  1. Robert Mathis of the Colts is 6'2" and 245#, and is a LDE. Maybin (at 21 years old) is 6'4" and 250#. It can be done.

I wasnt saying it couldnt be done. I was just saying historically you would want a bigger LDE than a RDE. I think we can agree that he is physically fit more for RDE than he is for LDE. If he doesnt move to LB at some point I see him taking Schobels spot within the next year or 2. With Maybins quick first step and smaller size he is perfect for LDE.

"Defensive end (DE) — The two defensive ends play on opposite outside edges of the defensive line. Their function is to attack the passer or stop offensive runs to the outer edges of the line of scrimmage (most often referred to as "containment"). The faster of the two is usually placed on the right side of the defensive line (quarterback's left) because that is a right-handed quarterback's blind side."

  2. I really have no idea where this is coming from. I dont think Ive seen anyone saying we would/should trade Evans for Marshall. I think you are crazy for thinking it. And if its not you, the freinds you hang with are nuts.

I really dont know how you can say anything about the off-field issues at this point. McIntyre was found innocent and the cops later arrested a 165lbs guy with dreads in his place (not even close in appearance). The woman admitted that she had no idea for sure if it was him. We havent seen anything yet on the Whitner thing. For all we know he will cleared as well. Most people that know or have met Donte say that he is a stand up guy and this seems out of character for him. Ko Simpson was just a drunken idiot, and we all known Marshawn is just dumb for the things that he has done in the last 14 months or so. I for one wouldnt mind to see him off this team. I hope I am wrong on this but I think we will all be pissed off about Marshawn in another year from now when he gets his 1 year suspension.

  3. Thanks for the reconnaissance/report Matt. Sounds like a cool time and that you guys had some fun.

Apparently it's expensive compared to buying a twelve pack of bud and a large 3 cheese and steak pizza from Mr. Pizza. Oh wait, never mind. I meant a six pack of bud and a chicken finger sub from Jim's Steakout. That's less than 15 bucks still isn't it? The McFadden's deal is cheap, especially for NYC.

Ill be happy to answer that one being the chicken finger sub connoisseur that I am. Depending on what your getting with it you might be asking your freinds for some dough. The other night I got a chicken finger sub with bacon and a large drink and paid over $12. Then of course you have to toss in a buck or two for a tip.

Allen and Elmwood is still my favorite but now there are 2 just down the street from me in Amherst so I dont head down there much anymore.

In all I would say $25 is very cheap for any place for wings and beer. Especially for all you can eat and drink and defenately in NYC.

  4. As a Fantasy Nerd myself, I am looking forward to playing GM this year as much as ever! My question for other FNs out there, who would you take #1 this year?

I'm thinking AP but who knows...

    Opinions?

I took AP this past year over LT and he worked out great.

  5. I prefer a conventional offense that moves the ball down the field and eats up some clock. Let's see, I think that just described every offense that has ever won the Super Bowl. Certainly it described the offenses of the New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys (twice in a row), that beat the Bills in their 4 Super Bowl games.

But forget ancient history. Let's talk about the modern game today. No team uses the lightning fast no-huddle offense as it's main scheme. Peyton Manning goes no huddle most of the time, but he stands up at the line of scrimmage and uses up almost the entire play clock while making adjustments and calling out audibles. That's it folks. Nobody else uses it more then as a change-up look every now and then. Perhaps a couple of series per game. And of those other 31 teams that don't use the no-huddle, one won last years' SB, and 11 others made the playoffs, while the Bills did not. What makes you think that running the no-huddle full time is the only way the Bills can improve beyond those putrid numbers you pointed out?????

What makes you think that running a no-huddle full time wont/cant help the Bills improve on offense. As someone pointed out before. We havent made the playoffs in a while. Its not going to hurt.

  6. Maybin will replace Kelsay. Who's going to replace Schobel?

First of all, Maybin is too small to play LDE and is a speed rusher which would make him a RDE.

Second, I thought they were optimistic Schobel would be 100% this year. There I go again, thinking you know what your talking about. As I said before, you obiously are not the GM of an NFL team or we would have 2 DE's that neither will get on the field unless its 3rd down and long situations. And I dont want to hear that how many playoff games has Russ won and how many have I won crap like you said in one of yours posts. Does that mean that I technically would be a better President than Bush was? Damn, all this time I should have been running the show in the US. Get over it. Not too many people are complaining about the draft this year. Most are stating this is arguably the best draft we have had in a long time. I personally see the first 5 draft choices as starters on this team by next season if not sooner (This is my opinion. In no way do I state this as fact or have knowledge of Bills football operations). You cant fill everyone of your needs in one offseason when you have so many. We addressed the DE position with the best player they thought was available. What else do you want from them? Sure they could have picked Brown too. They also could have went DE in the next 4 rounds after that just to make sure that one of them worked out if thats what will make you happy. But then you would be complaining that the OL needs attention too. They did what they could and addressed 5 needs that everyone (Probobly including yourself) thought they needed at the time.

Im done with this post as I can tell you will not think of the bigger picture.

  7. I dont understand what the arguement is. Byrd is only 5'10" 200lbs, and Brown is 6'1" 256lbs. Its obvious that Brown is much larger and will make a better safety as he is taller and weighs more.

Cmon, lets be realistic. Byrd was a CB in college and was a too slow for CB. For S he is just fine. Thats why they projected him to be drafted as S. Not only did they project him to be drafted as a S, they projected him to be 2nd best S in the draft. Brown was projected much higher than he was drafted and fell quite a bit. Theres obviously a reason why every team passed on him at least once.

Last I checked it doesnt matter if youve played the position for 10 years or 10 days. If your an athlete your an athlete. Jason Peters wasnt a Pro-Bowl (allegedly) Left Tackle when he came into this league. He was an undrafted Tight End. Get over it.

They needed someone to play S since their current starters are subpar. They obviously thought this was a bigger need for the team than another undersized DE in Brown and that is why Brandon is the GM and you write dumb posts on a message board.

Great Topic! Think you could have thought of anything else that we talked about for the first 3 weeks after the draft and went over time and time again. Maybe next time you can write a post that you just saw on the news that OJ is wanted for questioning in his ex wifes death and is leading a police chase on the freeway. :censored:

  8. Wes Welker, who people think is a great slot WR, is smaller than Reed. Welker is 5'9" 185# and Reed is 5'10" and 210#.

And on another note Parrish is even smaller than Welker. If were cutting WR's for being small then Roscoe would be the first to go on almost any team in the league. Im too lazy to look up his weight. What is Roscoe? 175 dripping wet?

  9. First of all comparing Reed to Ward is an insult to an eventual HOFer. Secondly saying that Parrish is too small to block is no different. that was my point. If parrish is "too small", then Reed is not much bigger.

My whole point is that the potential of this offense is better served getting johnson and parrish in one on one matchups with safties and nickle backs, than it is to just hand the position to Reed and have that take up a receiver spot that is too limited this year. Reed one on one in the slot is what opposing teams would rather too!

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I cant believe you just called Hines Ward a future HOF'er. You must be smoking crack through a plastic straw with an espestos filter.

  10. ”There was opportunity to go to other teams, but it was like, ‘We’re going to give you the job.’ And for me, that was awkward because I know there were guys who had been working since the end of last season, coming into this year and all the time they put in, and they felt like they were the starter. The fact that I have to come and earn a job, it definitely makes me more hungry because now I know I have to earn my job.”

”Just the chance to be on a winning team is worth it to me,”

IMO i dont see Pisa saying anything at all about the Bills in this interview. The Bills and Bears were not the only teams that expressed interest im sure. And no FO in the NFL would ever tell Pisa Tino-nobody that he will be the starter before even getting him into camp. Someone already posted that he is no T.O. That might be the best point I've seen on this topic yet.

The getting a chance to be on a winning team comment might not have anything to do with the Bills either. He may be refering to the Rams where he was just cut for almost no reason what so ever and is bitter as hell.

To me this interview has nothing to do with the Bills and if you read it that way then you might have other problems. The guy was most likely an upgrade over Ellison (who is really backup to Digeorgio as long as he comes back from his injury), but he wasnt exactly Ray Lewis out there for the taking. I wanted the guy but wouldnt have spent tons of money on him. Who knows what the Bills offered him, it sounds like he gave the Bears a discount because of Lovie Smith anyway. If thats the case it sounds like he always wanted to go there and was only using the Bills as a bargaining chip with the Bears.

This is the dumbest thread I've ever posted on and I'm now punishing myself for taking the time to do this and taking the weekend off.

  11. Really? getting a 3rd olb who will not be in on nickel and dime packages is more vital than a good DT when we had one of the worst run D's in the league? DT's make LB's look good, not the other way around.

Im not trying to attack you, and I am not saying a olb wouldnt be nice-but I am sure if the Bills had any REAL shot at getting a player like Henderson-they would gladly live with Ellison instead of a Pisa Piso

As much as nobody wants to hear this. I think the Bills are really banking on McCargo stepping up this year. Hes been at the facility since March and has a new DL coach that seems to have taken a liking to him. I really think you could see McCargo show flashes the way he did at the end of the 07' season. At least I hope. If not, they have Stroud and Williams and I think they will be better off this year than last year since they are more comfortable in their positions(Williams), and team chemistry(Stroud).

  12. No one will match Rice's stats. He averaged over 77 catches, 1,100 yards and 10 TD's a year.

Im not going to do that math. But if TO plays for about 4 more years and has his season averages that he has had, he will pass quite a few of rices records. Moss is the same. And they both would be played less seasons as rice. Look up their stats and prove it. You cannot.

  13. I think the line will be good already in 2009 and only get better after that.

I may be overly optimistic about LT, but I think Walker will do OK. The Peters thing messed up our minds somewhat in that we had perhaps the most talented LT in the game, but one who wouldn't really put out for us and actually was a net negative at times. Now we think we need another pro bowl LT for Trent to survive. But most teams get by fine with a decent LT if the rest of the line is good. I think that is where we will be this year.

I agree completely. I think this line will be better than they were last year. I for one am very excited to see how well the interior linemen play. I am not as concerned about the tackle positions as everyone else. I think Walker will do just fine over on the left side and Butler should be ok at RT.

The best part about this is that each spot is up for grabs at this point. I like the thought that whoever is the best will play at that spot. I think you will see the interior line move around a little bit. Either way, they should smack some ppl in the mouth this year.

  14. I think there have been more than a few WRs that have been more talented, or physically intimidating than Jerry Rice, but here's the thing: none of them match Rice in terms of work ethic, desire, and mental focus/attitude. That is what sets him apart from the rest of the supremely talented WRs in NFL history.

I think TO's work ethic and desire are at the top of that list as well. His mental focus/attitude are under constant watch.

At the end of the day, its possible that TO, and Moss's statistics both surpass Rice. And they most likely wont need 20 years to do it either.

I know statistics dont mean everything. But if that is how were finding greatness, its the best guide. Last I checked the HOF isnt based on the attitude and off the field production of players.

  15. #1 These rankings don't mean anything so settle down.

#2 If you think 19 out of 32 is "good" then your standards are too low.

IF Poz improves next year according to these "rankings" that will be good, IMO Poz has a lot to prove still.

Agreed. I like Poz but he has a ton to prove. And you are spot on about the 19 out of 32 teams. That puts him in the bottom half of the league as far as starting middle LB's are concerned. And anyone that says he only played 1 full year is full of it. He was there the entire time and able to learn the defense regardless of playing. How bout we compare him to Willis who was drafted the same year. Hes top 5, if not number 1.

  16. Really Jim? Then why did he give the guy a 3 year contract? If the Bills go 9-7 and don't make the playoffs, there is NO WAY Ralph is going to be paying two HC salaries for 2 years. He'll declare the year a great success and will welcome DJ back, as will at least 50% of this board.

He did it with Wade Phillips.

And he gave DJ a contract extension when the team was 4-0 or 5-1 and there was a ton of buzz about the entire organization. If the team does go 9-7 it would be successful considering the expectations on them this season by the rest of the country. Everyone thinks TO will destroy a team that was on the rise. IMO that is not true at all. This team needs some fire. Something DJ lacks. But if this team was on the doorstep of the playoffs and had a winning season that would be an upgrade over the past 9 years so yes, it would be a success. Would 50% be happy to welcome DJ back? I doubt that. Since most of us dont like him now. But most seem to agree that this is make or break for both DJ and Trent.

On that note. I wish all of you a happy Memorial Day weekend. Talk to you all on Tuesday.
