  1. I agree with the poster that it doesnt matter if/when DJ is fired. We will just sign some bad OC from somewhere or promote Bobby April (who is looking like a bad coach now too BTW). Im not sure if either of these things will make any difference if they dont get the authority to spend money. Youll just have draft picks that dont want to sign here so they hold out til last minute, players that want more money or to be traded, and FA's that wont even come to Buffalo even if its just for a layover on their way to NYC, Boston, or Philly.

  2. Schopp makes sure to remind everyone that he hates message boards...because they're amateurs with nothing better to do.

He probably doesnt like them because he gets schooled on his sporting knowledge. Unless your talking about tennis on a daily basis. He knows all about that.

Bulldog is just Schoops little B word. Little may not be the correct word there but you get what I mean. I would bet with a decent partner Bulldog would do very well. Who did he used to have before Schoop? Was it Howard Simon?

Anyway, I dont think Schoop has been that bad lately (attitude wise) but he generally makes me want to punch a baby when I listen to his show.

  3. If they add more games rosters will need to be expanded. While I am in favor of an expanded schedule (at the cost of preseason games) I wonder if players would say "no." It could shorten already short careers.

The players have already said no. Its all over the place. Many of the previous players are against it that are now commentators and on NFL network. Of course they will want more money. So now your looking at paying players more money for more games as well as more players because the NFL would have to expand the rosters.

  4. The Bills D stopped the Pats? This the same Pats offense you described as "on the decline"?

Anyway, the Saints Offense is much better than the Pats. They can run and they obviously can pass---and score.

The Bills D did stop the Pats. That game was won if it wasnt for a fluke fumble. If you think the Bills didnt stop the Pats based on the fact that they let them run down the field 80 yards with 5 minutes left then you are not thinking correctly. The Bills gameplanned for that perfectly. They gave them the yards they needed in return for 3 minutes off the clock. If its not for that fumble the Bills need a first down and the game is over for sure. Even if they run into a 3 and out they still punt the ball and make it a long distance for the Pats with no timeouts and needing a TD.

IMO the Bills and the coaching staff(i cant believe im saying this) played that game perfectly and dictated to the Pats instead of the other way around. I tip my hat to Juron on this one even with that loss. Its not his fault McKelvin cant hold onto the ball.

+1 on the Saints offense. But they are different. They are very similar to the Pats of 07. IMO they will be the highest powered offense after this year is over. Move over 07 Pats and passing TD record. Drew Brees is tearing down your house.

  5. First off, I love the way Edwards is playing.

My question for the group is: why is Trent overthrowing the skinny post to Lee Evans to the QB's downfield right?

As I watched the Bucs' highlights again this morning, the Piscatelli interception was eerily similar to the first pick Trent threw vs the Browns in the Hall OF Fame game. Both defenses were dropped in zone coverage. Looks like he's got good footwork, and minimal pressure in his face, but the ball sailed on him in the same exact manner. Maybe AVP should have TE & Lee running an "out" in this situation; Trent has the arm strength in my opinion...

    Thoughts?

    Go Bills

It was the Titans game not the Browns game FYI.

I have also seen this and I know a few others that have commented that they look amazingly comparable. I was in the end zone both in the HOF game where he threw it as I got a sideline view. And in the end zone coming right at me last weekend. Im not sure what happened but I have to think TE either had the ball slip on that one, Lee ran the wrong route/they just werent on the same page on that throw/route, or something unexplained happened on that pass. I dont see Cinco making that bad of a throw on that ever. It was really bad.

The thing that pissed me off even more about that throw is that Owens was wide open on a slant route underneath in the middle of the field and probably could have had a TD with 1-2 broken tackles. At the very least he would have had 15-20 yards. Anyone else see that on that play? I sit fairly close to the field so I didnt get an overhead view but it seemed like he was wide open underneath.

  6. I'll save us the time of what this thread will turn into:

Person A: I'm not to sure about the Qbs next year

Person B: Yea, they all suck

    Person A: Not tebow

Person B: No he sucks, he'll be drafted in the 3rd round by some idiot team.

Person A: No, he'll be a top 5 pick. He is the best

Person B: He is the worst.

Person A: I have studied him, his mechanics have improved and he can ran over NFL defesnman. Throw 2000 yards, and is accurate on any throw.

Person B: No, he still sucks. Can throw the ball far but so did kyle boller lol. And no he is not accurate and no he cannot run over nfl linebacks.

Person A: No, he is the best, you must be 12 years old to think he sucks.

    Person B: Nah-uh, he sucks.

Person A: I can't wait to get him next year when we draft him.

Person B: The bills won't draft him. O wait, our front office sucks so much, I bet we do draft him. We let jason peters go didn't we.

Person A: Jason peters sucked and needed to go. He gave up the most sacks of any tackle last year.

Person B: Sacks given up are the most over-rated stat eva. Jason peters was god.

Why didnt you mention that we should have re-signed Crowell and Greer in that post? Now I'm pissed.

  7. I was born in the suburbs in the early 60's so when I became aware of football, say 1970, the Bills more or less truly sucked. I was originally a chiefs fan as I fell in love with them in the double OT loss to the Dolphins. This was the Len Dawson, Ed Podalak, Otis Taylor, Willie Lanier, etc chiefs. I lived threw the 70s and all the loses to the fish. I remember getting Dennis Shaws and John Leopolds autographs at local malls. I rooted for the Bills but there wasnt much to root for. I was there, at Rich, when Dempsey missed the chip shot to end the streak. I think we had one wild card in the 70s.

As I said I was a Chiefs fan, and wasnt a hardcore Bills fan, but when I moved to Ohio to go to college, people dissing the Bills started to piss me off and my pride in my hometown kicked in. I remember watching the Knox led Bills against San Diego in the very early 80s, ended in heartbreak and Bill Simpson made some sort of screwup. Since then I was hooked, we had up and downs in the 80s but then the team started to become a winner. It was beautiful. I cherish the superbowl teams, even though they ended in heartbreak, but that was part of being a Bills fan, all the way back to the vision of Dempsey missing the chip shot. It was fun to hang 50 on the Raiders in the AFC championship game. The comeback, when my coworker in PA, called me at halftime to say hows your !@#$ing Bills doing. God it was fun coming in the next day to rub it in his face.

As for Buffalove, and I like that word, I want to say this. You hear on this board so and so move to Florida or so and so moved to California, high WNY taxes, the weather, blah blah blah. My memories of Buffalo were, and are, great, even though I havent lived there since 1981 though my family is still there. I visit regularly. Not everyone who leaves Buffalo moves to some 24/7 beachfront location, making high 6 figures. And those that did probably dont brag too much lately about how the housing bubble, which is the worst in Cali, FLA and Las Vegas. Finding a reasonable 3 bedroom middle class house isnt that difficult in WNY. I lived in Ohio and currently live in PA and like Buffalo 100 percent better. Sorry, but the hometown I thought I wanted to leave in 1980, still beckons, and I hope to retire up there someday. For all the **** about Buffalo weather, it sure as **** seemed the people in WNY sure knew how to enjoy summer-crystal beach, beaver island, niagara falls, weekends at the quary at Sherkston, beach bars (try finding one of those in central PA), all the beaches and vacations at cottages in southern Ontario on the lake, drinking beer with friends at a beach fire, waterskiing, running on sand dunes, lawnfetes. And when the snow falls its on to winter sports, I have plenty of great memories of tobogganing at chestnut ridge on a toboggan which my father made in shop class in the 50s, skiing at Holiday Valley and Kissing Bridge, partying and sledding at Como park in HS. Hmm believe or not Buffalonians dont just sit on their ass and watch TV from Nov-March. I miss a Teds dog and a beef on weck. Yup its true.....not everyday in Buffalo is overcast and gray. I enjoyed the sun and warmth when it was there and I enjoyed the snow when it fell. ONE thing Im sure of, Buffalo and WNY is pretty great place to grow up in or raise a family. Buffalonians have no reason to feel like our city/area is somehow inferior, cause its not. In fact it a pretty awesome place to be raised in and Ill forever be Buffalo proud and wear my Bills hat down here with these Steeler fans. Cause one of these days........the Bills are gonna win it all Im gonna be up there, getting drunk as a skunk with all you other SOBs. .

    well played

  8. This will be the best pair of pass rushers the Bills have faced so far, and its going to be a test.

Worse case scenario would be if the Saints get out to a big lead early, and allow these two to pin their ears back and get after Trent.

Also, it might allow them to get pressure with only their front 4....which isn't good for the Bills passing game.

A successful running game is got to be key to have any success in this game.

I'm looking foward to see what AVP conjures up to neutralize these 2 guys.

Special K, Ive gotta know who that chick is on your avatar.

  9. Im 30 and lived in Buffalo all but 2 years of my life when I moved to Vegas during the Malarkey years. I have been a fan of the Bills as far as I can remember. Watching Thurman tear up the Dolphins 2-3 times a year (including playoffs), Bruce talking smack and going out and destroying QB's every week, and Kelly throwing TD's to Reed almost every game.

I went to my first Bills game during the 1990 season (i think). I was in the end zone with my dad, uncle and cousin and watched James Lofton catch a TD on the sidelines on the 2nd play of the game and the place went crazy. I remember beating the Jets (i think) and winning the division and I was thinking the goalposts were going to come down like they did before but they didnt (i was so upset).

Ive been to at least one game just about every season since and cant get enough of the game day experience. There is nothing more exciting than getting there early on cold morning in the winter. The feeling when you get out of the car and step onto the parking lot and just look at the stadium and the mostly empty parking lot (its still 8:05) and imagine how great its going to be in a few short hours when your pounding on the seats, jumping up and down when they announce the team. Sends chills across my entire body when the team comes out of the tunnel.

Walking out of the tunnel and walking down to your seat, announcing of the team, the singing of the National Anthem, the fireworks, the flybys (if were lucky) are amazing to me. Might actually be the best part of the game. Well after the feeling of victory as you walk back through the tunnels and onto the concourse are pretty close. I love the experience just as much as I do the Bills. Everything added up is why I will always be a fan and go to every game played here in Buffalo.

  10. It isn't T.O.'s presence out there that's creating all that room underneath. No. It's magic fairies.

Owens deserves nothing less than a contract that allows him to retire in Buffalo. He came here when NO other premeir receivers would even LOOK at us. This guy's a future Hall of Famer, people. We were a JOKE at the time Ralph contacted him. Our team was rumored to be moving to flipping CANADA, for Christ's sake. People of this town were SERIOUSLY ready to stop going to games anymore. The mood here was FOUL. Terrell Owens came and quietly, YES QUIETLY, took ahold of our hearts and said, "Hey, calm down, it's all gonna be OK." And so far, he's making good.

All the so-called experts on TV are saying how Terrell has already "blown up" at his club, and the haters here have grasped onto the WEAK arguments these yokels are making and have run with them, and frankly, it WOULD be laughable, if it weren't so meanspirited. All T.O. has done since coming here is calm the storm amongst the desperate fans, create a sense of self-worth among his teammates, and make Buffalo less of a joke (to everyone actually paying attention to the FOOTBALL being played here, anyway). And sheesh, how do you get mad at him for the things he's saying?! He says that he thinks Trent should go long more, take some shots downfield, and what does Trent do? Trent goes long a BUNCH the next game. The result? Two long touchdowns and a WIN.

Look, the guy knew that his own reputation was in the crapper back when maybe the crappiest team in the league came calling. B-Lo and T.O are a match made in Heaven. A town desperate for a hero, and a guy who wants nothing more than to BE that hero. The day the Bills and Owens signed their contract, two NFL outcasts got together and said, "We can help each other, I think." And so far, he's done MORE than his part.

Least we could do is recognize how big a gesture that was.

Agreed on just about every point. Its obvious that all T.O. wants is to be loved and looked at like the hero. We can sign him for a 3 year extension after this year and he can retire a Bill and one of the best WR's in the history of the game. The Bills (and should I dare say city) need a guy like this. Someone that picks us up and takes us to the next level. Next year if Owens is with the Bills he obviously will want to be here. Thats good for everyone. The Bills, The city (with the national media and tv shows) will all benefit from having a starpower here and supporting us.

  11. This is coming from the town that had a courthouse and jail cells in the Vet. They were known for throwing batteries, booing and throwing snowballs at Santa along with many other classy stories. The Vet for years was known as the worst place to go into and play if you were visiting. Not until the Raiders and a few stabbings in the stands did they lose their spot at the top.

I have no problem with our fans or anyone elses in this league when you are the home team. Its the out of towners that come in and act however they feel almost all the time. I happen to be one of the rowdier fans in my section at the Ralph. The thing is I generally dont do anything that others do in my section I just do it a little louder and crazier. Banging on the seats, standing up, yelling, lots of bad words.

We had a guy with a 5 year old (approx) in front of us this past Sunday. Im not one to go out of my way and make things uncomfortable for anyone. I just dont see how anyone who has been to a game before can justify taking their 5 year old to a game and expect not to hear or see some craziness. In the end zone no less. I understand they have every right to enjoy the game just like everyone else. But when it interferes with my enjoyment of the game I generally dont stop just for them. I wasnt the only one kicking the bleachers, in fact I waited until everyone else was already doing it, and they ended up standing so it didnt matter.

My point is that if your one of the people that wants to sit at a game and stay seated in your heated seats, drink your hot cup of coffee, and clap like your at the masters then you are probably at the wrong event. If you like going to the games that much you probably like the crowd with some exceptions, and expect it every game. Of course the people peeing on other people is out of hand, and people having sex in the bathrooms is out of line. But for the most part some loud swearing, yelling, and arguing is to be expected anywhere the fans are passionate about their team.

Ive been to San Diego, Oakland, and San Francisco for games in my life and I must say that San Francisco fans are the worst fans I've ever seen, almost no emotion what so ever. San Diego wasnt far behind. It almost didnt feel like I was at a football game. Oakland is a different story on its own but generally not that bad outside the black hole. My opinion is that if you dont like the rowdiness then you should buy tickets in the family section (thats what its there for) or stay at home on your flat screens, the crowd and excitement is most of the game day experience anyway.

Anyway, Im dont with my rant after I have gotten completely off topic.

  12. And Steve Tasker couldn't make the cut for the 85 Oilers. He got beat out by Herkie Wells, Tim Smith, William Drewery, Steve Bryant and Drew Hill. What is your point?

Pretty sure Chris Carter was cut rather early in his career as well. He only turned out to be one of the best receivers this game has seen. Its also not far off from what was expected out of J. Peters and look how he turned out. The 2nd coming of Bruschi on this board. I agree with you Pete. It is a good pickup and someone that is young and has a ton of potential.

  13. When did jacksonville get smaller than Buffalo? I mean the reporter indicated that jacksonville is the second smallest city behind GB...that's inacurate.

Buffalo get;s that nod...and fills its stadium!

    Metropolitan areas:

    Buffalo- 1,254,066

    Jacksonville- 1,313,228

Its not by much. But you are right. At least per Wikipedia

  14. I personally have always liked TO. So I may be biased but I say lock him up for 2 years the second he recieves either his 10th TD, or 1000yrds. I think the 2nd WR position is key to this offense(obvious right?). If you let TO start to think he can sign with another team he may leave. The team Im expecting to make a big play for him after this year might be the Giants. They would be a perfect fit. TO gets his SuperBowl contending team before he hangs em up and the Giants get back another weapon for Eli. Mark it down, I called it here.

  15. i say keep roscoe, what happens next yr when t.o is gone???what about the special teams threat?????

If were looking at Roscoe becoming a 2nd or even a 3rd WR in the absence of TO next season we will have some severe issues. Trent cant get the ball to his receivers now and hes got Evans and Owens out there. I cant imagine what it will be like w/o Owens and Roscoe taking snaps at #2 or #3, oh wait that would be just like the last 2 years when the offense and passing games have sucked.

  16. Wow! Are you even watching the same team I am?!?!?!? Seriously. I think you have a pretty big bias against Lynch.

    1) I have seen our o-line get crushed, Lynch jitterbugs behind the line caving in on him, picks a spot and drives defenders from 1 yard behind the line of scrimmage for a 4 yard gain.

    2) Lynch DOES NOT need forward momentum to do this!!! Jackson is NOT a soft runner but Lynch runs harder and it's by a significant easily observable margin!!

    3) Comparing Lynch and Jackson elusiveness is very difficult. They are BOTH elusive!!! They do it in different ways. Lynch is more that Barry Sanders stop in his tracks, shimmy, slip and slide to break tackles and power through a guy type RB. Jackson uses his speed and is a more fluid open field runner that glides side to side to avoid tackers.

    4) I have no idea what you are trying to say with years in the league. Jackson being the older guy with more miles on him has better long term potential and the guy that has yet to play his first game of his 3rd year his career could be almost over? That is just completely back-assward.

Again I say WOW!!! I think you developed your opinion of the RBs before actually impartially observing their play.

Im sorry, I dont think I can ever read another one of your posts EVER! Did you really just compare Marshawn Lynch to Barry Sanders? I have no idea what you see in ML to make that comparison but I think you might be smoking too much of Marshawns stash. And I dont think anyone has developed an impartial opinion of either of the RB's play since we have had them both on this team for 2 full seasons.

  17. I can be happy with that assumption.

    Agreed,

I never said I didnt want both. I was simply voting the question and answering with my opinion. But yes, we have both and Im happy for that. Lets all hope Lynch doesnt do anything stupid in the future to jeopordize that.

  18. mrags throws that theory out the window, he seems to be a Jackson supporter but is throwing around childish names and acting angry. As for me, I support both of them, they both wear a red helmet with the charging buffalo on them.

I also support both of them. Stated that several times in my posts through this thread. Again, I never called you any names. Billsfreak!!! Dont be mad, Im not.
