you will NEVER get players and coaches to "tank". their future livelihoods are at stake, either on current or other team.
now a GM or owner may try to tank....see colts pre Luck.
this isn't an individual sport like golf or bowling.
the quality of the other 10 guys on offense matters to a qb rating. a defense that gives up 38 points isn't going to win very many games.
TT has not "regressed". he is the exact same qb as he was last year when he was ranked 7th in passer rating & total qbr.
what is different is the players NOT around him....last years #1, #2 & #3 WR's, #1 center, #1 RT and at times #1 & #2 RB, #1 TE and just as important his O coordinator ...to some these are facts, to others just excuses.
last year TT was near leading the league in deep throws, mostly to Sammy.
you replace TT with any young QB who has "upside" on this years team....and our record is 2-10 instead of 6-6. if we had a Top 5-10 defense, our record this year is more likely 9-3. I agree with everyone that TT is not going to win us games with his arm, just be careful what you wish for, it so easy to do a lot worse.
by the only measure that matters....playoffs.....we are the worst over the last 18 years with the longest active drought.
Bills(17), Cleveland(14), Detroit (2).
if you are looking towards the future, you could make a reasonable argument that the bills will get to the playoffs before the browns.
I agree with that.
i'm all for upgrading QB....but i'm not getting rid of TT until we are 100% certain that better QB is already on team.
it's a lot easier said than done to find a Top 10 franchise QB.
TT was under pressure 19 of 41 plays (carr 5 of 35)the O-line is not protecting him. and that stat that says he "holds onto the ball longer than any quarterback in the league" is because of his own legs...not the protection.
put TT behind the dallas or Oakland O-line and we are not having this conversation.
from a competition standpoint....it makes no sense to bring in a 3-4 coach to a team that already has a Top 5 defense using 4-3.
the entire roster gets turned over. kyle & dareus are "penetrating" DT in a 4-3. neither is a true NT in a 3-4.
hiring Rex only made sense from a marketing standpoint.
not good enough.
his #1 wr is playing with a broken foot not getting separation. his #1 TE stayed home. the rest of his WR's are #4's & #5's, his RT can't protect him. his defense gave him zero extra possesions.
i'm all for upgrading the QB, but that's easier said than done.
heard a stat yesterday, the steelers are 7-1 when they score 24 points.
tough to win when your defense gives up 38.
