  1. Thank you. This is what I believed to be the case but people keep trying to tell me I need to fight it. It sucks for me but seems to be fair.
  2. I agree with this for the most part but subcontracting out war does have it's perks. -Contractors have the advantage of much looser ROEs. Some operations call for action the public doesn't like and for support purposes it's easier to let contractors take the fall. -Contractors are better equipped to handle certain operations. They spend alot of time training for specific missions and their actual equipment is better for very specific missions. -Contractors can get killed left and right, and it is hardly a blip on the minds of Americans.
  3. If getting rid of dairy queens and burger kings mean getting the grunts and combat personnel supplied better, then who the hell cares. From my experience the individuals who had all day to watch movies and eat whoppers never came close to being in harm's way. My unit went without running water and electricity for 6 months. Getting resupplied with ammo, water, and chow was awfully difficult sometimes. .... pardon me if I don't feel bad for all the POGs who are missing out on chicken nuggets and vanilla shakes. Trust me a Sergeant Major isn't too concerned with that crap either.
  4. That is an alternative option and one of Chef Jim's favorites.
  5. I took the Rochester City Fire Department civil service test in 2006. I scored a 93 and had that score bounced up to a 98 with veterans points. Within a year after the 2006 test I received a letter from the VA saying that they wanted me to come in and test my hearing. The test results showed I had damaged ear drums and that turned into a very small percentage of combat related disability. Which really means I get a very tiny check in the mail each month but more importantly I'm supposed to get an extra 10 points instead of 5 for civil service tests. I contact the city and ask them if I can have my score raised. They don't respond to me, so I try again, and I get a no from one of the civil service employees. So I'm stuck at 98. Fastfoward to 2009, I get contacted by the city in regards to the 2006 test. They want to start processing all the scores in my range. I go through the whole process, background checks, interviews, fingerprints, doctor examination, physical agility test, and more. I pass all of the stages and watch the group get smaller and smaller. I'm told to wait to be contacted about the possibility of getting hired. I got a letter yesterday saying I wasn't chosen and a contact number if I had questions. I call the number and am told I was extremely close and that I missed out because I didn't score a 100 on the original test. I tell her the whole story about getting denied the extra points and she says that decision was the difference between me getting hired and not. Many people have told me to hire an attorney and file a grievance with the city. This is completely not my style but friends and family are all over me about it. This is the career I have always wanted for myself. I became EMT certified just to help boost my stock. This letter really crushed me but the phone call was worse. Anybody have experience with this sort of thing? Or any advice? I plan to continue taking tests and trying but I'm 30 now and I feel like the window is closing. Does this situation merit looking into legally? I'm not considering this out of spite, I can handle being told I need to improve in certain areas. Truthfully, I was told those two points made the difference of being hired or not and I feel I missed out on the extra 5.
  6. Do you understand what "more with less" means? It implies his career surpassed Tebow's despite having less talent on his team. Lefevour had a nice career but he doesn't even approach TT's career, regardless of how you want stack up the talent level. Do you think the MAC is as competitive as the SEC?
  7. It's not hard to give the kid credit, he had a hell of a college career. I was just responding in agreement with the poster who said the senior bowl is useless. I also disagreed with the statement that he did more than Tim Tebow.
  8. Yes, he did well at the all-star game.
  9. The experts know they are going to get a chance to meet and look at future NFL prospects. The scouts would show up if they were all playing dodgeball. Dan Lefevour's 5 of 10 performance in an all-star game is such a small sample of nothing and he was one of the top performers! He must of really blew them away with those 5 completions.
  10. Did you know that 100 percent of pro bowlers played in the pro-bowl? It's another meaningless game that they all attend but you can go scout it if you want. By the way pro-style coaching consists of more than a half dozen plays and players that have never played together. Just like the NFL .
  11. More? Believe me Tebow is not really jealous of Lefevour's piddly MAC records.
  12. Agreed. The Senior Bowl offers little/nothing in player evaluation. It's like the Knicks scouting a Globetrotters game.
  13. Very cool videos, thanks for sharing. Gotta check out the "making of" videos that Dankenstein suggested. ..... and the music was pretty decent too.
  14. I agree with both of these points. The three most ideal players for the Bills are Suh, McCoy, and Okung. Unfortunately all three will be long gone by 9 and a trade up would be costly.
  15. That's funny because just last week he said he was black. Then he went on to say that white people live in fear of black people taking over the country. He made it very clear that blacks are superior in sports, music, and politics. Tonights schtick has more racial undertones but seemingly in the opposite but no less ignorant direction. My friendly advice to posters is to leave this troll alone. He is not going to be around much longer, at least under this current screen name.
  16. Jeff Garcia doesn't have the reputation as a great locker room guy. I think fans (myself included) tend to assume that these older players with plenty of experience, are likely strong additions to the locker room and willing to teach. It's not always the case.
  17. Are you going to let the boys drive the Gran Torino?
  18. It's called a slump buster, you people are so critical.
  19. I hate Sandy and think she is unwatchable. Yes she's nice looking but who gives a crap, nice looking girls are everywhere. It's strange that Hugh Grant is mentioned in the same thread as Sandy because he is the only other actor I consider unwatchable.
  20. A mistake is when you forget to turn the oven on. Cooking a baby in an oven is just a bad decision. Doesn't this guy own a grill?
  21. When are we going to get a video that ends with Pirate chum floating in the water? These teaser stories are agitating.
  22. I agree with the footwork part and I am a real believer in Pacquiao's pressure. For these reasons, I would think Mayweather would have more fight on his hands than he likes. Mayweather doesn't have one punch KO power but when he is forced to mix it up a little, I think he has shown the ability to get the TKO. I'd say he has decent power but great combinations and angles. In his fights that have been decided by TKO, it's always the same story. Floyd is pressured into mixing it up or he feels no threat and goes in for the kill. It's the shot his opponent doesn't see coming that gets them and then comes the flurry. Manny's power is the ultimate equalizer. A fighter like Manny always has a chance and he is going to be handful early. I wouldn't be suprised to see Mayweather lose the first couple of rounds and then settle in. Manny has been prone to knockdowns in his career and he has been knocked out a couple of times as well. Mayweather's not likely to knock him out but a TKO is possible. I think we will have our answer fairly early. Can Mayweather take Manny's punch? If so he stays on his game and beats him with superior boxing. If not, then Manny is going to wear him down and Mayweather's feet are going to slow down.
