I do think that some of the luster is wearing off of some of the prospects. As much as I liked Locker and Mallet weeks ago, their play so far hasn't been what I was hoping for. Mallet looked good throwing to wide open WRs vs Bama, but when he had to 1) step up and lead his team in the 4th, or 2) be accurate with a throw it just wasn't happening. I'm begining to lean towards drafting that LT or dominate DEF player we need and then grabbing a QB that isn't in the top grouping later on. And heck, we'll be top 5 the following year too! Maybe that crop of QBs will be better. But it's a long college football season. We'll see what happens.

Any explanation of why this deal benefits the Bills is a huge stretch. No explanation in the world can justify the price/year on this extention. I can barely understand having him around at all, but this price. Geez. Who else was going to pay this guy that money!!

IMO, the problems people are having with his deal are as follwos: 1) Amount/year. $6 million/year?!!!! Guessing he wouldn't get nearly that much on the open market. Why pay him that much? That money could have been used to, I don't know, sign a decent LT in the offseason?!! 2) Even if the contract were for $1/year, people wouldn't want him on the team. He clearly isn't suited for OLB in the 3-4. The length doesn't bother me. It's the fact that they thought enough of what they saw on the field to do this deal at all!

I've been trying really hard to give Nix the benefit of the doubt since he was hired. But either A) Nix is not cut out for this, B) Ralph wanted this, making it obvious that Nix is not running things and we're in for more of the same old same old, or C) (insert theory on Kelsay having leverage on management somehow). Regardless, the whole thing is really depressing.

Trying to be cool about it and not post things like "Oh my gosh! Holy cr@p!! I'm awesome!!! Look at me!!!". I really wish it was more than just dumb luck so I could parlay that into a job being an "insider", which would be a heck of a lot better than the crummy gig I have right now!! I understand the skepticism, but it's really just dumb luck. I'm sure it won't happen again. That, or I'm Buddy Nix...

I can assure you guys that I have no connection with the Bills, Bills Facebook page or Bills Twitter account. Just got lucky as heck with the Spiller/contract call. As far as my call regarding Trent's release from the team, I really just thought to myself this morning that he's not worth keeping around if they've decided to not play him for the rest of his time in BUF. Why pay the guy if you know you're not going to play him. He's damaged goods, and it was a chance to send a message. Got lucky on the day though (thought about waiting to make the prediction until the bye week). Feeling like hitting a casino tonight...

Call it just another hunch (I previoulsy called Spiller signing his contract the day it happened) but I think Trent will be cut/traded today. Basing this on nothing other than a gut feeling.

Theory: Since Buddy and Chan know their team stinks, they are in a sense "red shirting" Spiller this year. They'll use Freddie and Lynch and save Spiller's legs for future years.

It's amazing that a 200+ yard passing game is a "wish" of Bills fans. I mean, I agree 100%. I would love to have one!! It's just sad though. 200 yards. Sigh....

I'm torn on the idea of trading Lynch. On one hand, sure, you might be able to fill a need if you get a third/fourth round draft pick in return. But on the other hand, in a year or two one of our needs will be a solid RB to compliment Spiller, escpially if Fred Jackson declines b/c of his age. And we have that in Lynch already. So really I can go either way on this. If we were a contender now, then a trade makes sense. Given our current situation, I'd rather keep him though.

Gus on the "B team"? I actually enjoy listening to Gus. I think he's really good, especially when the game turns dramatic in the 4th. There are PLENTY of TV play by play guys that I'd throw on the B team before Gus. Just my preference I guess.
