I agree. But I worry that Parrish's current deal makes it difficult to move him since he is unproven as a receiver. NOT saying he can't do it, but so far, at the NFL level, he has either not been allowed to showcase it or is not being passed to. So, most likely it would require a draft pick (as you mentioned). I think a 3rd would be fair since we took him with a 2nd, and the salary relief and perhaps proven player at LB would be two birds with one stone. But, as has been the history of John Guy and the Bills, I bet Pat Thomas is coming back. Isn't the old, beat up Zach Thomas a Free Agent as well? I'd even be looking at trading Owens to another team for another team need (offensive line). No, this Bills team will most likely do things on the cheap and bring back Pat Thomas.

Argh! There are tons of issues with this team, that Trent is not SOLELY the cause of all of these woes. I agree with RW that the O-line- which everyone expected prior to season, BTW- is horrendous. Going back to the Cleveland game, and look at all of those false start penalties. They were mostly (if not all) on manageable, 3rd down situations. Taking those penalties, pushed the Bills into unmanageable 3rd and long situations. If this continues this week, as is expected, the Jets will literally eat Edwards raw. But Edwards does hurt himself. If pass rush and pass blocking is such an issue, why not use 3 step drops? These CB's and defenses are not all that good. Watching other teams play the Patriots, Bucs, Saints, and Browns players can catch balls and make plays. Why not more screens? More quick slants and curls? Edwards does make simple, safe decisions most of the time. Is he having trouble seeing the field? Does he lack the confidence to stand in the pocket (often rightfully so)? Are his receivers truly fighting for the ball? Where is Evans? For his contract, he should demand more passes based on his ability. Evans can't get open? How can defenses keep both Evans and Owens doubled up? Where has the "pass catching TE" Derek Fine been? Why do the Bills have such a hard time drafting impact players? Shawn Nelson comes to mind. Why is he not performing at all? Is he stupid? Why do other teams seem to find rookies that can come in and be plugged in right away in a passing game, but the Bills struggle? James Hardy comes to mind. Would a 4 receiver set help w/an emphasis on quick releases and 3 step drop, timed passes? The issues are more widespread than just Edwards.

And? So? Why would we want more of the same by trading for Brady Quinn?
-
That would be a move way to smart for this Bills front office.

Good point. Cowher wants the money and Carolina. Shanahan wants control and an owner willing to commit to doing what it takes to win (Washington really wants him). Same thing could be said for Holmgren- though things have been quiet on his front. Gruden would probably be just what this organization needs, but he probably would never come to the cold, desolate place Buffalo is. Which, as much as Marty-ball fails to produce in the playoffs, makes Schott's an interesting candidate. He might be the only one since he has ties to the Bills and is no stranger to the weather.

YEah, and just replace the HC is a really lame argument when Modrak and Guy have produced nothing during their 10 year tenure. Oh, in case you couldn't read that, I said TEN year tenure. As in TEN. Ten years of nothing. Futility. 1st round draft picks are often like a rush of adrenaline to a team. They can help to turn a franchise around. With all of the high picks of the past few years, who have they produced? I will give the ok to Lee Evans and Marshawn Lynch. I like Eric Wood. I think Maybin will be a star. Maybe McElvin. But they have also produced Mike Williams, Drew Bledsoe (trade), JP Losman, John McCargo, and Donte Whitner (jury is still out). They have collectively wasted more #1's than gained any benefits. That isn't coaching. Replace Modrak for his nothingness. Guy has produced Robert Royal, Larry Triplett, was in the running for Darwin Walker (is he still even playing?), Derrick Dockery, and Langston Walker. Stroud is a good pickup. But who let Antoine Winfield and Pat Williams go? London Fletcher? Spikes was injured and Clements was way out of the market. Guy should go as well. So, until the Bills get real personnel men, it really does not matter who the coach is.

I agree with you on Shanahan. Or Holmgren. Both are qualified coaches and GM's. Get rid of Modrak and Guy along with Jauron. Move good 'ol Russ back to marketing and share COO duties with Overdorf. There is no reason NOT to do it this season. Why wait? What continuity would be ruined by pulling the trigger now? How much better are the Bills going to get? There is a bye week coming up, and I would rather have someone in place and some moves made prior to then and also prior to the upcoming trade deadline which I believe is this Tuesday. I like tonight's ESPN talk about possibly trading TO. I was not on board with this when I first read it here, but after listening to Schefter's points, it makes perfect sense (Bills would be off the hook for $4 million of salary, could maybe get something (LB) in return, TO won't be back next year)...but ah, heck! There I go again! John Guy is still in the organization. HE'd probably try to trade for Derrick Dockery or something.

No. He has already said, on multiple occasions through the past 10 years, that he has absolutely 0 interest in coaching. Ownership he seems partly interested in. Coaching? No.
-
c'mon!! Woulda, coulda, SHOULDA! If McElvin had held onto that ball, we would have won!
-
you seem to have forgotten the other coordinators (Mike Nolan) that were also mentioned. I have 3 words for you: NO MORE COORDINATORS!!!!
-
I agree with the GM stuff. But "Where is Maybin"? Did you forget that the guy heldout forever and was one of the last 3 rookies to sign? That is where Maybin is. He is weeks behind...ah, heck. I just realized how much the Bills suck I don't know why Maybin is not on the field. My bad.
-
Let's see, he was with the Bills in '04, '05, and '06 as our national scout. Maybe you can help me here...who exactly did he draft in those 3 seasons that is on this current "team", that is worth a damn?
-
"Where did I put my prune juice?"
-
Ok, now that IS going too far...
-
My sentiments, exactly. Overdorf is responsible...what a nut.
-
What kind of crack rock are you smoking? Overdorf does contracts. That's it. Modrak and Guy are the real culprits.

Call me when it works. There are far too many idiotic lemmings that continue to pay for Bills and Sabres season tickets because they "gotta support the team" despite the fact that management will never put a superior product on the field if people continue to flock to the gates for mediocrity. Same thing with politics. People vote on a promise of "change", then keep re-electing the same gerrymandering, scumbag, carpet bagging, career politicians to office. And no one can figure out why things are the way they are. Hmmmm.....

an unexpected problem for the Bills this year:
Red replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the realistic side, and after reading Brian Billick's book (which, I am glad no one is asking for him to come coach the Bills), we know that coaches salaries come out of the teams (and therefore the owner's) pockets. It makes sense that for a small market club like Buffalo, for Ralph to profit mightily he would have to go cheap on GM and on the coaching staff. I am of the belief that Ralph is preparing the team for his demise. He is not doing what it obviously takes to win (stocking the front office with competent, winning football people), and does not appear to have any impetus to change this implosion any time soon. Every one gives him so much credit for being a smart businessman, but how could you, for 10 years, put out such an inferior product and be at peace with it? How could you blame Tom Donahoe for taking you to the cleaners when all you had to do was check in every now and then? I feel bad for the guy. His health probably prevents him from tearing the place apart like he would like. But in the history of RW, with the exception of Bill Polian, has he ever done anything right in the hiring of a personnel department? Sure, not going out at halftime of yesterdays abomination was shrewd. It was classy. But it was also somewhat about self-preservation, since it appears even though that he was at the game, and had to cancel his ceremony, the clunker he watched from his millions of dollars is not causing any changes at OBD. And how about that cancelled ceremony? What a bunch of loser players we have. Can anyone honestly tell me, that the guy who is providing them with the paycheck and the opportunity to be a professional football player and live a dream and not one of them, not a single one, can get extra revved up to put on a good show to make their owner proud? Not one? Bunch of losers. -
Sorry guys...Dick ain't going nowhere now...
Red replied to Heels20X6's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, call me when that works. And while you're at it, get every knucklehead who also buys Sabres season tickets to stop buying things until ownership puts the money onto the field, and not their pockets. Good luck! -
Dude, the Bills have gambled and lost so many times on "hot coordinators" that it will be an outrage if anything less than a real, proven named winning Head Coach is hired. I'm sick of promising coordinators.

There is nothing absurd about your pics, Dib. Oo momma!

Should the Bills trade Lee Evans to Dolphins?
Red replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you! Trading Evans to a Division rival (like trading a 1st round pick to the Patriots for Bledsoe) just simply stinks of media stupidity. Modrak must go. Guy has REALLY got to go. Brandon needs to shuffle back to marketing and can stay as COO for all I care. Jauron needs to pack his bags. A real GM or coach/ GM (Shanahan, Holmgren) need to be brought in to chart a course. Nix can be promoted to head of college scouting. Maybe even get rid of some scouts and get some quality new ones. Maybe a few free agent moves can be made now to protect from the injuries (Runyan, Brooks). Trades? Only with new management. Cuz john guy s-u-c-k-s! -

NOT if Modrak and Guy are still calling the shots with this team. You could have every draft pick and those 2 baffoons would still build a losing team. -
Yeah, you know at about the 3rd quarter point yesterday, after something like the 20th false start penalty, I was so numb to the experience I really do not know how a player or coach can continue to care after the effort that was being put out yesterday. Could I stand through it? I thought, "well, if I handed my headset to perhaps assistant coach April, walked off the field into the locker room, what would happen?" "Would the team get it?" "Would the front office get it?" How can you even think about getting ready for the Jets after this past Sunday? If I was on the D-Line (the only seemingly functional part of the team), I would be concerned for my health and well being.
-
You know, I agree with that. If Holmgren or the equivalent would take the job- alot don't want to come in during a season- but IF one would, why not start now? Modrak and Guy certainly have not justified their salaries. Besides, despite the injuries to the entire LB corp and to all of our Tackles, it doesn't sound like any free agents will be brought in to shore up the depth anyways. And even if they did bring somebody in, can we really trust Guy to really get the right player that will actually help the team? What is hanging on to Dick going to do for wins this season? Hanging onto these bozo's will only make this a prolonged, excrutiatingly painful experience for all of us. Getting rid of them now almost gives you an entire season to rebuild and get your plan in place. And who knows? Maybe it even would spark those wussy Bills on the team to wake up and start playing for their jobs. Get 'er done Ralph!
