  1. Power rankings before training camp/preseason ugh.

I'm surprised they put the Bills as high as 12.

Biggest shocker to me was the Giants at #6, as if their SB win was a fluke. Eli Manning and the Giants D not getting much respect. This is a D where Osi Umeniyora is a BACKUP. Wrap your mind around that.

Texans at #8 runner up to me - he mentions loss of Mario Williams, but Williams was injured last year and they had a helluva D without him. This is a team that got to the playoffs on their THIRD STRING QB. "Nuff said.

3rd place shock - Lions at #13, below Bills. Fitz might become a top-echelon QB (top 10, not top 5). Stafford already is one, and the Lions D is evil, provided Fairley can avoid arrest and Suh keeps his temper. Some respect, please.

So I guess I must have enjoyed the article, since it shocked me

    Detroit's 2011 final defensive stats

    23rd in total defense

    22nd total passing defense

    23rd total rushing defense

    23rd points per game allowed

    23rd total points allowed/game

    My link

Agree with your points about the G-Men and the Texans....not sure you can call Detroit's defense "evil" though.

  2. With regard to the LT position, I think time will tell who will be the starter come week 1. I think it will be a fair competition between Hairston and Glenn. I disagree that Hairston demonstrated undisputably that he should be the entrenched starter. In the long run, I suspect Glenn will win the starting nod.

Gilmore seeems to be a lock to start at CB. As stated in the article, both Brooks and Bradham will be monsters on special teams. Both of those players could see significant PT depending on injuries (particularly Bradham).

To me, Graham is the real "wild card" rookie in terms of expectations for his production. From the sounds of things he is really starting to pick up the offense, has made some jaw dropping plays in OTA's, and could be the legitimate home-run threat that this offense has been lacking for some time now.

  3. Selmon, I would say the best thing is just to approach this site (and you might say life) with a sense of humor. Some of what you post will be ignored into oblivion, other stuff will catch on as time goes on.

Please know, though, that everybody gets ribbed around here. Especially on OTW. Take things less personally and you'll experience it less. Head over to the main board and people are a bit more caustic, but still mostly civil and entertaining. Head over to PPP and...well...don't head over to PPP.

Oh and use the site to learn about football. Some of the posters are VERY knowledgeable.

As an addendum, if you want to instigate better conversation, try to ascertain what other people are interested in. Like everything else, your opinion is essentially a commodity. People will buy it or not buy it on THEIR prerogative, not yours. If you post an intriguing statistics-based research project on the Bills' linebacker situation, you'll get tons of replies. A movie review on The Smurfs? Not so much. :)

    That's sage advice Selmon

  4. Excited to see who emerges as our #2 WR. Excited to see who wins the starting nod at LT. Excited to see how our injured players have recovered (Wood, Merriman, Williams), and how much they will contribute this season. Excited to see how our young group of defensive backs play together. Excited to see Vince Young in a Bills uniform. Excited to see how Chan utilized Fred and CJ this season (hoping that he finds a way for Spiller more touches).

I'm thrilled about a lot of things....let's get it on!!

  5. you just have to ask....Why haven't they been signed by anybody yet? Remind me of a party i was at years ago, there was a gorgeous women that nobody was with or trying to get with....I ask whats the deal with that? they replied...she has VD.... I said ahh say no more. the moral of the story is that if there is something you think is really nice and nobody else wants it there must be a reason.

    So what's your answer?

Maybe an injury healing up we haven't heard much about?

Just aging and lost a step?

    Wants too much?

    Locker room rep?

The answer is, very clearly, Visanthe Shiancoe has a venereal disease. My guess is Syphilis. I imagine it's very difficult to put on that tight jock strap when your junk is covered with painful blisters  Consequently, his career is over.

  6. pretty well with no pads?? that's like judging a beer with no alcohol...what's the point???

This is true. I guess I just assumed that Glenn would have at least a fair shot at competing for the starting LT job this season. When I wrote that I heard he was doing pretty well, I meant that I listened to reports from Chan saying that he looked good as far as his technique and ability to pick up the the blocking schemes. You're right though...you can't really evaluate a player when he's in shorts and a t-shirt. We'll see what happens in camp.

  7. I recorded it, it was a lot about safety, will put up transcript if enough requests or someone doesn't have a link.

He says he feels the community is the most supportive of this team around, that this year we are all in it, everyone excited atomosphere.

I saw Cordy Glenn practice, couldn't see much as it was only once. Thinks he won't play, was very high on our OL last year. Hopes that we'll do well again, injury hurt us. Said OL and DB's are two units that have to gel. The best DB's he's seen in buffalo since working.

err, gotta go, just was taking a break a moment.

Care to elaborate on this a bit? From what I've heard about Glenn has done pretty well so far at LT.

  8. you guys think carder or bradham will beat out morrison?

Although I think Morrison will be the starter come week 1, I wouldn't be surprised to see Bradham take over the weak side by mid-season. IMO...Bradham is better than Carder in coverage, and fits better into Wanny's attacking 4-3 scheme. I think Carder's skill set is better suited to play ILB in the 3-4, but i guess we'll see what happens.

  9. Here's something....

While Goodell’s letter to Fujita states that the pool “paid large cash rewards for ‘cart-offs’ and ‘knockouts,’” the NFL still has produced no specific evidence that anyone received any payment for players being carted off and/or knocked out of games. (That’s possibly because the only player carted off of any Saints game from 2009 through 2011 was Saints running back Reggie Bush, who broke a leg against the 49ers in 2010.) Absent such evidence, Fujita merely contributed to a pool of money that was paid out to players who intercepted passes, forced fumbles, etc.

Wonder if they have their facts straight?

  10. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--sources--new-orleans-saints-kept-a--ledger--detailing-weekly-earnings-in-bounty-scandal.html

"While the ledger doesn't necessarily prove that there was an actual transaction, it is potentially strong evidence that such a system existed. In the ledger, payments of $1,000 for cart-offs (a hit that resulted in a player being helped off the field), $400 for whacks (hard hits) and $100 deductions for mental errors were kept track of for each player.

Two specific entries for the 2009 season were shown during one meeting. In a game at Buffalo on Sept. 27, 2009, there were three $1,000 awards."

Anyone remember specifics from this game? Who fro our beloved Bills were carted off??

The only injury information I could find was that Leodis McKelvin left the game with an "undisclosed leg injury." No mention of whether or not he was carted off the field.

  11. thanks for saying

Cam Newton vowed to never stop using his legs when he came to the NFL because Cam knows its part of what makes him unique, harder to defend, the new age power Forward /QB Gruden likes to call them. Vince Young has close to the same size and skill set as Cam.

Jeff Fisher tried to make VY something he's not which is your typical pocket passer, taking away half of what makes Young a great QB.

Chan Gailey will give back to Vince something Jeff Fisher tried to take away...

VY is 29 years old...he's not scrambling around for 50+ yard TD's like he was when he was in college. Vince NEEDS to learn how to be a pocket passer first, and then use his remaining athletic talents to get him yards when he is in a pinch. He is not Cam Newton, and will not be a successful NFL QB when he's running for his life.

  12.

Thanks but why are you giving the "thumbs down?"

And btw we had chicken meatballs with pasta tonight and they were surprisingly good.

Haha...meant to be a thumbs up man. I've had a few to many Vodky and lemonades this evening. I meant good post
