Jairus Byrd hasn't become Jairus Tyrd yet. he has NOT missed a regular season game with a suspicious injury yet. why is it so hard to fathom a player in Byrd's position, to be overly cautious and NOT play through an injury with a one year deal like he would if he had the security of a long term deal. no player has ever been proved "faking" an injury to miss games. some serious injuries are easy to diagnose, while others are very very difficult. in a separate issue, lots of players fake injuries to stop the clock during a game, then recover in time for the next play. #1- name a player who faked an injury for any reason, that resulted in missing game(s). #2- Plantar fasciitis is a REAL injury. only Jairus knows how painful it is. kind of like a bad back, plantar fasciitis is the perfect injury if you are looking for an excuse not to play, but still get paid. Jairus will get the same benefit of the doubt that all players give to each other regarding injury. #3- name a Franchised tag player (superstar) who got injured after being tagged, but BEFORE signing a long term deal and then did NOT eventually sign a huge contract. assuming a player is 100% healthy after recovering from an injury, he will get his huge payday.

Players cut from other teams that the bills should sign

Tight End Jake Ballard: After a stellar rookie season with the New York Giants in 2011, the massive 25-year-old spent all of last year on New England's injured reserve with a severe knee injury. Although he appeared in three preseason games this year, he was held without a reception. A strong blocker, Ballard was still rounding into shape from his injury, but the Patriots obviously believed they couldn't wait any longer. His departure, along with that of fellow tight end Daniel Fells, leaves the team woefully thin at the position. Star Rob Gronkowski is still recovering from offseason surgeries. The only other two tight ends remaining are undrafted rookie Zach Sudfeld and veteran Michael Hoomanawanui, who has just 25 career catches. Having already invested a year into Ballard, it was a little surprising the team didn't choose to keep him around. He could be missed almost immediately, especially if Gronkowski doesn't come back quickly. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/england-patriots-three-players-team-may-regret-cutting-013900336--nfl.html -
Punter Zoltan Mesko: The fourth-year left-footed punter was cut by New England in a move that was purely financial. He was due to make over $1 million this year while becoming a free agent after the season. Meanwhile, his replacement, undrafted rookie Ryan Allen, will make the league minimum. Allen was a two-time Ray Guy Award winner as the best punter in college football. His big leg (44.9 yards-per-punt career average at Louisiana Tech) should help him replace the 44.2 yards-per-punt average Mesko had during the past three years. However, he's sure to go through the growing pains experienced by all young players, and will be hard-pressed to match his predecessor's talent at directional kicking and dropping punts inside the 20-yard line (71 of his 175 career punts). Off the field, Mesko was a popular figure in the Boston community, as detailed by The Wallstreet Journal's John U. Bacon. He was also heavily involved in charitable work and served as an exemplary representative of the team. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/england-patriots-three-players-team-may-regret-cutting-013900336--nfl.html note: Powell has HORRIBLE HANG TIME

plantar fasciitis http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/plantar-fasciitis-topic-overview How is it treated? No single treatment works best for everyone with plantar fasciitis. But there are many things you can try to help your foot get better: Give your feet a rest. Cut back on activities that make your foot hurt. Try not to walk or run on hard surfaces. Plantar fasciitis most often occurs because of injuries that have happened over time. With treatment, you will have less pain within a few weeks. But it may take time for the pain to go away completely. It may take a few months to a year. here we go....the perfect alibi.....

Tim Tebow clears waivers, NFL future in doubt Tim Tebows NFL career may be over, as every team had a chance to claim him today, and every team passed. Tebow, who was waived by the Patriots on Saturday, officially cleared waivers on Sunday. That means all 31 other teams could have taken his minimum-salary contract but decided he wasnt worth it. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/09/01/tim-tebow-clears-waivers-nfl-future-in-doubt/

Tebow is one of the good guys. it's easy to cheer for him and hope he makes it in this league. all kidding aside, he's probably closer to your take (not good enough) than all the winner hype talk. in the right offense tailored to his strengths, I think he can win, but he probably won't get that chance.
-
are comments like "Thanks for the compliments. Go back to playing with your blow up Tebow doll. Enjoy. " part of your assessment ?
-
and what do you call someone who contributes 15 negative posts to a thread with the name Tebow in it ?
-
The active ingredient in Red Bull is Tim Tebow's sweat. The NFL renamed the 2 minute warning, "Tebow Time" Tim Tebows favorite number is 15 because thats how many players it takes to tackle him. Tim Tebow gets called for roughing the tackler. Tim Tebow doesn't read defenses. He stares them down until they form a path to the end zone.

The Bills have multiple reasons to claim Tebow on waivers His contract is favorable. For 2013, he gets the minimum for a player with three years of experience: $630,000. Next year, he is due to receive the minimum again, at $730,000. Plus a whopping $25,000 workout bonus. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/09/01/the-bills-have-multiple-reasons-to-claim-tebow/ Then theres the fact that the Bills host in seven days the team with which Tebow has spent all of training camp and the preseason. Despite his erratic skills, hes in position to help the Bills prepare for the Pats, on both sides of the ball.
-
Versatility - Tebow is listed at 6'3" and 236 pounds. He has the height of a prototypical quarterback and the bulk of a running back, a combination that very few players at either of those positions have. Keeps opposing defenses off balance- there is an element of suspense whenever he lines up on offense. Is he going to throw? Is he going to run? In 2011, when Tebow started 11 games for the Denver Broncos, he broke 22 tackles, which tied for the highest total among quarterbacks that year with Michael Vick. Only 14 starting running backs had more broken tackles than Tebow that year. He also ran for six touchdowns that year, on only 122 carries. He thrives on short-yardage carries where he can truck through defenders on the way to a first down or touchdown. He doesn't get enough credit for his ability to keep drives alive by avoiding sacks and picking up first downs with his legs. Football IQ - he knows how to win games down the stretch, and his decision to run or pass is more often than not the right one. While he sometimes makes atrocious decisions as to where to pass the ball, passing the ball is often the right decision when he chooses it. You don't make the playoffs with a quarterback that possesses a terrible football IQ. Character- Exhibits rare character on and off the field. He's a fantastic leader of men. He has an outstanding work ethic. Tebow never complains, whether it was the lack of support from the Denver front office, the constant berating from analysts across the country, or the internet commenters who use his religious beliefs as a punch line for a tired joke, he takes it all in stride without so much as a dirty look. Weakness - accuracy

Would the Bills move some wide receivers over to DB?

Players will hate it, but tagging them twice makes good business sense: The average fan scratches his head in amazement when he hears a NFL player complain about a franchise tag, especially when they hear it's worth millions of dollars and guaranteed if the player signs the franchise tender. Look at the contract averages of the highest-paid safeties in the league right now, and appreciate what a bargain safeties really are and why it's good business for the clubs and frustrating for the players. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/17607706/players-will-hate-it-but-tagging-them-twice-makes-good-business-sense

The Bills have a very Inexperienced Roster
papazoid replied to Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
around the league, hundreds of "experienced" players just got cut yesterday. TALENT is more important than experience. -
Flutie was more than decent, going 21-9 over the course of 3 seasons in games he started. ( a higher winning percentage than Jim Kelly)

Tebow is a first-round pick all of three years ago, the second quarterback taken in 2010, after Sam Bradford owner of the same number of playoff wins as Matt Ryan, winner of a postseason game more recently than Peyton Manning and just as recently as Drew Brees. He was the quarterback of record when the Broncos went 7-4, took the AFC West and beat the Steelers in overtime. That happened to also be the only team in his four years since leaving college to design an offense to fit his strengths and minimize his weaknesses, which is all a coach is required to do and all a quarterback could ever ask for. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2013-08-31/tim-tebow-cut-released-by-new-england-patriots-quarterback-roster-cutdown

are there any QB's in the NFL who skipped college ?....pretty sure they all went to college.

how the player feels screwed by the franchise tag: #1- they are denied UFA (unrestricted Free Agency) which is what they covet most. the chance to pick and choose from the highest bidders and best franchises where ENDORSEMENT income potential is higher than buffalo. Byrd is probably saying, why didn't they tag Levitre and let me free. #2- he didn't get the security of a long term deal and all the GUARANTEED money that comes with it. Byrd assumes a lot of risk on a one year deal in violent game with lots of injuries. #3- because Byrd is a safety, his first year tag number is so low that he is a bargain, it's virtually certain he will be tagged a second time and have to go through it all over again in 2014, he is trapped. he has no way out. #4- although the tag compensates handsomely, in Byrd's case of $6.9 mil, he still feels underpaid.

Powell sux. his "hang time" on punts is HORRIBLE.

oh, but it is a huge bargaining chip. for the owners, it is a deal breaker. no way they give the Franchise tag up. for the players, they put up with it because it almost always works out for the players advantage. but to protect themselves, for cases like Byrd they try to make it penal for a team to franchise the same player more than once. 2nd year 120% increase over previous year. 3rd year 144% increase over previous year OR the average of the top 5 highest paid QUARTERBACKS, which ever is more (which a team would never pay for a safety). and Dwayne Bowe eventually signed with his original team KC.
