  1. No one will match Rice's stats. He averaged over 77 catches, 1,100 yards and 10 TD's a year.

Im not going to do that math. But if TO plays for about 4 more years and has his season averages that he has had, he will pass quite a few of rices records. Moss is the same. And they both would be played less seasons as rice. Look up their stats and prove it. You cannot.

  2. I think the line will be good already in 2009 and only get better after that.

I may be overly optimistic about LT, but I think Walker will do OK. The Peters thing messed up our minds somewhat in that we had perhaps the most talented LT in the game, but one who wouldn't really put out for us and actually was a net negative at times. Now we think we need another pro bowl LT for Trent to survive. But most teams get by fine with a decent LT if the rest of the line is good. I think that is where we will be this year.

I agree completely. I think this line will be better than they were last year. I for one am very excited to see how well the interior linemen play. I am not as concerned about the tackle positions as everyone else. I think Walker will do just fine over on the left side and Butler should be ok at RT.

The best part about this is that each spot is up for grabs at this point. I like the thought that whoever is the best will play at that spot. I think you will see the interior line move around a little bit. Either way, they should smack some ppl in the mouth this year.

  3. I think there have been more than a few WRs that have been more talented, or physically intimidating than Jerry Rice, but here's the thing: none of them match Rice in terms of work ethic, desire, and mental focus/attitude. That is what sets him apart from the rest of the supremely talented WRs in NFL history.

I think TO's work ethic and desire are at the top of that list as well. His mental focus/attitude are under constant watch.

At the end of the day, its possible that TO, and Moss's statistics both surpass Rice. And they most likely wont need 20 years to do it either.

I know statistics dont mean everything. But if that is how were finding greatness, its the best guide. Last I checked the HOF isnt based on the attitude and off the field production of players.

  4. #1 These rankings don't mean anything so settle down.

#2 If you think 19 out of 32 is "good" then your standards are too low.

IF Poz improves next year according to these "rankings" that will be good, IMO Poz has a lot to prove still.

Agreed. I like Poz but he has a ton to prove. And you are spot on about the 19 out of 32 teams. That puts him in the bottom half of the league as far as starting middle LB's are concerned. And anyone that says he only played 1 full year is full of it. He was there the entire time and able to learn the defense regardless of playing. How bout we compare him to Willis who was drafted the same year. Hes top 5, if not number 1.

  5. Really Jim? Then why did he give the guy a 3 year contract? If the Bills go 9-7 and don't make the playoffs, there is NO WAY Ralph is going to be paying two HC salaries for 2 years. He'll declare the year a great success and will welcome DJ back, as will at least 50% of this board.

He did it with Wade Phillips.

And he gave DJ a contract extension when the team was 4-0 or 5-1 and there was a ton of buzz about the entire organization. If the team does go 9-7 it would be successful considering the expectations on them this season by the rest of the country. Everyone thinks TO will destroy a team that was on the rise. IMO that is not true at all. This team needs some fire. Something DJ lacks. But if this team was on the doorstep of the playoffs and had a winning season that would be an upgrade over the past 9 years so yes, it would be a success. Would 50% be happy to welcome DJ back? I doubt that. Since most of us dont like him now. But most seem to agree that this is make or break for both DJ and Trent.

On that note. I wish all of you a happy Memorial Day weekend. Talk to you all on Tuesday.

  6. Punters have a job for a reason...because offenses get stopped often...doesn't have to be an amazing defense, just one that can stop someone

My point is that unless you have an absolutely sick defense like the 00' Ravens, you are at an advantage to get the ball first because the offense usually does the scoring. I cant think of any team that would chose to kick in OT because they have a better defense. They take the ball because the first team to score wins.

  7. That's the only change that should be made. To all the people bitching that teams who win the coin toss seem to win too much, I have this to say. The other team should try playing defense...either on the kickoff by actually covering the kick (or even an onside kick) or by trying to actually stop the opposing offense. It's a team game and if your defense and special teams aren't contributing, you don't deserve to win

The problem is that you have to score to win, and that usually only takes place when your on offense unless the opposing defense is just amazing, or the offense your playing just sucks.

  8. The owners are in constant discussions to expand the season to 18 games, eliminating 2 preseason games. I have a better idea. The league should consider eliminating 1 preseason game and increasing the season to 17 games. Each team would then play 1 non-divisional game at an international destination (so each team would have 8 home, 8 road and 1 independent). 2 games would be played each week from week 4 through 10, with 1 game in week 1 and week 11. Each team that would be playing in an overseas game would be either coming off or going into a bye week to allow for the extra travel time.

Adding an international game would help the league in so many ways:

    1. It will increase league revenue by having a 17th regular season game

    2. It will increase the NFL's world exposure (NFL Europe failed because the level of play sucked)

    3. The players would enjoy the overseas game (many of the players have never travelled outside of the US and it would benefit them both socially and culturally)

    4. It will allow US Expatriates to enjoy the world's greatest game live

Just think you could have annual games in London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Mexico City, Prague, Rome, etc. Basically any major city that has a soccer stadium with capacity of 75,000+. You would need to contain to destinations less than 8-10 hours away (i.e. Asia wouldn't work unless it was 2 west coast teams).

I could get behind that idea. I especially like the thought about a non-divisional game, and either before or after a bye. That would just be too smart. To think the NFL is that intelligent is wishful thinking.

  9. sorry for not replying but i was, how did you put it "flipping burgers"? the same argument that you use on me that "i don't know what he was doing in his cell" applies for you too, at this point it is just speculation. he could be the out of shape football retarded person i believe he is, or he can be the buff weightlifting quaterback god you think he is, the fact of the matter is that it is irrelevant because if football players got more buff in jail then training camp would be held at Levenworth prison.

how many times did we attempt(and fail) at the wild cat? the wild cat is not something to base your offense around because there are only so many plays you can run out of it. it is meant for fast paced drives to keep the defense on its toes, much the same way the no-huddle does. and i never said outright that the bills were running the no-huddle i said it "SEEMS" that we are, once again this is just speculation. at this point i think our team, and for that matter the quarterback is too young and inexperienced to run the no-huddle all the time so, like the wild cat it will be used to shock defenses. Vick would do very well in the wild cat, much like pat white because he has the ability to throw, but that doesn't mean he is good at it.

you see these players who look to run first...michael vick, vince young, jamarcus russell, daunte culpepper, aaron brooks, byron leftwich...are all bad players not because they are not athletic, but because they don't know how to manage a game. even john elway and steve young were bad when they looked to run first pass second but they learned how to slow the game down mentally and now they are both in the HOF. guys like michael vick are one-trick pony's, exciting yes, but very predictable. why do you think vince young went from rookie of the year to complete bust the second year? because teams figured out how to defend them...make them play quarterback, and don't rush him make your D-line play contain and form a pocket around him. once you do that the interceptions will start to come.

i have nothing against players like vick and i think he should be given the chance to play again, but i personally wouldn't offer him a contract (not because of off field issues) because he really has very little to offer this team. now if this team is commited(and i mean like miami commited where he is in for at least 1/3 of the offensive snaps) to the wild cat, not just a play or 2 here or there but really commited, then take a shot at him. i just really think that is not the position this team wants to go.

hmmm, what was your other argument...oh yeah there records how long has vick been in the league not to mention the number of offensive and head coaches he has gone through because they "just couldn't win". take a look at the eagles NFC championship game where the "untouchable" vick got sytematically gangbanged by an eagles defense that really didn't move more than 5 yards past line of scrimmage. they didn't chase him down, they waited him out and when he tried to run everywhere the eagles were disciplined and remained in there gaps. give Trent time, besides that is his wins as a starter so losses like the one against the cardinals (were he was injured on the first play) really had nothing to do with him.

    his numbers suck!

    http://thewiiremedia.revolutionreport.net/articles/927.jpg

There is no way to prove what shape Vick is in. Your comment is up for argument so is mine.

How many times did we attempt and succeed? Do you want to do the leg work to look up the % of plays we gained positive yards in the wildcat? or maybe you should find out the % of plays Miami gained yards in the wildcat. The fact is that it has shown that it works. Why? I have no idea. I think its absolutely rediculous and hate the fact that pro NFL teams are fooled by this formation. But it has been proven that it does work.

Russell and Culpepper are hardly run first QB's. Most would see them as mobile QB's that can but would hardly run first. Leftwich has NEVER been a run first QB. The guy is slow and had movement in the pocket, thats different from run first. Look at his rushing stats to prove me wrong if you want, you wont find them. Russell, Leftwich and Brooks just sucked/suck period. As bad as you think Vick and Young are, they are gods compared to the other 3. If im not mistaken Culpepper was a pro-bowl caliber QB for years and was on one of the most powerful offenses of all time until the Colts and Pats in recent years have knocked them off. Not to mention that Russell and Young are young and have alot of football to play and prove you wrong. And young went 8-8 his first year, and 10-6 his second year and made the playoffs. He was only benched because of his breakdown and suicide attempts.

Thank you for at least saying you have nothing agaist Vick coming back into the league and giving him another chance. However I feel that a previous starting QB with experience can offer quite a bit to this team. Would you really be more comfortable with Hamden taking snaps? Ask that one to yourself honestly. But I do agree that this team will not be interested and im ok with it either way. I just think he could help a team win in one way or another.

I only pointed out that Vick and Young had been to the playoffs in the past 7 years. The fact that they have won playoff games, and have winning records when all is said and done. My point is our team has not had a winning season in how many years? How would an expereinced QB not be a good thing? Especially one that has amazing physical ability. You can say all you want against those games they lost to Philly in the playoffs. The fact is that Philly went to the NFC Championship game for something like 4 years in a row. Oh by the way, they had McNabb a mobile/running QB when they beat Vick and every other team to make it that far, and to the SB.

I said before, I really like Trent. I have given him time and not judged him based on the horrible team/coaching weve had in the past few years. I also think he can/will lead us to the playoffs this year. Im not blaming games like the Cards loss on Trent, but dont think that Vick and Young didnt finish games and their backups won them for the two of them. It just didnt happen if at all, then often.

I will be the first to point out that statistics are very important in judging players good or bad. But there are more important things than stats. If stats are the only thing that mattered then Dan Marino would be the best QB of all time. The fact is that Vick and Young have winning records as starting QB's. It is a measurable stat.

  10. Maybe he was reading about how to get over de(prison)fences, but it's unlikely he was reading about football defenses.

I assume the last time you checked was 2004. That was the last time the Falcons had a winning record with Vick as starter. If you watched the Falcs in Vick's last 2 years you would realize the claim that "their physical abilities can win games alone" is factually incorrect. Young flat out sucks at QB---AND he's a moron.

If you want to show us all your balls, why don't you just lift a leg?

    Lighten up, Francis

    Reference please.

Its unlikely that he never worked out or thought about football at all. You must live a charmed life and no nothing about prison. There isnt much to do inside but workout, read, and think about your life. Good and bad. And no I have not been to prison, but I have multiple friends that are CO's and prolly know more about it then you do.

The records of both teams with their starting QB's since they have been the starters. Last I checked Young destroyed the Bills 2 years ago when it meant our playoff hopes. So if he sucks so bad I would hate to hear what you think about the Bills. Yes, the guy is an idiot but he can play. To say that since 2004 would just be rediculous. They both have winning records as starters and both ben to playoff games. Vick has won 2 of them, one of which was in GB when past December which no team had done in years prior to that.

    Falcons

2001 7-9 (rookie season, only played 8 games)

2002 9-6-1 (Beat GB in GB in Wild Card game)

    2003 5-11 (only played 5 games)

2004 11-5 (Beat STL in Divisional game, and lost to PHI who went on to lose in the SB)

    2005 8-8

    2006 7-9

    Titans

    2006 8-8 (rookie season played 15 games)

2007 10-6 (lost to SD in Wild Card game)

Glad to see you thought about my balls when all I was doing is stating how much I support the team.

I wont lighten up. Schobel94 made a personal comment to me and I backed it up. How bout I tell you to take a seat and not get involved with things that dont concern you.

  11. I totally agree.. In his last year playing Vick threw for 2,474 yards with 20 TD's, 13 picks and a 52.6 completion percentage. He also ran for 1,039 yards and 2 TD's. When is the last time a Bills quarterback gave us 22 touchdowns? As a player Vick could definitely help the team. Think about what putting a player like Vick on the field in the redzone could do.

Thank you for the statistics. Proves that Vick threw for more TD's in one season than Cinco has in 2 years. Sure his % isnt as hight as Trents, but the guy can win games.

  12. He would help win games....but,

I'll take 10-6 and fighting for our playoff lives with TE over selling Buffalo's soul to the national media devil and going 12-4 with a convicted felon.

Dont we already have criminals on this team? Lynch, Whitner, Simpson? Every team has issues. Im sure the Pats arent all choir boys either. And yes, I would take 10-6 too if that were even in question. So far everyone is questioning even winning 6 or 7 games this year. The guy made a few mistakes. As sick of hearing the "paid his debt to society" statement you are it is true. I would like to think that if someone is rehabilitated they deserve a chance to prove it. If everyone took your stance then why bother letting anyone out of prison ever? Just execute everyone that has ever stolen a hubcap, smoked a little pot or had a DUI. I know, theres a big difference between that and murdering dogs. Let me ask you this.... how many times did you or anyone else as a kid shoot birds, squirrels, frogs, snakes with a BB gun? Have you been forgiven for that? Different all together I know, its not mans best freind, your not a kid anymore...blah, blah, blah. If your family or freinds did something like this would you hope they would find a job in the real world when they got out of prison? Im willing to bet you would hire your mother at your business even if she killed someone.

  13. "If it wasn't for his running" ???

Thats like saying if it wasn't for Shaq's size he wouldn't of been a great NBA Center.

Running is what makes him unique and dangerous.

Btw, the most important stat that you mentioned is the W/L record.

You crack me up Magox. So true. You also could have said, w/o Jerry Rice's hands he would have been an average WR. LOL. Im not saying I exactly want him on the team, but if someone honestly thinks his ability wouldnt help win games they are nuts.

  14. You have to love blogs. It only takes a controversial subject and people are ready to throw down. We are all Bills fans here and are each entitled to your own opinion. If you are not a Bills fan, then you are entitled to nothing and can go root for a team that won't win Super Bowl 49.

I only throw down with people that are actually worth it. He questioned my support for the team, I gave it.

  15. You might welcome him, but don't speak for everyone. That guy was an *sshole long before anyone heard of him mistreating animals. I have been down in Virginia now for 16 years, so I was aware of him since his high school days. He was a total dick when it came to community around here. He didn't show up for his own charity golf tournament, he sent his dad instead. When we asked his dad where he was, his dad said he was playing catch with his brother (another stellar Virginian) in the backyard. This area puts out some real winners, Vick, Percy Harvin, Iverson, Plaxico Burress. People wonder why I tell them Western New York will always be home for me. You think T.O. brings media and publicity, as much as I think signing him will bite the Bills in the rearend, the Vick signing would be a ten times worse and a total Publicity nightmare.

I really had no idea he was an !@#$ other than the Ron Mexico, and Dog thing. What are some of the other things hes done? Im serious.

  16. your joking right? because if your not you need to leave this site. first of all he has been out of the league for 2 years so whatever upside to his game has deteriorated. second, what is this obsession with the wildcat offense? let miami run it if they want because its an offense that doesn't work (they only use it like 6 plays in the entire game) and it SEEMS we are commited to the no-huddle this year (which Vick is too stupid to run). the guy couldn't manage a game at normal speeds and you want him to take control of a no-huddle offense? check the WL record...when edwards was in, most of the time we won. not to mention the NFL has figured out how to defend against guys like Vick and V Young thats why they suck...make them pass and don't rush them, play contain with your d-line. this site is for bills fans and its pretty clear you have no idea what you are talking about. you don't like edwards, fine i am not saying you have to, but to say michael vick who hasn't touched a ball in 2 years should be handed the starting job of any franchise let alone this one is absurd.

Who the F*#K are you to tell me to leave this site?!?

You have no factual evidence that his game has deteriorated do you? Were you a CO in Leavenworth and watched him every day in the yard get fat and slow? Did you watch him sit in his cell and do nothing? For all you know he was hitting the weights and running every day, and reading up on football defences.

I dont have an obsession with the wildcat or like it but the league is. Unless I am wrong we ran it a few times last year along with the rest of the copy cat teams in the leauge. And it proved that it did work. Im not looking up stats to prove you wrong, you can just be ignorant about it.

How much factual knowledge do you have that we will be running a no-huddle this year? Because Tim Graham and John Clayton wrote about it? Because the Bills said they were? They said that last year too, along with saying they would be using the FB alot more, and none of it happened. And how do you know Vick is too stupid to run it? Have you ever spoken to him? Whats his IQ? Better yet whats yours?

The Win/Loss record of Trent is 12-11 as a starter. If you call that most of the time I wonder how you manage your life. Do you consider being hired at McDonalds, Burger King and Moes most of the time in terms of job inquiries since you also applied to Taco Bell and Mighty Taco(man if you only got that Mighty job you would have been so cool). Michael is 41-31 in his career.

Last I checked Vick and Young were winning games. One of the only reasons why Young was benched was because of his mental make up. The league has not figured out how to beat them they were benched or are out of the league for other reasons. Their physical abilities can win games alone. No they are not the brightest in the league but you dont need to be smart to play football. Just like Dick Juron is extremely smart, but cant figure out when to throw a challenge flag. He also has more rushing TD's than Trent has passing.

I haved proved multiple times that I do have a clue what I am talking about. I have season tickets and until the day I die will be a Bills fan. I show up at 8am every home game to tailgate in rain, snow or shine and havent missed a game in 3 years, Ive been to the draft in NYC, Ive seen Bills players inducted into the HOF, Ive traveled cross-country to see the Bills play away games even during seasons of absolute hell. Who the hell are you to judge me!?!

The stats dont lie. He is better than Trent in his career as a starting QB. I happen to be a huge fan of Trent and believe that he can lead us to the playoffs if you ask my opinion. A backup or situational QB is never a bad thing. I never said anything about him being handed the starting job at all. All I said was that he should be given a chance. And the media coverage alone would help this team become more relevant and sell tickets than in the past. I also said that I didnt think it would happen because we already have our BACKUP QB!!! I just wouldnt be against it.

Now go F*$k yourself and get back to flipping your burgers and asking if they want fries with that.

  17. QB win-loss records are as irrelevant as goalie win-loss records. They do not necessarily measure a players ability. Vick is a below average QB. He is a great runner from that position but not a good passer. Would you take Vick over any of the other QB's you mentioned. I would not. I do not care if he plays in this league again, but I do not want nor do I think the Bills would ever consider signing him.

I would not take him over any of those other QB's. But facts are facts. He didnt exactly play on high caliber teams like the rest of those supermen either. To say that he sucked would be an opinion since he has proved to win games regardles of his QB rating, TD's or passing yards. I personally would like to see him play in this league again, only for the thought that he paid his debt to society by serving 2 years in prison and deserves to be given another chance. And you along with everyone else thought the team would never sign T.O. either.

My point is that this team needs to win. Vick has proven in the past that he can do that, and Trent has proven that he is average at best so far. I am a huge believer in Trent. But he has had injury problems the past 2 years, and if he cant get it done this year with all the weapons he has then he is not the answer.

  18. Not only is this guy total scum (even before the dog fighting bit), he is a sh1tty quarterback. He blows. I'll pass.

Really? what was it that he did before that dog fighting that made him a scumbag? And if you look at the stats since he has been in the league he has the 5th highest win% of QB's with over 40+ starts at this point. Thats right, Brady, Manning, Mcnabb, Favre are all on that list.

    http://www.sportsfrog.com/2006/12/16/lay-o...-vick-a-little/

  19. There have been all of these postings and articles on the Bills pursuing Vick. Let's get down to brass tacs - Yes or No?

I personally feel absolutely not. People constantly compare him to T.O. with respect to Public Relations. I feel that this is not valid. T.O. both off the field and on the field is stellar and HOF material. He is boisterous and obnoxious and gets on people's nerves, but he plays to win and is generally star who, due to his high profile status, has everything blown out of proportion (both positive and negative). Love him or hate him you have to respect him.

Vick on the other hand has been historically overrated. He is a great runner yes, but his QB skills are a serious question mark. In addition, he is a felon (who I admit served his time) that has been out of the game for 2 years and would be a political nightmare to bring in. Do you really want PETA protestors at the Ralph? Bottom line - he is controversial for all of the wrong reasons.

He has paid his debt to society, Could prolly come in and be a better QB than Trance Checkwards, and national media would make the Bills the biggest story in the NFL. Good or bad, it would be an upgade over irrelevance. Worst case scenario Vick would have to come in and play when Cinco goes down. He would make this offense absolutely scary to play against. Best case scenario is that he would only come in 4 times a game in a wildcat formation and Cinco stays healthy and wins the starting QB spot outright. With all that said they signed a backup QB and they wont be getting rid of Hamden so it prolly wont happen. I wouldnt be against it if they did tho.

    Flame away
