  1. But won on goal differential by 3 goals and they knew it when they were still on the field. They did back in, based primarily by Germany beating Portugal by 4 goals. But our team is mainly comprised of "also ran" players so just advancing out of arguably the most difficult group is a nice accomplishment. So I don't mind some celebrating.
  2. I certainly hope the Bills are closer to being relevant than they have been for the past 14 years.
  3. I would just hate to see well intentioned Bills fans get fleeced. Kickstarter groups are generally out to fund development of a product of some kind. The BFA has no hope at this stage of the game of doing anything productive regarding new ownership. I just hope that if they do end up soliciting donations that they are responsible enough to make it abundantly clear and truthful as to what they intend to do with the money.
  4. I think a lot of that is due to the fact that NBC among others are now broadcasting a lot of English Premier League soccer matches both live (fairly early weekend mornings in the US) and replays. The quality of these games is so much above MLS that Americans finally have a chance to see how the game should be played more than once every 4 years. Heh
  5. Granted the difference between 1.1 and 1.2 billion does not look like much when you see the numbers in writing. But if you were one of the beneficiaries believe me 100 million is an awful lot of money to leave on the table.
  6. Generally speaking Joe is correct. And the "commitment as trustees" is exactly as he describes. However we do not know, and will probably never know, what if anything was written into the trust that would benefit a owner that intends to keep the team in WNY. I personally don't think there is anything in the trust like that, otherwise the Bills would not have pursued such a restrictive lease (there would be no point to it if the trust specified the team stay in WNY). But as I said, we will probably never know for sure.
  7. Yeah the new coach who is German got several German players who qualify to play for the US as well to play for him on the US team. I think you tend to see that in all competitions where countries are represented such as the Olympics. There aren't enough world class players raised in the US yet to field a competitive team. You will see a lot of MLS players on the US roster which is simply not good enough. MLS is like a D-League at this point. You only play there if you are not good enough to play anywhere better, or if you are getting too old to stay in the better leagues. There aren't enough American coaches of high enough quality to compete at the world level either. That's why they hired the German coach who is very good.
  8. If it is supposed to be a bidding process with a NDA in place, this would appear to be highly unethical and potentially illegal. But like you, I am flying blind as well.
  9. You are right of course in that this is a Bills fan board and most are not just Bills fans, but tackle football fans in general. What's humorous, at least to me though, is when someone who is a fan of tackle football calls another sport "slow".
  10. As others have stated, we do not know the terms of the trust. And we may never know. Typically the trustee would be required to take the largest offer and would be monitored by the state the trust was setup in (generally the state where the person lived). However, the sale of a billion dollar NFL team by a trust is hardly a typical situation.
  11. All true, at least for the moment except for the last line. The same amount of people care, even in the US. You just won't have to hear about it nearly as much.
  12. I can't imagine a generic comment like that goes against any NDA, though I have not seen it.
  13. He makes one good play, one !@#$ing good play all game and look what happened My son is off from school and is looking forward to the game Thursday, but I strongly suspect both sides will take it easy and play for the draw. Germany and the US both have a few guys banged up and a easy walkthrough to match play would do them both good.
  14. I realize that is largely tongue in cheek, but I think the reason so many in NYC seem to support Arsenal is because YES (the NY Yankee network) must have some kind of contract with that team as they show a lot of games as well as broadcast (over and over it seems) shows about the team. So pretty much in NYC any Yankee fan who happens to follow soccer as well is likely to support Arsenal. He might, I believe he is from around there somewhere, right? But will Cavs fans want him back? They were, and still pretty much are, pretty pissed at him.
  15. Should be an interesting bidding war now that he is opting out of Miami.
  16. Am I supposed to **** all over your point now? Because I really can't.
  17. Sun, July 13, 3:00 PM on ABC. No more so than the strain of maintaining the air of an aficionado of tackle football.
  18. You are way off in this. Just because they are dominant in one sport is by no means a guarantee they would be dominant in another had they trained for it. Particularly when the sports in question, [tackle] football and football [soccer], require such different abilities. Could the US develop world class soccer players? Absolutely, and we are already starting to. For example, Clint Dempsey has been playing in one of the best leagues in the world for years and the US goalie, Tim Howard, is widely considered to be one of the top 5 (at least) in the world. Your "our sport is better and nothing else matters" mentality is common, unfortunately, among many Americans. Things are changing, albeit it at a snails pace it seems. There is room for all sports I believe. The US is big enough, diverse enough, and driven enough not only to dominate tackle football (which is not difficult as we are the only ones playing ) but to have dominant soccer teams and players as well. I look forward to the day when that is completely realized.
  19. I'm not sure, could be that Toronto is considered in the Bills "region", who knows. But MLSE is smart enough to know the rules and I'm sure they wouldn't be involved in the process at all if they were not eligible to own the team.
  20. That is obviously ridiculous on many levels. Besides, I have more faith in JBJ keeping the Bills in Buffalo long term than I do Trump. Trump probably does not have the finances to break the lease so he would keep them here for the 6 years. But as soon as his people ran the numbers after that and saw how much money he could make elsewhere, the Bills would be off like a prom dress.
  21. I applaud your staunch and unwaivering defense of the "iron clad" lease sir
