the chances of a rookie CB at #10 becoming an all-pro is about 10% said rookie will still average $4-5 mil/yr over 5 years (assuming 5th yr option) richard is on books for 2 more years at $11mil/yr. there is no question in my mind having a proven 4X first team Pro Bowler is better than rolling the dice with an unproven rookie. having said that, he ain't willingly coming to a non-playoff team.

what's my point ?.....several #1- the shady trade is not a lopsided win for the bills. #2- shady is a superstar. IMO last years best player on team. he is earning his high salary. #3 - I don't like investing franchise tag money for a RB. taking salary cap into consideration for the first 3 years, that trade was shady for kiko AND any $6mil/yr free agent (lets use Richie incognito at $5 mil) which is a better use of salary cap....all your eggs in one basket with a legit $8mil/yr superstar or spread the salary cap and risk of injury over several players ...say kiko, gilislee & Richie combined under $8 mil

#1 - last years team , the RT (mills) was the weakest starter on the team....followed by #2WR & Safety #2- if the season started today, as the team is currently structured.....#1 CB(??) is the weakest starter #3- this team has more "needs" than it can fill with quality....#1CB, #1RT, #2WR & QB of the future(if you don't believe in TT). It just feels to me like Whaley's game plan is to reasonably fill all the needs in free agency....so that he can use #10 on the QB of the future.

likely improvements : #1- offense....just getting healthy should help. #2- defense ....switching to the 4-3 better suits our personnel. #3- discipline.....i expect this new coach to lower the amount of self inflicted penalties #4- ragland, shaq and all the new free agents should offset the FA losses.
