  1. Just a couple questions

    1. I thought Richardson or Tannehill being there at 10 gave us the greatest chance for a trade back but now a doubt either one drops- so are there ant other players that the Bills wouldn't want but another team would trade up for.

    2. If Cleveland were to take Tannehill at four is there any chance Miami takes Weeden at 8

    3. is DeCastro the player with least bust potential

    4. Ever year there seems to be one highly rated player who falls, who is that player this year

    1. I think Claiborne, Richardson, and Blackmon (depending upon what shakes out with the QB's) all have a chance of dropping to #10. I also think Floyd, DeCastro, and Kuechly might draw some trade-up interest from teams if they make it to #10.

    2. I highly doubt Miami would take Weeden at #8. I honestly think they are going to be content with Garrard/Moore going into this season, and are in a rebuilding mode. I call it "blow for Barkley."

    3. DeCastro, IMO is one of 5 or 6 players who are "can't miss" prospects in this draft. I would include Luck, Griffin, Richardson, Kalil, and Claiborne in that category. That said, I wouldn't be sad if we took DeCastro at #10...the guy is going to be an all-pro, and interior line depth is a good thing to have.

    4. I honestly think Quinton Coples will free fall into the very late 1st round....maybe even early 2nd round. Yes, this draft class is lacking quality pass-rushing DE's, but this guy has too many question marks.

  2. 1st Round, 10th Pick – Buffalo trades pick to Cardinals for 13th pick and 3rd Round pick #80, so Cardinals can draft David DeCastro before the Chiefs. With the 13th pick in the draft the Bills select Cordy Glenn, G/T, Georgia

2nd Round, 41st Pick - Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska

3rd Round, 71st Pick – Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State

3rd Round, 80th Pick from Cardinals – Marvin Jones, WR, California

4th Round, 105th Pick – Dwight Bentley, CB, Louisiana - Lafayette

4th Round, 124th Pick from Baltimore – Andrew Datko, OT, Florida State

5th Round, 144th Pick – Tank Carder, ILB, TCU

5th Round, 147th Pick from Seattle – David Molk, C, Michigan

    6th Round, 175th Pick – Matt Daniels, S, Duke

7th Round, 215th Pick – Justin Bethel, CB Presbyterian

7th Round, 251st Pick - Adrian Hamilton, DE, Prairie View A&M

I think Glenn will slide to the 2nd round, or be available via a trade back into the late-1st type situation. If this situation were to happen, I would much rather take Kirkpatrick, Gilmore, Kendall Wright or Kuechly at #13.

  3. Have been going back and forth between LT and WR. With D. Bell still not finding a team there remains a possibly he might come back.

Since we did such a great job on D so far this offseason I think the offense will get a new toy. So my first round pick would be....

    Micheal Floyd WR

Fitz needs another WR to take pressure off of Stevie. Plus he can catch balls when hes not really open. Think he will be the choice only if D.Bell is resigned. Imagine if you will Stevie, Fred, CJ, Floyd, Nelson on the field at the same time sweet.

    My alternate picks would be...

    Courtney Upshaw LB Alabama

    Luke Kuechly LB Boston College

    J. Martin LT Stanford

    Yawn

  4. who do you think will be this years breakout players?

My pick for offense is Marcus Easley and on defense because he is back to his natural position is Alex Carrington... that is if they can stay healthy

    I'll play.

On offense, I'll say that CJ Spiller has a break out year. Gets more carries, and is utilized more as a receiver. I'd like to see him get 15-20 touches per game.

BTW...I gave Chris Hairston strong consideration here. Just have a feeling about him.

On Defense, I venture to guess that Aaron Williams earns the starting CB job over McGee with Florence starting opposite him. Yes, he made some mistakes in his rookie year, but the kid has all the makings to be an absolute stud shut-down corner. With our improved pass rush, I predict he takes a huge step in that direction.

  5. Ok, Buddy you have done a decent job this off season with the defense, but if you wanna "Show Me The Baby", sign Free Agent Mike Wallace and give the Steelers our#1 at 10 overall. My reasoning is this, no matter who you draft at 10, that person has never played a down in the NFL and has about a 50/50 chance of being a bust. Mike Wallace has proven he can play at a high level and is the missing ingredient to a potent offense just like Mario was to the defense. Put Wallace along side Stevie and you now have 2 of the best that will compliment each other with different skill set. He is young and is getting better every year, can stretch a defense like very few in the NFL and will be able to for the next 5 years or so, while we make our Super Bowl run. Adding Mike Wallace will Give Coach Gailey another weapon that defenses (Jets, Pats, Fins) more trouble than they bargained for.

It's a No Brainer Buddy, you cannot lose on this one, and it will put more asses in the seats!

First of all, Pittsburgh placed a 1st round tender on RFA Wallace, meaning they have the right to counter any offer he might get from other teams. Secondly, in order to out-bid Pittsburgh, we would likely have to offer Wallace a contract in the 10-11 million/year range....a price tag we just cannot afford (if the Bills value re-signing guys like Fred, Levitre, & Byrd). So, it is not as simple as just handing over our 1st rounder to Pitt in exchange for Wallace. It's just not going to happen folks

  6. Making Levitre the permanent LT of this team is idiotic. Sorry but it's just foolish to even think that it's a good idea

    +1

I am dumbfounded that I keep seeing this suggested on this message board. Levitre is a guard folks!! Yes, he can play LT in a pinch, but he was an apparent downgrade from Bell when he was forced to take over. Why would anyone think that Levitre would be the long-term answer at LT? Idiotic is about right.

  7. I have seen Sanu a ton and he is the real deal, maybe better than Kenny Britt. Very tough after the catch.

Having said that, we also need one of the outside linebackers really badly.

Great comparison....If he ends up being as good as Kenny Britt, then he will be a steal in the 2nd round.

  8. I like all three of these players, especially Gilmore who I hope slides to us in the 2nd round. Do you think we can rule out Melvin Ingram at this point though? I just don't think we take a player at #10 to fill a position at which we already have a great deal of depth and two starters. I just don't think Ingram's talents would be best suited for 4-3 OLB. What do you all think?

  9. Can these 4-5 guys beat physical NFL DBs? He's built like Randy Moss. 6'4", 215lbs, 4.36(40), 39.5" (vertical), 11'1" (broad jump). Can any of these 4-5 guys go up and get balls high in the air? Can they do it with one hand? I don't think this guy can be dismissed and has the "potential" to end up being the best NFL WR in this years bunch regardless of draft ranking.

We have a lot of WR's with potential....need one that can actually come in and make an impact from day 1. I would rate Blackmon, Floyd, Kendall Wright, Alshon Jeffery, and possibly Sanu higher than Hill (in terms of their ability to make an impact right away). I wouldn't touch any WR's besides Blackmon or Floyd at #10. In a trade down scenario, I would value Wright of Hill in the late-first.

  10. I'd take Floyd and Wright over him....

He looks significantly slower on tape than his combine 40 time would suggest. I suppose the tape on this guy is probably misleading, however, as he was constantly having to slow down for under thrown balls. His body also looks a like it could use a little work, that is...he does not have that solid build that Floyd and Blackmon have. He might have some trouble getting of the line of scrimmage versus more physical NFL DB's.

That said...I wouldn't touch him in the first round, and I could think of 4-5 receivers I would rate over Stephen Hill.

  11. Matt Kalil

    height - 6'6"

    weight - 306 lbs

    arm length - 34 1/2 in

    hand size 10 3/8 in

STRENGTHS - Kalil is tall and has an impressive frame that he carries well. He is equally thick and strong from his upper body down through his thighs, and he has thin calves and ankles that lend well to him being a light-footed mover. He explodes off the ball every snap and gets to his destination point with ease. In the run game, he can provide a punishing first blow to keep his man off balance, and is very comfortable getting to the second level to fit on backers. He has a technically sound kick step in pass protection and slides very smoothly. He is NFL-ready in terms of using his hands and has the ability to decleat defensive ends.

WEAKNESSES -There are some concerns surrounding Kalil's ability to anchor and stall bull rushers, given his tendency to play upright. There were few examples of his anchor actually being an issue in college, but the limited level of knee bend he plays with could be a concern. He rarely snaps his hips through when blocking in the run game and is more of a mirror/positional blocker. He could have to work on his knee bend and flexibility to take on the more explosive ends in the NFL.

    Riley Reiff

    Height - 6'6"

    weight - 313 lbs

    arm length - 33 1/4"

    hand size - 10 1/8"

STRENGTHS - Reiff is a big body who rolls his hips into his man to tap into his power and explosion. In pass protection he keeps his weight even to have a good anchor and stall bull rushers. Riley has incredible body control and is a true technician working within the box. He uses his hands well, and has the flexibility to play on both sides of the line given his fluid footwork.

WEAKNESSES - Reiff is not the strongest prospect at the position, as he is more of a catch blocker in pass protection and won't have the ability to decleat any ends in the NFL. If any type of foe will give him issues at the next level, it could be heavy 3-4 defensive ends who could blow him back.

Translation: Reiff is more of a RT prospect....not at #10 thanks.

  12. Reading some NFL rumors and it appears that Visanthe Shiancoe is available and talking with NFL teams. It looks like he visited Seattle but I think Buffalo would be wise to bring him in to compliment Chandler. The guy was a pretty good TE and I think he could really help pick up the slack for what we lack at WR.

I wouldn't mind bringing in Shiancoe for a look. Why not? Everyone who says they wouldn't be interested is lying to themselves!! Any idea on what he would command in terms of compensation?

  13. Cousins played a LOT more than Osweiler in College, but as far as upside is concerned it's really not close...Cousins has back-up written all over him...He's a system guy who is an awesome leader, but not much beyond that...Osweiler can pretty much be as good as he want to be...He has all the tools...He's tall, athletic, and he really has only scratched the surface...I think when you're talking about a 4th Round Pick I'd rather take a flyer on greatness instead of drafting a guy who may or may not be better than Tyler Thigpen in 3 years...Just my opinion...

And as far as this Rounds Pick goes what it up with Trevor Guyton getting all this support? I really wonder sometimes if the word has gotten out about the Bills switching back to the 4-3? Guyton is a 3-4 End...Maybe an undersized 4-3 DT in a pinch...But we have Carrington and Spencer Johnson already...Why would The Bills want a guy like Guyton who's not a natural DE in a 4-3? Anyway...

I went with OLB Nigel Bradham and TE Rhett Ellison this Round...I like Bradham's upside, and he fits the 4-3 OLB role...I think Ellison would be a nice value-grab in the 5th...He would give The Bills some versatility and a TE who is pretty sure handed...He's not going to stretch any Defenses...But he's a solid Player who can make the Team as the 3rd TE...

But admittedly it's already getting a bit thin... ;)

You make a great point here. Cousins has developed into a pretty polished passer, and would be a safe pick to develop into a solid #2, but 6'8" 245 QB's who can throw the ball out of the stadium don't necessarily grow on trees. With the right coaching, Osweiler could be a special player.

  14. Was just watching NFLN, and across the bottom of the screen I saw scrolling Mike Mayock's top 5 cornerbacks. I was surprised to see Stephon Gilmore from South Carolina ranked above Kirkpatrick and Jenkins. I really respect Mayock as a draft analyst, and have heard a lot of great things about Gilmore. For all of you guys out there clamoring for Kirkpatrick in round 1.....what about Stephon Gilmore?

Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina, 6-1, 193. Gilmore plays with an astute awareness that makes him a dangerous defender to test. He is a vocal team leader who understands everybody's role on defense and is especially effective in zone coverage where he seems to triangulate well, tracking both the quarterback and receivers. Gilmore is aggressive both going to the ball and coming up on the run, although he could use a little more bulk to hold up in the NFL. Gilmore started at cornerback all 40 games the last three years and in 2011 made 46 tackles and led the team with four interceptions, giving him eight for his career. He was selected first-team All-SEC and third-team AP All American in 2010. - Frank Cooney - The Sports Xchange, NFL Draft Scout

  15. It wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit !! Move Brad Smith to the second QB spot & draft Weeden , Tannehil , Osweiler , or Wilson in a later round , i think we would be much farther ahead for the future !!

Thigpen is not worth what they paid him !!!!
