a game at the Ralph might end up with the same opinion of Bills fans.
  22. We will see. There are good candidates but also a lot of openings. I'm not sold on Buffalo being much more attractive than last time, but I hope you are right
  23. Actually we do agree They hired Gailey, a guy off of the mainstream radar, because he would take the job. The Bills could find themselves in the same situation this time around.
  24. Much like Chan Gailey heralded as an offensive genius when he signed and up to as recently as the beginning of this season, Ryan Fitzpatrick??? It's all one big crap shoot. They make their best guess and hope it works out. Seems like the Bills have been in that mode forever I know, but there it is.
  25. Sometimes the long shot comes in. But I get the feeling the Bills will wind up either with Lovie, or someone not on the mainstream radar (like Gailey was).
