Golisano to bid on Bills & propose new WS staduim
CodeMonkey replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw an interview on the local news with Golisano and he denied any business discussions with Congel regarding the Bills at all. It seemed to be a media inference that he denied. He did question the whole renovations thing like you are saying. The way he said it he was questioning the due diligence (or competence) of Erie County. He was questioning why renovations were being done on the Ralph at the same time the NFL was stating a new stadium was necessary. In his opinion based on what the NFL was saying, the county was flushing money down the toilet. -
WEDG Report: Rogers meets with Cuomo & Bills
CodeMonkey replied to ET1062's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is really no reason for it to go to court until the teams tries to move. Erie county would bring the Bills to court if the Bills wanted to break the lease. So at least in my mind the order would be (assuming a owner wanted to move): 1) Trust agrees to sell 2) NFL approves sale 3) NFL approves relocation 4) Erie county brings the Bills to court and the fun really begins. -
I didn't know this. If he also owned the Bills would that be a conflict of interest situation ... particularly when it came to Dareus for example? Also the timing and the amount of the sale are indeed curious. But I wouldn't think he would need to, or would want to, liquidate that asset to buy the Bills unless his offer for the Bills was accepted. Which by all accounts could not have happened yet.

Bills trying to change state law to sell beer at 11am
CodeMonkey replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought that about Sunday mornings as well. ... particularly when you can go out to Hammers and have some that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. -
Couldn't have said it better myself

What if EJ Stinks or Gets Injured Again?
CodeMonkey replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. And obviously Whaley and Marrone aren't terribly worried about Manuel or they would have not traded next years first round draft pick for Watkins. They know more than we do so don't worry, be happy at this point -

Part of it? What other reason is there? They should be able to sell it whenever. I know that you used to not be able to buy beer in supermarkets before noon on Sundays as well. Supposedly this was to encourage going to church instead of drinking. Much like how bars used to be closed on election day to encourage voting. But I'm pretty sure I can go into wegmans Sunday mornings now and buy beer, though honestly it has been a long time since I would have tried so I could be wrong. -

Golisano to bid on Bills & propose new WS staduim

That is a really good point about soccer that I had not thought of before. The playing surface of most NFL stadiums is too small to comfortably fit a regulation soccer field so If the Bills do get a new stadium then hosting a future MLS team should be considered in the design. A MLS team would be another good tenant and if the playing size is proper, if the US ever hosts the world cup or women's, or junior's world cups again Buffalo could be a viable venue. -

Nice to see Bills fans being pro-active in their panic this year. Probably best to wait until at least camp for panic mode though! -
Spikes: Buffalo Bills 'gonna shock the world'
CodeMonkey replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't expect any friction (at least public) between SJ13 and Harbaugh. In Buffalo SJ was a big fish in a small pond. In SF he is a small fish in a big pond. I would not expect any "why so serious?" moments from him in SF -

Hasn't someone said something like this the last few seasons as well? I guess some fans like this, it gets them fired up or something. I find it embarrassing when a player, particularly a new player, on a team that has been as bad for as long as the Bills have been to shoot their mouth off. I hope the entire locker room thinks it, but it just sounds foolish to see/hear it in the press now. -
Yeah I guess I should have looked at a map. About 1:10 to Hamilton from Buffalo and 50 min from Toronto to Hamilton according to Google. It still is shorter than driving to Toronto from Buffalo. But from Rochester that extra hour would be very annoying and I believe there is a significant seasons base in Rochester.

2014 Bills OTAs Part 3 (June 9th - June 12th)
CodeMonkey replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills would have to be insane to allow a player they are counting on for so much not only now but for years to come to risk significant injury that way. -
You know, that is a very interesting question and I do not have a clue as to the answer. You can't go by a poll here as this place houses many very hard core Bills fans. The more casual fans who like to go to the games might not mind. Also the drunks who just want a place to power drink might not mind either. I suspect, but don't know for sure, that the casual fans far outnumber the hard core fans any given Sunday. I think Toronto would lose a great number of current seasons holders. But just over the border in Hamilton, I just don't know. Why would you bring beer TO Canada? In fact, picking some up to bring back home with me would be a good reason to go!
-
I believe the Leafs have 11 more Stanley Cups than the Sabres. If your assumption is that I am Canadian, then I guess you cannot "really tell" at all.

1) It is obscene that the NFL is tax exempt as it is. That status should be removed immediately regardless of what happens to the Bills. 2) Minimal and would be forgotten quickly by all non Bills fans. 3) Probably. But there is more for them to dislike about Trump as an owner beyond the USFL. 4) Not a chance as the Buffalo economy stands at the moment. 5) Unknown. But if the group that owns the Leafs thinks it can be viable then it probably can be. There is a big difference in Toronto supporting the Buffalo Bills and supporting the Toronto Bills.

WEDG Report: Rogers meets with Cuomo & Bills
CodeMonkey replied to ET1062's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this would be in the hands of a judge, not a jury. And I would certainly expect a judge to be completely impartial. However that judge might need to be re-elected someday as well No local judge may want to take it for that reason and it could end up in a different court. I still hope this is all just a mental exercise. Yup good point. Sorry for contributing to the stray. Google shows no mention of this except for here, FWIW. -

It's a nit picky point, but according to a lawyer friend it would be Erie County bringing the new owners to court for violating the lease by attempting to move. if the court did not rule to force the Bills to stay put (which according to said lawyer he has never seen a court force a tenant to stay, but he also says he has not heard of anything like this involving a sports team before either so who knows) then the Bills would be forced to either pay the $400 million, or question the validity of the $400 million in which case the court could force Erie County to prove that much in damages. But your main point is correct though in that it is definitely not a buyout. -

Absolutely. Every Bills fan subscriber call up and cancel their subscription stating their reason is they refuse to read a paper that has Sully working for it. -

I remember being at a Microsoft developers conference years ago and various product managers and marketing dudes walked out on stage to speak in their expensive suits. The final speaker was Bill Gates, and he walked out in jeans, golf shirt, and sneakers. People were chuckling and joking with each other about it. Gates stopped, looked around and asked "Who do I have to impress?" -
Wanna buy Ralph Wilson's art collection?
CodeMonkey replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not at all. If the executors(s) know assets are going to be liquidated there is no reason to wait. One less thing to do later. When I was the executor as soon as the attorney had all the paperwork in order with the state declaring me the executor (took a couple days) and bank accounts were set up etc. I was free to get to work liquidating the assets. I can't think of a reason for Mr. Wilsons executor(s) to wait on this, can you? -

I do not know if she is the executor of the estate or not and it actually does not matter in this case. i also do not know what, if anything, was specifically left to her in Mr. Wilsons Will. But assuming these paintings are part of the estate (not the trust, two different things generally) and that Mrs. Wilson is not the only beneficiary, what I said should be correct.
