Former Center Jason Brown Turned Farmer
RussellDopeland replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw this on CBS yesterday. Very inspiring. Having grown up on a farm myself, I laughed when he said that he researched how to farm on the internet. But good for him! It just goes to show that for every degenerate scumbag that may play in the league, there are countless others like this guy with integrity. -
Bills Sign Safety Bacarri Rambo
RussellDopeland replied to iommi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's too bad Alonso isn't out there. With Kiko and Rambo, no one would move the ball on us- we could let other defenders have some plays off and play 2 vs 11 and it wouldn't matter. Are there any players named Harry Callahan or John McLain out there that can be signed? -
Embracing a journeyman like Orton makes as much sense as passing on Wilson, Kaepernick, Foles, etc because we were "satisfied" with Ryan Fitzpatrick, and felt he was the answer at the QB position. That set this franchise back. Why not give the young guy a shot- he's started but 14 games in his brief career. Orton is what he is- mediocre. So many here are convinced Manuel is a bust...the only surety at this point is that Kyle Orton is a journeyman- and NOT the future of this franchise.

Guess the Bills 1st play from scrimmage tonight

Play-action fake, throw to Frank Summers on a wheel route. He rumbles 80 yrds for the TD. -
How long till Lee Smith gets a penalty ?
RussellDopeland replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The weekly Lee Smith penalty is this era's version of the old "Encroachment, number 76 defense" made famous by Fred Smerlas. It's the "gift" that keeps on giving. -
I remember when Paul Posluszny's arm had a show on WGR- best program the station had had since the Kelso Gazoo Helmet's show back in the 90s.

Fitzy to the bench in Houston
RussellDopeland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitzpatrick fell into that dreaded category of mediocre players that were/are lauded by many Bills fans. These are the the folks that tell us Chris Hogan is better than Mike Williams, or that we should have given Da'rick Rogers more of a chance. We've heard it all before: "This Michael Jasper guy is going to DOMINATE"..."Coy Wire reminds me of a young Steve Freeman" and so on. They're the same crew that couldn't wait to run Stevie Johnson out of town and have told us that Spiller is overrated and should be gone (though the buffoon that serves as offensive coordinator didn't exactly understand how to use him). Stop embracing the mediocre!!! -
Bills Working Out Kouandjio at Guard
RussellDopeland replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow!, I wasn't aware he was still with the team. I thought he'd been shipped-off by Marrone to the gulags (along with other ignored/unused players like Bryce Brown, Manny Lawson, Kraig Urbik, and Mike Williams). -
What can be gleaned from the Garrett situation is the changes within the staff. Monte Kiffin was demoted in favor of Rod Marinelli- Bill Callahan in favor of Scott Linehan. Now maybe these changes came from above (Jerruh), but they were made, and for the betterment of the team. If Marrone wants to survive as coach, he needs to take a long, hard look at his OC. Hackett has no feel for the game and seems totally overmatched. It is past time for a change (maybe Marrone should just take over the play calling himself).

Those two bloviating windbags, like every other employee of "The Worldwide Leader in Sports", are borderline retarded. Nothing to see here...move on.

Mike Williams is A Big Problem
RussellDopeland replied to tonyd19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With a head coach who's seemingly engaged in a Nolan/Muckler contest with the front office for control over the roster and personnel. With an offensive coordinator who couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag let alone call a competent game. And with a RG who may be the worst linemen in the NFL (yet continues to play every snap)- Mike Williams is not a "big problem". -
Orton should just call his own plays- totally snub Hackett. If Marrone and Hackett don't like it, they can activate the great Jeff Tuel off of the PS and put him out there.
-
Orton is mediocre. Marrone is mediocre. Lee Smith, Chris Hogan, and Stephon Gilmore are mediocre. Hackett is not even talented enough to be mediocre. Eric Pears wishes he was good enough to be considered mediocre. The reoccurring theme here is one of mediocrity. Yet this is talent-laden roster- tons of talent at the offensive skill positions; outstanding defensive line, etc.. This team is being held back by the aforementioned mediocrities.
-
If they cut Jordan Gay, you know that Marrone would insist on adding another mediocre player in his stead- someone like Hogan, Lee Smith, Pears, Ty Powell, Colin Brown, Doug Legursky- because those are the type of sub-par players he seems to prefer. It's better to sit Bryce Brown and Mike Williams, keep Urbik on the bench, ignore Kouandjio, and keeping plugging away with middling pretenders. I am convinced Marrone is a dullard.

Cheerleaders should have no place in sports.

My avatar agrees with this -
John Rzeznik to sing the National anthem
RussellDopeland replied to youngjebrey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills want to tap into local musical talent for such things, why didn't they call John Valby? What better way to usher in the Pegula era than Valby singing the anthem- would be like Leslie Nielson's "Enrico Palazzo" -
Deactivate Mike Williams, activate Lee Smith and Chris Hogan. This along with the Pears thing is really pushing me to question the intelligence of this head coach. Keeping an experienced guard like Urbik on the bench, starting another Colin Brown/Legursky type (Pears), the glorification of Hogan (the ultimate head-scratcher), and snaps for the next-to-useless Lee Smith are ill-conceived moves. Marrone is playing "favorites" here, and sacrificing talent in the process. It had better not bite him in the backside today!

Could be worse, it could've been flexed to Lifetime- with Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn calling it. The Food Network team is actually an upgrade over the Monday Night ESPN crew.
-
The name Eric Pears comes to mind. Or possibly Lee Smith (he serves no purpose on the field)

This thread brought to you by the Buffalo Bills! Please- enough with the propaganda. I was no fan of Gailey- and to quote Bill Belichick: "stats are for losers". The reality is that Nate Hackett is a dilettante, an amateur, who wouldn't be an OC in the league if his daddy hadn't been a coach of some renown. If my last name was Marchibroda, and Ted had been my granddad- I would be as qualified as little Nate to coordinate an NFL offense. Hackett hasn't used Spiller correctly from day one; furthermore he has yet to fully grasp how to properly configure a screen passing game. Under Gailey the Bills were arguably the best team in the NFL when it came to screens. And it's not like either Spiller, Jackson or many of the same OL-men (Wood, Glenn, Urbik, Pears) all-of-a-sudden forgot how to execute an effective screen play. And Watkins excelled on screens (slip, bubble, etc) at Clemson- but as of yet, not with the Bills. That is on little Nate. He either A) needs to put on his big-boy pants and figure things out, and FAST! or B) Marrone is going to have to take this offense over himself. Hackett is a liability- and I dare say that there are several "novice" fans on this board that could call a reasonably better game than Master Hackett- the actual novice.

The WR is, but unfortunately the RG has inexplicably allowed a DL a clear line to Orton, who has to get the ball out quick. Sooner as opposed to later I hope this staff figures out how to use Spiller correctly and that Eric Pears, who is teetering on the brink of Colin Brown-dom, has to be replaced. I think Marrone could ask his wife to borrow the dishwasher, roll that on the field, and get better results.
