  3. The NFL has asked owners to keep their schedules open next week, when the league holds meetings in Chicago, NFL Network reporter Albert Breer confirmed Tuesday. The owners are scheduled to meet June 21, and the memo from the league asked for flexibility by the owners in case the meeting spills into Tuesday night or Wednesday. That has fueled speculation that perhaps the league and the NFL Players Association are making progress in their negotiations toward an agreement that would end the three-month-old lockout. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82050114/article/sign-of-progress-owners-asked-to-clear-schedules-next-week?module=HP_headlines
  4. Terrelle Pryor’s next set of problems could come from the IRS http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/06/10/terrelle-pryors-next-set-of-problems-could-come-from-the-irs/ Perhaps that’s the best reason for the NCAA potentially revising its rules to reflect reality, and setting up (for example) an Olympics-style system that allows “amateur” players to make money via sponsors or autographs, and that ensures all associated taxes are paid. The current system, in which the NCAA keeps its head in the sand or a far less sanitary personal orifice until someone in the media generates evidence that players are indeed getting paid, easily could result in proof that the players who have gotten paid have failed to pay their fair share to the IRS and/or the state-level taxing authority. comment: i like this idea better than paying the athletes an hourly wage.
  5. no one is forcing these kids to accept a full scholarship worth tens of thousands of dollars. do you think even $50 per hour will stop the Pryor's from autographing items for $1,000/hour. no matter what minimum "fair" pay you come up with, it won't be enough for some......and why should football and basketball players get paid while soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, swimming, track and all other sports get less or nothing at all. the "scholarship" is plenty generous enough. there are lots of professions that won't hire kids straight out of high school...on the otherhand there are leagues that do....just not the NFL.
  6. all in good fun......heck, you may be off by only a day or two....time will tell.
  7. where are the "compliance officers" ??....i mean Pryor is your star player.....he's rolling around town in numerous different cars, buying all kinds of expensive shoes, jewelry, tatoo's etc.. The signings for cash, which would be a violation of NCAA rules, occurred a minimum of 35 to 40 times, netting Pryor anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000 that year, the former friend says. The source spoke to ESPN under the condition that his face not be aired on TV and that his name not be published. The former friend said Pryor would spend his money lavishly at times, that the player had a "shoe fetish" and bought many expensive hats, belts and pieces of jewelry. He said he was particularly fond of Gucci items. ESPN independently confirmed Pryor made multiple such purchases. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6637444 NCAA should hit Ohio State HARD !!!!
  8. The NFL and players resumed what were described as "very serious talks" on Tuesday, according to sources, in an attempt to build off last week's secret negotiations in suburban Chicago, and work toward a resolution to end the three-month-old lockout. The exact location of this set of talks remains unknown, though NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports they are taking place in the New York area. The NFL declined comment on the matter. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d820375bc/article/league-players-meet-voluntarily-for-second-straight-week?module=HP_headlines

  10. the pretty darn close shots show the piping on the pants.....
  11. MINNEAPOLIS -- As the labor battle between NFL owners and players moved from the bargaining table to the courtroom, judges at each stop have urged both sides to reach an agreement before they have to issue significant rulings. The latest nudge in that direction came on Monday from U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson, who scheduled a hearing on the owners' motion to dismiss an antitrust lawsuit from a group of players for Sept. 12. Coincidentally or not, Sept. 12 is four days after the regular season is set to open in Green Bay, and one day after the first Sunday of games for the 2011 season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6632662
  12. meet Judge Nelson: Susan Richard Nelson thought her future was going to be in music. An accomplished cellist, she performed with several orchestras in Buffalo as a young woman. As it turned out, the Amherst native had a different calling...... http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/article444822.ece
  13. the Sabres event actually sounds better.....lol.....Pegula & Black not afraid of lil Bills competition..... for starters, the sabres will have live players.....the bills ?....cardboard cutouts & posters...lol

  15. just got a notice... season ticket holders invited to a " uniform launch event"on Friday June 24th from 6:30pm - 10:30pm at the Ralph. live band, on field access (new turf ?) , jills, ...and of course the new jersey will be on sale. ya have to order complimentary tickets.
  16. Tressel should be hit HARD !!.....like a 10 year ban from the NCAA for coaching. the school should forfeit and vacate all games including bowl money that the players played in. loss of future scholarships. i'm not completely up on USC's (reggie bush)punishment, but this is much more serious. the players should lose their scholarships and be DQ'd for one year.
  17. he will say anything if he thinks it will give him leverage with owners to get a favorable deal.

  19. i have specifically watched every single snap of all his home games. i always isolate and watch the DT's.....as i have previosly reported in other threads....his "technique" at the point of attack is HORRIBLE.....at the snap....for some crazy reason....he bends and lowers his left leg at the knee and turns it in.....putting all his weight and push on his right leg.....as reported in this link, he thens raises his upper body to essentially a 45 degree angle allowing the O-lineman to get underneath him and gain leverage. he got knocked BACK on most running plays and got no push on passing plays.....he was god awful. good for him he is working hard on getting better.....otherwise he will be following Maybin out the door.
  20. you caught her at a bad moment.....she smiles alot..... http://www.google.com/search?q=bill+belichick's+wife&hl=en&biw=995&bih=640&prmd=ivnsuo&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=06_dTefdGc70gAew6rDxCg&sqi=2&ved=0CC4QsAQ
  21. “I’m absolutely sure now after this last rule change that the people making the rules at the NFL are idiots,” James Harrison wrote on Twitter Tuesday night. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/25/james-harrison-the-people-making-the-rules-at-the-nfl-are-idiots/ i have to disagree with James......i think putting a clamp on so called "defenseless" hits, leading with your helmet and hits to opposing players heads are a good thing. players leaving the field via stretcher is a bad thing......these defensive guys can bring a player to the ground WITHOUT those career ending hits. i love those bone jarring hits as much as the next guy....but some player safety needs to trump fan amusement.
  22. Peter King's take: I don't understand Ray Lewis' logic. I respect Ray Lewis, and I also do not travel in his circles. I don't know who has told Lewis the crime rate by the general populace in America is going to go up if there's no pro football this fall, but someone has, and he's buying it. Lewis told Sal Paolantonio of ESPN: "If we don't have a season, watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up,'' he said. When SalPal asked why, Lewis said: "There's nothing else to do.'' It's a nice headline, but I'm not buying it. I suppose it could happen, but unless we get burglars and thieves saying they did it because the NFL wasn't on TV on fall Sundays this year, I'm not buying what Lewis is selling. 23. shirley, you jest..... as your link is just one example, the norm is that most of the NFL athletes (i'll say 80% based on the book Pro's and Con's)are fine upstanding citizens. http://www.isds.duke.edu/~dalene/chance/chanceweb/123.nflviol.pdf
