  1. I will LOVE this signing if the following occur: 1.) He finds a way to manage his "temper" so as to not do something stupid which costs a penalty, has him ejected, etc. 2.) He plays up to his potential 3.) the Bills sign him to a long term contract, thus keeping him in Bills land for many moons to come and 4.) He looks for the officials, sees none watching, and punches Wilfork in the gut after every play.
  2. AS I have been starting alot of my posts in recent weeks, I live in the Metro DC area. Thus, I am often subject to all things Redskins. There are a few answers to your questions. 1.) Cerrato and Snyder are reportedly very close friends. I saw a news broadcast calling them best friends. My understanding is that it came down to a conversation and conclusion between 2 good friends that the direction Cerrato had taken the team is not the direction Snyder wants it to go down. To save face, Cerrato resigned and was not fired (as he deserved to be). The other thing to consider, is that in Redskin land, besides Joe Gibbs the next greatest name (or greater?) name is George Allen. Bruce Allen is related- as in comes from the same family as George Allen. I think a great portion of the speed of the hiring has alot to do with the familial relation, as you have to admit, there was not a grooming period as so many teams seem to have (see Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns). It was a mutual desire to be together from ownership and Bruce Allen. Rumors are now swirling that Allen will start working on getting Gruden out of the broadcast booth because of their shared success in Oakland and Tampa. I will tell you, that Allen topped my list of candidates for GM of the Bills. I too, recognized his relationship with Gruden and hoped that such a move would have been in favor of the Bills, and allowed us to get them both. So, while I am happy for the Redskins (as this will probably be the move that puts them back in the playoffs and Super Bowl in the next few seasons), I was equally disappointed that the Bills, once again, missed out. 2.) Holmgren is a "free agent". He can do what he wants. News reports about him being contacted by the Bills (which surprised me) had him flat out saying "NO" to any talk with Buffalo. The sureness of that answer, really ticked me off. Cowher atleast had some class by saying that he would prefer to wait until the end of the year. But Holmgren's response has me scratching my head with the proverbial WNY inferiority complex. What is wrong with Buffalo? Is Holmgren stating that CLEVELAND is a better destination? Really? I mean, they did beat the Bills the past 2 seasons in games we should never have lost, but REALLY!??!? That is when I was cured of the big name coach desire. I realized that with Tom Modrak and John Guy and some of our bum scouts still in place next season, and with a marketing guy in charge of football decisions, we will never reach the playoffs regardless of the coaching staff. I realized that a proven, "big" name GM and talent evaluators in the front office are much smarter, and have a more lasting effect on a franchise than any coach will ever have. The time is now to staff our front office with competent football MEN (note: not singular), starting with a GM. We need to get back to the front office structure of our Super Bowl years, where we arguably had atleast 4 GM's in the front office in Polian, Butler, Smith, and Nix. When those 4 left, so did our winning ways. Now, Nix is back. There are up-and-coming, future GM's available for hiring and grooming. And there are proven, NFL GM's still available (Bruce Allen hurt) in Floyd Reese, Charley Casserly, Mike Lombardi, and Ron Wolf. Call it dreaming, and it is a reach, but if Ralph is serious I would approach Parcells. He is not bound to the Dolphins and is free to go at any time. We need to have one of the proven guys leading the charge, Nix taking over Modrak's post as Director of Scouting, and getting a proven up-and-comer run our Pro Personnel Department. There are 3 weeks left in the season. Buffalo needs to strike while the iron is hot. Allen hurts (IMO), and having Shanahan as both GM and coach is too much for anyone to do both jobs well. I like firing Guy and Modrak, promoting Nix, hiring an outsider with a proven eye for talent for Pro Personnel, and hire a proven NFL GM. Then I don't care who the coach is- well, as long as it's NOT Billick or Martz.
  3. Agreed. It's about time we got some mean @$$, nasty mud-eating dudes up front. Add a couple of mean tackles to the mix, and we're set. GO BILLS!
  4. Bringing in Simmons and Incognito should help shore up our interior offensive line. I feel good with Wood, Incognito and Simmons. Levitre and Hangartner as reserves. I also like Butler. It's at the tackle positions that we need help. Bell may very well project into a Pro-Bowl player one day- he reminds me of Peters in his athleticism- but that day is not now. He is still a bit raw and needs a good 1 to 2 seasons training, practicing, and being coached up to eventually take over the position. Same thing with Meredith. He looks like an excellent development, and I do applaud the Bills for landing him. I feel that we need to draft a Tackle with our #1 pick this year, and then sign a free agent tackle for the opposite side in free agency. Chambers should never see the field of OBD after this season, and I'm not too impressed with Scott. I sincerely hope that Incognito pays off, and that we hang on to him for years to come. Wood was already playing with the fire I like to see in an offensive lineman. Now Incognito. Butler had somewhat of a mean streak, too. I like the new attitude. Besides, we need more people to punch Wilfork in the gut for all of HIS cheap shots over the years...
  5. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Now, I just about spewed coffee out of my nose. That was awesome!
  6. Could not agree more.
  7. Oh boy. I was hoping that the Bills would be working to get Allen. I hope we don't $#!t the bed with this one. We really need a GM.
  8. Now if we could just lose our dead weight in Tom Modrak & John Guy I will truly celebrate.
  9. Bills need a GM and a pro personnel department. Then, I don't care who the coach is.
  10. Living in the DC area, I get to see alot of Jason Campbell. I will admit that he has been looking better- but that only started once the offense was taken away from Zorn and given to Sherm Lewis. Once Lewis arrived, the Redskin offense is crisp, efficient, and it has those traits of the old dominant teams of the 80's and 90's in the NFC- building a strategy and offensive flow based on what works and what is available from a defense and then using misdirections, roll-outs, bootlegs, play fakes, etc to control the flow. Prior to Lewis, Campbell was looking terrible. Losman-esque.
  11. Man, they can compile meaningless stats for anything. Alot of good that passer rating has on our win-loss record. And who wants to pass, when there are 20 yard holes being opened up to run through? A more important stat would be where we rank in run defense...
  12. Too touch to call. It was between Peters fanboys and Losman fanboys. Ultimately, I had to go with the Peters fanboys. Because they really annoy me.
  13. It's about time we start getting some nasty @$$ offensive linemen on this team. Butler was a start, and Wood is the man, the Buffalo News mentioned that Levitre is laying people out, and now Incognito. People have been clamoring for Runyan, and when Runyan was in his prime he was also known as one of the cheapest, dirtiest offensive linemen. As long as he doesn't constantly take stupid false start penalties, and is not getting burned on unsportsmanlike calls, and he adds consistency and fire to this team, this may be an excellent pick-up. I'd love to finally have a mauling offensive line that gets into opponents heads. And let's not forget that the other team racing to claim this guy is the Bill Parcells Dolphins. I truly hope that this makes up for us losing out on Cameron Wake to the hated 'Fins.
  14. It's really too bad Harrison, Vrabel, and Seymour are no longer with the Pats. Having a guy like Incognito with his dirty reputation, I would have loved someone to push those 3 Patsies around a little extra.
  15. And I will add that it was the BILL PARCELLS led Dolphins that joined us at the gate. IF this guy pans out and we do retain him, our losing ways may finally have paid off.
  16. Now, how would Mitchell know this...exactly?
  17. I go...nuts...when the Bills lose...
  18. Now all we need is to sign Vick, and extend Owens contract, and we are set.
  19. Man, this trade banter is truly worthless. Why would we trade a #1 selected CB who has yet to grow into his britches- so to speak? We would just have to eventually spend another draft pick on the position anyways. We will now have 2-3 solid corners on the roster with McGee, McKelvin, and Florence. Corner was awesome before this season too, and I don't know what happened to Youboty. Leave McKelvin (and his lawn) alone.
  20. By some odd stroke of coincidence, that would be something. As long as the Bills make the right decisions this offseason, and remake the entire football structure and get competent personnel and football men in the front office, whether JP "sizzles" or "burns out" has little concern to me. I'd be a little bummed knowing that we screwed it up, but as long as our organization was getting better I'd remember all of those stare downs Losman used to have with his receivers, his poor timing of turnovers, and holding onto the ball for too long. I mean, Steve Young (which Losman ain't) had to leave Tampa and sit behind the legendary Joe Montana before he shined. Good luck to JP. But I wish better luck (and a major house cleaning) for the Bills!
  21. Meh, providing the hopefully vastly remade front office and proven NFL GM want to retain Fewell, then I am onboard.
  22. Similar to your video submission demonstrating how great Losman was for us (in a PREseason game, no less), it does not surprise me to see you post how he has now had his mechanics turned around. Let us also put things into perspective: HE PLAYED IN THE UFL. NOT the NFL. Big difference.
  23. Huh? Where did I state otherwise? Seifert/ Mooch ran the 49ers into the ground. Ofcourse Walsh built the team. just like it was VERMEIL that built the Rams, obtained Warner, and BUILT the 'greatest show on turf'. Martz inherited VERMEIL'S team, and promptly went about destroying it.
