  1. Buffalo Barbarian...

I preface this comment by stating that I do enjoy and mostly respect your posts on this message board, but what is the deal with your ever-changing mock draft signature? Riley Reiff, Michael Brockers, and now Dre Kirkpatrick as your 1st round pick? Not to mention our love affair with Ryan Tannehill. What gives brother? You're all over the map.....who's it gonna be?

  2. Saw Hugo in IMAX 3D with the wife. We had reservations about seeing the movie because it seemed like more of a kid's flick. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised. Amazing cinematography (especially in 3D), incredible sound, and a captivating story line. Everyone we have recommended this movie to has thoroughly enjoyed it. It just came out on Netflix, and I can't wait to watch it again with my son.

  3. Upshaw supposedly scored a 9 on the Wonderlic.

Yeah, and Ray Lewis scored a 13 on the Wonderlic and Frank Gore a 6.....so what? Most overrated NFL evaluation tool ever. We're not drafting a guy to do our taxes. We're drafting a person who we want to go out there on Sundays, become a savage beast, and destroy people.

IMO...the Wonderlic test means more for QB's than any other position. In terms of construct validity, I'm not so sure how these scores translate to success on the football field.

  4. Watch the tape of him vs. Stanford OT Jonathan Martin. While he didn't sack Luck (to my recollection), he really abused Martin and was in the backfield the entire game. I watched the game live, and the Youtube clip does not really do his performance justice, but worth a look anyway.

  5. No doubt his size and speed make him an intriguing prospect for many of you, but as a GT season ticket holder, I've watched him drop waaaaay too many balls in key situations to think he would be worth spending an early draft pick on. If he's there in the 4th round I think you take him and hope you can fix his dropsies, but I wouldn't take him before that.

Well then he'd fit right in here in Buffalo

  6. We all know Stevie's gonna get a deal done, it's just a matter of time...hopefully within the next week or so(according to stevie). All of you who think we need a playmaker opposite Johnson, i agree, but i believe that guy is already on our team...MARCUS EASLEY. He showed flashes of what he's capable of in preseason before his medical condition was discovered. This is a big, fast receiver who i think will eventually become a huge part of this team. As far as the slot goes, we have Nelson, and maybe we draft someone with a skillset similar to parrish in the later rounds. Derek Hagan seemed to play well this past year, but in no way is he a permanant solution. I think we let him compete this summer and see how he matches up against our other wideouts. Just my opinion, thoughts?

Easley, while he has shown good potential (in the preseason), has yet to prove that he can stay healthy. How can we bank on him being our #2 starter opposite Stevie? IMO...we need to bring in a mid-tier FA WR (Garcon, Meachum, B. Lloyd, Manningham, L. Robinson), and also draft a WR in the middle rounds of the draft (unless a guy like Sanu or Jeffery drops to us in round 2).

  7. Like a lot of us here I have been watching & listening to all Bills as much as i can & given a few things said over the past week or so in different interviews from Buddy Nix , Chan Gailey & Dave Wannstedt I got to thinking with the combine being here & the draft coming soon ..

Wannstdt said in his interview with BB.com that " For us to take a jump our D line needs to make a difference , our D line as a group needs to be a major factor" & if you look at the SB champion Giants thats what they had going for them - front 4 pressure & that's what got me thinking about Brockers ..

Buddy didn't seem real hyped on 2 of the top DE/LB mentioned at the combine b/c of there lack of prototypical NFL size , those 2 players being Upshaw & Ingram . I know Brockers is listed as a DT but i think he could play anywhere on the line which would give us more versatility up front ..

Given the way that Buddy has been in the past as far as taking the BPA at times i was wondering if any of you thought that if Brockers was there at out pick , would he be a good value at our pick & do you think we could go DT again this year ?

Everybody says the guy is a Monster !!

Imagine -- Carrington - Williams - Dareus - Brockers , OK I think that is a front 4 that would make a difference I put Brocker out on the end due to his 6'5' frame and long arms Which they could switch these guys up at different positions in our D line .. D Edwards is said to not fit real well b/c he is more of a 3/4 line man so if we let him go , we get Brockers with out first & then get a LB like Donte Hightower if he fell to the second or another top LB like Zach Brown ..

I think if we went with Brockers at #10 in the 1st round & top tier LB that would be a good start to our draft , what do you all think ??

I mentioned Brockers as a possibility in another thread, and the overwhelming response was that it was unlikely that he could play DE in the 4-3. I don't know, the more tape I watch on him, the more I think he could play that position well. For his size, the guy can really get after the QB. He has to at least be in the conversation...

  8. Yeah, put me in "camp skeptical." The 2011 tape on him looks pretty good....good size, quick off the snap, arsenal of pass rush moves, seems to hold up pretty well vs. the run. The whole one year wonder thing has me scratching my head though. I mean, where was the guy in his freshman and sophomore seasons? I also am skeptical that he put up those huge sack numbers against weak competition.

Not saying he isn't worth a long look for the #10 pick in the draft, but I have my concerns. I am glad that team rep's are spending a lot of time getting to know this kid.

  9. Top 10 WR salaries 2011...includes base salary, signing bonuses, incentive bonuses, etc...

    10. Anquan Boldin 6

    9. Greg Jennings 6.5

    8. Roddy White 6.5

    7. Reggie Wayne 8

    6. Andre Johnson 8.8

    5. Miles Austin 8.5

    4. Steve Smith 8.5

    3. Brandon Marshall 10.6

    2. Calvin Johnson 12.6

    1. Larry Fitzgerald 21.5

IMO...based on his age and potential alone, he will likely be worth more than Boldin and Jennings on the free agent market. I don't think he is worth more than Roddy White, but it seems like Roddy is grossly underpaid. I would estimate that he would likely be offered a contract somewhere in the 7 million range. I really feel like the Bills are closer to this number than most people think. As people have stated, the difference between the two sides is probably more related to contract length, signing bonus, and/or guaranteed money.

The flip side of that perspective, is that maybe Stevie just doesn't want to be here anymore. He knows that he would likely receive a similar or better contract elsewhere, and have the chance to play immediately for a competitive team.

I suspect that he will ride this out until free agency and then sign with the 49ers...his hometown team (who coincidentally have been very public about their intentions to sign a top-tier FA wide receiver). This, of course, doesn't make me happy...but I wouldn't be shocked if it came to fruition.

  10. Tannehill = project = wouldn't touch him till the 4th round

Bills either trade up for the franchise RG III or wait till the middle rounds to take a flyer on a guy who has the potential to develop into a franchise guy without blowing a 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick.

While I agree that Tannehill will be a "project QB," I think that you will find most draft pundits will give him a 1st round grade after the combine/pro day workouts based on potential alone. I wouldn't be completely shocked to see Miami take him at #8 overall.

If I were making the call, however, I wouldn't consider him unless he slid to our 2nd round pick (and that would still be a tough call depending on who was available).

I could see us drafting a mid-late round QB like Wilson, Foles, Weeden, or Cousins.

  11. He's projected to be a DE because we don't have any other guys that can play DE and we have others that can play DT (Williams, Dareus, Johnson, Heard, Troupe). At DE we have Kelsey. No one knows about Merriman. Edwards isn't a 4-3 DE and should be cut. He's not worth the money as a backup DT. Can Batten or Moats play 4-3 DE? Who knows? The only place Carrington fits is DE now and we have no idea if he'll be successful. I've always had really high hopes for Carrington, but he's been disappointing. I'd pass on Brockers as a DE. I think he'll be a great DT though.

I agree with everything you mentioned, and I would also prefer a player who is more "scheme versatile" than is Brockers. I, personally, would rather see Melvin Ingram, Whitney Mercilus, or Nick Perry with the #10 pick. I guess I was responding directly to the OP's point that Wanny likes bigger linemen. I recently watched some tape of Brockers and his athleticism really stood out to me. Thought it would be worth some discussion.

  12. Even a 4-3 DE?

It's possible. Alex Carrington is about the same size as Brockers (and not nearly as athletic), and he is projected to play some at 4-3 DE. He certainly would not be the prototypical 4-3 end, but he can do it all....including get after the QB. Watch some tape on the guy.

  13. On a somewhat related note...I got my earlobe cut pretty badly while getting a haircut about 10 years ago. It was bleeding pretty badly, and the barber did his best to clean the area and stop the bleeding with bandaging. I wasn't even offered a free haircut!! Looking back on this, it kind of makes me angry. At least the barber didn't try to glue my earlobe back in place

  14. There is so much talk about the 10th pick in the draft on here. People talking about a QB, pass rusher, WR. Is there anyone else that will be 100% disappointed unless the Bills draft a O tackle. Let's be honest.... the bills may be close to getting back to the playoffs and without a stud LT I just don't see that happening. The bills have been plagued with wasted first round picks. Let's get ourselves a guy that can sit on our line for the next 12 years and when we do end up acquiring a young franchise QB he'll be well protected!!!!!! Also, I'm into Fitz. He may have had some poor games but IMO he's earned another year leading this team!!!

I wouldn't be completely opposed to drafting an OT at #10, but that depends entirely on what happens with D. Bell. I would much prefer the best pass rushing DE/OLB with #10 (Whitney Mercilus, Melvin Ingram). That said, if either Reiff or Adams slid to our pick in the 1st round, I wouldn't be opposed to either.
