  1. I would like to see us cut this guy, not promote him. I dislike everything about him. He's slow, tentaive, has bad hands, costs too much...

    ^^^^^

    THIS!!

Make Brad Smith our #2 Wide Receiver....are you serious? Smith got plenty of opportunities at WR this season, and he pretty much proved that he sucks at playing WR. We are paying a guy 4 million per year to be our third string QB....maybe run the wildcat 1 or 2 plays every couple games? Cut him now and salvage as much money as possible. Justin Rodgers is a much better kick returner than this guy for christ's sake!!

I liked the move when they brought him in....he proved that he is not exceptional at anything....time to move on.

  2. This guy hasn't gotten as ton of attention from the national pundits, but for my money he's the best pure OLB in this years draft. The biggest knock on him is he's undersized, at a little under 6'1" and 233 lbs. Certainly it's smaller than your prototypical LB, but Nick Barnett is 6'2", 230 lbs, and no one complains that he's too small.

Lavonte David has great speed, change of direction, and instincts. He's good in coverage and is also solid in run support. He'll never be a LB that's going to bull rush a 300 lb OL, but I'm not sure there are a ton of cover LB's that will ever be able to do that. In a league where defenses seem to be in their nickel packages just as much as their base defenses, the importance of cover (nickel) LB's is all the more important. Couple that with the fact that we play in a division with some pretty good TE's (Gronkowski, Hernandez, Keller, Fasano) and I think David would be a great asset for the Bills.

On obvious passing situations we'd have the ability to keep David and Barnett on the field and I think we'd be able to match up well in that package. Bo Pelini, head coach of Nebraska, was quoted last season saying there wasn't a LB in the nation he'd trade for Lavonte David, a lot of praise coming from a defensive minded coach. With the Bills having a beefier more talented DL upfront I really like the idea of getting these fast flowing playmaking LB's on the Bills. Guy can tackle, blitz, and cover, what's not to like? I think David would be dynamite on the Bills, what say you?

If you have time, check out the two clips of Lavonte David below: and if anyone has a comment or opinion on David please add, I'd like to know more about him.

    (vs. Michigan)

(vs. South Carolina - Bowl Game)

I like David a lot, as I think he would be a great 4-3 OLB. I also really like Ronnell Lewis (Oklahoma) who I think will be the best overall OLB in this class. If Lewis is there in round 2....I think he gets strong consideration.

  3. Freeney's arms are 33", which is pretty much middle of the road, and fairly long for his short (6'1") stature. Ingram's arms are 31.5", which is pretty significantly shorter. Not saying he can't succeed (I'm sure there's examples of successful DEs with short arms), just saying that the pre-draft knocks on Freeney weren't about arm length, more about height and weight (at 268 lbs - shows how much the league has changed since then). I certainly like what you're saying about Ingram's athleticism. If he's really that beastly, he'll probably figure out a way to succeed in the NFL. I guess the main worry would be his ability to be an every-down DE and succeed against the run.

How does the poor guy manage to pleasure himself?

  4. Per the article:

Nike’s intentions regarding the NFL uniforms remain unclear. An executive promised “dramatic” changes when the deal was struck in 2010. The NFL more recently has explained that the changes will primarily be reflected in the construction of the jersey.

The construction of the jersey?

I doubt we are going to see any real significant changes in how the jerseys will look.

Has anyone seen what Nike has done to the NCAA Basketball jerseys? They are hideous.

  5. I'd offer them next year's 1st rounder (because it's gonna be the 32nd pick), Roscoe Parrish, Dwan Edwards, and a bag of used footballs.

Actually the OP makes a good point. If both teams get their starting QB in free agency, then the market for that #2 pick takes a slide. I've heard rumors that Holmgren really likes Matt Flynn, and is likely to make a good push to sign him. Regardless of what happens in FA...it's still going to take 2 first rounders, likely a 2nd rounder, and some change to move up from #10.

  6. Bell is not coming back.

Hairston looked ok, but he too was injuried some.

WR is a luxury pick for a team in the first round. Unless he is a Cavin Johnson.

Sorry, but remember Detroit taking Wr after Wr in the top ten, how did that work out for them??

Floyd only got on everyones radar after the combine. This alone scares me.

He was seen as maybe a first rounder before the combine...but because how he ran and jumped in his underwear, he has vaulted up the board. No thanks.

I've been seeing mock drafts since December that had Floyd going to the Bills at #10. He's been projected as a first round pick since his junior year, and a top 15 pick for much of his senior season. His performance at the combine merely solidified his draft standing. Essentially, with his 40 time, he proved to teams that he is much more than a "possession receiver." Guys who are 6'3' 225 and can run the 40 in 4.42 don't grow on trees my friend.

Trust me, the Bills will regret passing up on this kid. Besides, Fitz gets rid of the ball in 2.75 seconds, so why spend such a high draft pick on a tackle?

I apologize in advance for the music in this clip....sounds like a cat strangling contest.

  7. Not a fan of Michael Floyd in the 1st round. My personal belief is not to take a WR or RB in the 1st unless it's a generational talent like Calvin Johnson. I just think you can get good value at those two positions throughout the draft.

I think perhaps you are underestimating the talent level of Michael Floyd. He isn't a "generational talent" like Calvin Johnson, but he may be the best overall WR in this, very talented, draft class. He's fast (4.41 40), big (6'3 220), physical, has great hands, is a good blocker, and is a good route runner.

He is bigger, faster, and a more complete WR than Dez Bryant. IMO, (and some draft scouts believe this also) he may prove to be more talented than Justin Blackmon.

Drafting Floyd at #10 gives us an extremely talented, young WR corps for the next 5-6 years (at least). I'll bet that Floyd would have more of an impact than any offensive tackle available at the #10 slot.

  8. I know Michael Brockers' draft stock has fallen since his combine performance, but watch the tape on this guy....he is a gamer. Could play either DT or DE in the 4-3 too. Maybe he'll be around in round 2

Either way, I somewhat agree with the OP in that we really should add a quality DT in the first 3 rounds. With all the questions surrounding Torell Troup and Kyle Williams, we need to add quality depth to that position.

  9. IMO...with the exception of Jonathan Martin, I would not touch any of these guys with the #10 pick. Zebrie Sanders is a decent OT prospect who will likely make it to our pick in the second round, but I feel that there is more value in taking a DE or OLB in that spot. Guys like Vinny Curry and Ronnell Lewis come to mind as good options in the 2nd round. I think that we can find good "swing tackles" in the latter rounds if we do not draft our starting LT in round 1.

  10. My only edit would be to replace the DB and the 2nd olb with at least 1 DT. Say a guy like Mike Martin out of Michigan. Suppose it depends on Torrell Troupe.

I was actually thinking about this....for the reason you gave, but also the uncertainty of Kyle Williams coming off a major surgery.

Are you saying what you want, or what you think will happen?

I made this change because Gailey/Nix dont bluff and they have said they are going OT most likely.

The only Pain Gailey/Nix got time for is the pain they put on people who think they bluff about their draft plans.

I'm just throwing together some draft picks based on my perceived team needs, as well as, some players I'd like to see in a Bills uniform next season. I have yet to read or hear anything from Buddy or Chan that leads me to believe that they are "most likely" going OT with #10. I have heard Buddy comment, however, on not reaching for a pass rusher with the #10 pick because he thinks he can get value in other rounds. To me that means best player available....that could be OT, WR, or CB IMO.

  11. I love the first 4 rounds, and Streeter in the 6th! I think that would give us 4-6 real players.

Dont know much about Fletcher or Allen, and dont like Wilson at all.

    But Id take it!

Fletcher's a big (6'1" 195), physical DB who shows good coverage skills and has proven to be solid in run support. Scouts criticize his lack of "top end" speed...I believe his best 40 times are in 4.5 range. Scouts think he has good potential though, and many believe he has flown below the radar due to playing on a horrible Boston College defense. He is also know as a good special teams player, as he has excelled as the gunner position on the punt team.

Jeff Allen is a decent sized OT prospect that has seen his stock rise since the combine. Some scouts see him coming off the board in the 4th round. He is known to play with great quickness and leverage in pass blocking, is quick off the snap and is good at getting to the 2nd level in run blocking, and has a solid slide kick to defend against speed rushers. He has played both tackle positions, and many scouts think he could fare well at Guard in the NFL. One criticism is his hand placement in fighting off pass rushers, but that (IMO) is something that can be coached up.

  12. 1. Michael Floyd - WR Notre Dame

    2. Vinny Curry - 4-3 DE Marshall

    3. Ronnell Lewis - 4-3 OLB Oklahoma

    4a. Jake Bequette - 4-3 DE Arkansas

    4b. Emmanuel Acho - 4-3 OLB Texas

5a. Donnie Fletcher - CB Boston College

5b. Jeff Allen - OT Illinois

    6. Tommy Streeter - WR Miami

    7. Russell Wilson - QB Wisconsin

  13. I dunno...I started a post on this very subject about a week ago, and found out I don't know anything about football!

19 sacks (7 of which came in 2006) and 2 forced fumbles in 6 seasons? Doesn't really look like that pass rushing 4-3 DE we are looking for...

  14. If we're going to break the bank for a top-tier FA cornerback, I would much rather spend 8-9 million per year on a guy like Ladarius Webb or Brandon Carr. I don't suspect this to happen, however, so Richard Marshall (Cards) or William Middleton (Jags) might be more cost-effective options. Both are young (26 and 27 respectively) and have shown the ability to be solid corners in this league. Of the two, I would prefer William Middleton who showed that he can handle his own against good receivers, is physical, and played well down the stretch for the Jags.

  15. Castillo was out for almost the entire 2011 season with a broken tibia. That injury doesn't concern me nearly as much as torn knee ligaments or an achilles injury. The question I have is...how would he fit in our defense? Seems a little large for 4-3 defensive end. I really don't know all that much about him...

    Anyone care to enlighten me?
