Bills' Blackout Threats Are a Joke

You get what you pay for? -
That just means Vegas looked at how the money was being bet and felt they needed to entice people a little to bet on the Bills.

Jets @ Bills Week 11 - Talk about it here
CodeMonkey replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i was channel surfing last night and ended up on a Jets homer show on MSG I think and they were talking about Sundays game. Of course all the Jets homers pick the Jets to win "easily" (struck me as funny because they sounded like a lot of posters here last week before the Stillers game ). Their reasoning being all the Bills can do is run, and the only reason they ran successfully in the first game was due to missed tackles by Jets defenders (and showed examples). So assuming the Jets tackle correctly this time, easy Jets win. Then the place I had lunch today had ESPN on and they were talking about the game as well. They also picked the Jets unanimously. Their reasoning was it is going to be a defense dominated game on both sides and be low scoring. EJ Manuel can't pass well to begin with, and add to that the fact that Woods and SJ13 were out means the Bills would have to run. Ryan knowing this stops the run and the Bills struggle to score. The Jets manage to score a little and win the game. The Jets homers were funny and it is easy to discount them. But what the ESPN guys said seemed accurate to me. I guess we will need some good breaks and a pic-6 or two from the D. -
I just don't know what this team is anymore

Ahhhh grasshopper, you are now truly a Buffalo Bills fan -
So Spiller has shown no capability to be consistent when being handed the ball, can't pass protect to save his life, and Marrone does not want to use him in the passing game. Awesome. I still believe he would be better as a slot receiver, but Marrone should know more than me so lets hope he is right.

Yup, you can get them in Webster (Rochester area) at the Noco gas station while they last. -

As per Buffalo news earlier today, about 3500 left and they got another 24 hour extension. -
Wow you obviously have a lot higher opinion of SJ13 than I do. But that aside, Woods is out, SJ13 is probably out, but if not at least crippled.

I still believe in EJ Manuel
CodeMonkey replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not much to disagree with here. And I sure wouldn't mind seeing the entire team get better week to week! But it's still the improvement that I will be looking for, not W's. Not that there is anything wrong with W's! -

Wins/Losses are meaningless the rest of this season. I know many disagree and need instant gratification, but I just need to see marked improvement from Manuel week to week for the remainder of this season without exception. And lets face it, improving on last weeks performance should be real damn easy. If this does not happen, I am going to begin to think that the people that called the Manual draft a reach last summer may have had good reason to do so. -
Bills contact NFL about scheduling disadvantage
CodeMonkey replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's Brandon so it is sales/marketing related. Given the current standings and remaining tickets left this season, my guess is that he is trying to build a "us against the world" mentality among Bills fans in an attempt to sell more tickets the remainder of this season and for seasons renewals next season. Otherwise he would not have waited until more than halfway through the season to do it. -

Joyner and Schefter (who is tied for last place overall ). Berman doesn't pick. -

Spread is Bills - 1.5 ... so half of the normal 3 point home field advantage. CBS "experts" have it a clean sweep for the Jets, with and without the spread. ESPN has it 7 - 2 Jets with 4 not having picked yet. -

Hmm. First off, any given Sunday. But Manuels favorite target is out. SJ13 is out or hobbling. Ryan versus Marrone. The Bills coming off a putrid performance in every aspect of the game. The Bills are effectively out of the playoffs while the Jets are very much in the hunt. "Not happening" indeed. -
Happens in Buffalo as well. And even this season the Bills ran special deal promotions leading up to the deadline, and had the deadline extended once, to get to a sell out. Speaking as someone who prefers the couch experience to the game day experience, I don't care how they get the sell out so long as they get one

This is his 4th year and hasn't figured out what you expect a first round RB to figure out in their first season, namely how to run north instead of east/west. He will break the occasional long one which can give him a very good YPC, but his overall effectiveness is usually not very good. If he needs space to be effective, and it certainly seems like he does, I'd consider turning him into a slot receiver. Have SJ13 work with him the rest of this season and see if that works. He does not block well either, so using Spiller as a RB has not been successful overall. What have they got to lose at this point.

What do all these NFL qb's have in common?
CodeMonkey replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm no QB expert, but i haven't seen anything on the field that makes me think the way you do. You take a look at Luck his rookie season and yeah, he had his rookie moments, but his mechanics (throwing motion as well as footwork) were sound from the beginning and you could see that after some experience he was probably going to be a good one. i don't see any of that in Manuel, at least so far. Way too early to call him a bust of course, but he sure seems to have an awfully long way to go. -
Right plays called? He is supposed to be a running back. They take handoffs as their primary way to get touches. Spiller can't/won't run straight ahead. He likes to bounce it outside instead. That worked for him in college, but this is the NFL. He has the capability to break the big plays. But more often than not he runs for little to no gain, or less. That's just what he is, not a workhorse north and south back like Fred or Lynch. Gailey had some success getting Spiller some space, but even he struggled to figure out ways to make that happen. And as far as I can tell, Gailey was a better OC than Hackett is, so far at least.
