Here is a link to online NFL rule book https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/fumbling-in-the-end-zone/ and here is relevant excerpt about what a fumble is : “A fumble is any act, other than a pass or kick, which results in a loss of player possession.” Amazing that it does not mention ground anywhere....

For remedial homework, please research NFL definition of a fumble. I believe you won’t find a reference to the ball needing to hit the ground.

You know this because you’ve coached teams before ? if someone isn’t getting the job done and there is someone else behind him that can make things happen, you bench the guy. That’s how it’s done on sports teams. Unless Tua has a fragile psyche , he will learn from the experience .
