With Kris Jenkins out...why didn't we run it up the gut?
-
Watching the continuous special teams errors, from the 1st game against the Patsies to this game against the Jets, what the heck is wrong with Special Teams? Ok, the only constant in the Modrak/ Guy era is that they sure know how to scout and develop one of the best special teams squads in the league for their tenure thus far (offense and defense are another thing). Consistent league leaders on coverage and in the return game. Now, the league changed the 3-man wedge rule making it illegal. There was some personnel change, as there is every year. But the fumbles, the fumbles, the mistakes, the penalties, and now Josh Reed can't get out of the way of a punt, which would give the pop-gun, pop-warner offense the Bills have another chance at 3-and-out. Man, if I played defense for the Bills I would demand to be traded. But I digress... What has suddenly happened to the Special Teams, the LONE bright spot on the Bills? And where is this proverbial master coach of special teams, Bobby April when he is needed most? And now, where's Roscoe?

I Feel an upset is gonna happen today.
Red replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too. I truly can't stomach these Modrak-drafted, Guy-signed, Jauron-coached Bills much longer. That sense of impending upset would be gastric, my friend. -
hahahahahahaha! Nice answer. It really says it all.
-
Ah...you have John Guy and Tom Modrak to thank for that.
-
Yeah, I ultimately have to agree with you. I'm watching KC vs Washington down here in the DC area, and I would have loved if the Bills had acquired G Brian Waters from the Chiefs. Apparently, the are slim on WR's. Parrish and maybe a 5th for Waters would be a great deal, IMO. Then trade Owens and get the 5th back. I don't see a problem with compiling draft picks...providing it is for the NEXT REGIME. But if Modrak and Guy are still with the Bills next year...then the futility will continue.
-
TO makes no difference to the Bills as they fail to use him. After this horrific season, he will be gone and the Bills will have nothing in return. If they trade him now, 1.) they will get SOMETHING in return for him and 2.) I believe that I read if he gets traded prior to the Tuesday deadline the Bills are not on the hook for 2/3 of his salary (what is that, like $4 million?). Sounds like a deal to me. Start stockpiling draft picks so that ONCE MODRAK AND GUY ARE FIRED, we can hire a real GM and scouting staff (Promote Nix) to get us the most bang for our buck and turn this team around.

Aaron Kampman struggling in 3-4 Defense
Red replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree. Schobel is a pretty good DE for the Bills. Has been for his career. Currently #2 all time for Bills sacks behind none other than my all-time favorite football player Bruce Smith. That's pretty good company. -
Aaron Kampman struggling in 3-4 Defense
Red replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, perhaps having an increased amount of interceptions returned for touchdowns BECAUSE of a mean pass rush would help. I would love to give up both Owens and Parrish for Kampman. -
rb's i would hate to tackle if i were in secondary

Currently I would add Jamal "Growth Hormone" Anderson. -
Love the mud, the grime, the spirit, and the hustle. Man, and to have a QB who can make quick decisions...

Or perhaps because "people like you" keep writing jack @$$ replies...

I tell 'ya, Mora's approach and answer was extremely sobering and is desperately needed in this PC-extreme culture. That type of response puts an end to the pampering and stroking of million dollar egos that can't throw a pass over 10 yards, block a defensive lineman, or catch a pass thrown slightly outside of their numbers. But after watching this years futility, it is hard to put this all on Jauron. Now, before all of you knuckleheads spout off in typical knee-jerk fashion claiming I want to keep Jauron- please stop before you get started, because I don't think he should be kept. But Jauron is not under center on Sunday's. HE's not lining up against the opposing teams D-line. HE's not running patterns. Put yourself in those shoes. Can you imagine watching your team of supposedly intrinsically motivated individuals come out and lay such an egg as a 6-3 loss to the lowly Cleveland Browns AT HOME, a team that you were supposed to beat and are more talented than? How would you come out and answer questions? How could you even tolerate standing on the sideline in such a garbage-fest? Mora's response would have been appropriate last week. Perhaps there needs to be some distance created between Jauron and these players, since they seemingly respond negatively to being coddled. These guys need a firm boot kicked up their collective a$$e$ on a regular basis until the desired end result is achieved (playoffs). But Modrak and Guy should be led out the door along with Jauron because they have just as much responsibility for fielding substandard talent that can't just find a way to win on a regular basis.

Bills to dump No Huddle Per PFT
Red replied to MartyBall4Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, as much as I loved the K-gun offenses of the past, and the Manning led offenses of this past decade, when TO came onboard I truly believed that the quicker pace would actually be a boon for the young offensive lineman and make it easier for them to execute, and harder for defenses to substitute and lessen the creativity of their blitzes and looks. Somehow, bonehead, drive-killing penalties were not expected. The Bills were not too bad of an offense with huddling. I don't mean that statistically, but they did only need a #2 receiver to really improve. Maybe the no-huddle was a stumbling block to learning and feeling comfortable on the field, I don't know. In today's Buffalo News, the Jets Lito Sheppard thinks the Bills should be gameplanning for Owens in the offense. Perhaps his one key quote, was that it was the poor pass protection that is what is causing Trent to look away from his receiver options and having to checkdown. I believe that is more truthful coming from a defensive player on a divisional opponent scouting the Bills for an upcoming game that anything the Bills, this site, or any of the players will ever say. The O-line is the issue folks. -
per the Bills site, he resigned with the Raiders.

The NFL product as a whole- where do you rank it?

VEry interesting, indeed! -
The NFL product as a whole- where do you rank it?
Red replied to LongLiveRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Current economy notwithstanding, I think the NFL is the premier sport league in the world (sorry Soccer fans- we have the real football). The rags-to-riches story is truly an American story. It's an incredibly violent sport (read: anchient gladiatorial games, the failing health, nagging injuries, and shortened life expectancy of NFL players once retired), forthwith the public willingly gobbles it up and demands more. We're addicted. And the NFL has done a great job controlling the message. The network deals, the merchandise sales, the television ratings for the annual NFL draft, all echo this addiction. I truly hope that we don't experience a work stoppage any time soon. I hope the two players in the upcoming labor dispute between players and owners is resolved prior to '11. But I believe that the NFL is truly the premier league in the world of sport. -
Let's Be Honest...the Bills have only had one good decade.
Red replied to Tarrytown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been avoiding that sad reality for almost a decade now (or pretty much since Kelly retired). To be fair, lets not forget the old AFL Bills who won it all in, what...'64 and '65? Then the league merged, and the Bills were still strong for a few years. But history does not lie. The Bills have been perhaps one of the most futile NFL squads since their inception. Unfortunately, that does speak volumes about Wilson. Sometimes I wonder if he currently is not atleast partially walking down Al Davis lane. The decisions made are weak, feeble, security-blanket-type of decisions; they lack confidence, a DIRECTION, or plan for winning and improving, etc. Sometimes I think that Wilson is just making the bare minimum decisions so as to not upset the apple cart and risk fielding a team so horrendous that should something happen to him, it would dramatically alter the value of the team when it would come up for sale. Almost an extreme avoidance of gambling on putting all of your eggs in 1 basket of a GM whom may or not build a winner. How else can you explain these "safe" (keeping Jauron, Modrak, Guy) decisions? Now, I sincerely hope that this is not the case. But a part of me thinks that maybe in Ralph's mind, given his history as owner of the Bills, that maybe his current thinking is something akin to buying a life insurance policy. To me, its always a grim topic. But it is inevitable. Ralph is a businessman. Has always been. Could he be looking at keeping things average and mediocre in the event of his demise it would make for an easier sale and therefore be less of a burden on a family that has already said they want nothing to do with the team? Just thinking out loud... -
HAving lived in LA for a few years, it is not a football town and those fickle fans won't pay for a loser. Having said that, the Jaguars look like the team most likely to move anytime soon. Unlike Buffalo, Jacksonville does not have a 'Toronto-like' market north, south, or anywhere near its city limits with which to expand to. They are pretty much stuck with what they have got, and this is the team that blocks off several sections of its own stadium to avoid the NFL blackout rule. Regardless of RW, methinks the Jags would be the first team to ever move.

Bills Receiver Topic on Sportscenter this morning
Red replied to 3cheesenacho's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please stop the "Trade for Brady Quinn" garbage. Trading Parrish for something of value would be a great idea. I like Shawn Rogers. As far as Cribbs is concerned, word is he is going to be asking for much more money, and possible out of Cleveland. Personally I think that Mangini will try to build an offense around him, and he stays. But how did we all of sudden get on trading with Cleveland? -
The Positive Things In The Bills Play This Year Are:
Red replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My sentiments, exactly. And I really like the job Eric Wood is doing. He has made his share of mistakes, but his attitude looks and sounds like a real improvement over Walker, Dockery, Preston, Fowler, etc. He looks promising. -
Should the Bills trade Lee Evans to Dolphins?
Red replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
YEah, I like that. Use those picks on O-linemen (after Modrak and Guy are gone), and allow Johnson and Hardy to show what they have got. -

Red replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Williams? HELLO?!?? Modrak cannot draft offensive linemen! Fire Modrak & Guy, get a real GM, THEN you can build your offensive line.
