Johnny Football vs. Duke (Possible draftees)
filthymcnasty08 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in College Football
Looks like Evans may have cost himself some $ last night…..I would re-think my investment in him seeing how he comes up like that in a big game. -
The Rams are selling out of the 2 hole…my guess is at least one team decides they must have him, pulls a Redskin move and bets the farm to get Manziel #2 before all the other QB-needy teams in the 3 hole and beyond get their crack at him. Can also see him in Raider black and silver in the 5 hole….resurrecting that franchise. He is a unique talent….a winner….loaded to the eyeballs with "it" factor…natural field general….speed demon….and a great arm….I don't think too many people will fault a GM of a franchise in a14 year playoff drought for taking a shot here…especially since our last true franchise QB came from the 1983 draft! Highly doubtful he makes it to us at 9. The good thing is we should have our absolute pick of the litter for non QB talent.

This is a QB controversy that I want for my team. You do not have to break the bank on rookie contracts anymore…and we do not have a franchise guy on our roster. The veteran FA crop is thin in both numbers and talent. This leaves draft, trade and UDFA's. What has EJ Manuel done to convince this team that they no longer have to improve at the position? The answer is very little but enough so that he is the #1 going into camp. He's going to have to win the starting job regardless of who we draft - why not put the best we have out there by upping the competition. Give me a break with this fragile confidence and powder puff coddling - prove it's your job. Highly HIGHLY unlikely we draft JM and more likely do some late round/UDFA dumpster dive for QB gold. The Bills don't do aggressive like back to back #1's - we stay the course and try really hard for too long to mask our QB failures….hence our playoff record. My guess is he's not there when we pick.
-
You can see him play tonight: Chik-fil-A bowl 8PM……against Duke (lol)……he should light it up hard.
-
My feelings on the matter aside, X's and O's aside, and back to the business end of this: Would he sell seats? Would the league and the networks be compelled to show more Bills games to a wider audience? Would he sell merch? Would he be a marketable personna for the team? the league? Would the franchise become more valuable as a result? Finally, does the Bill's FO have an appreciation/affinity for the marketing side of the business? There are a lot of ways the #9 pick can go (seems like were at this juncture every draft), but drafting Johnny Football will 100% be one option laid on the table in the war room and upstairs.

Aaron Williams message to Byrd
filthymcnasty08 replied to qblax16's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we lose Byrd, do next to nothing in FA and proceed to enter 2014 opening day 20+Million under cap……sell/move the team guys (ownership/mgmt), you will lose hearts and minds for good. Unless Byrd is just done and will not sign here, every effort should be made to keep him. I just have a feeling that we are going to hear the rhetoric from Russ….."We made what we felt like was a good offer…..shucks…..we really wanted Jairus to be a Bill for life……" Then some cost-efficient sleight of hand……Look kids! Michael Vick!……ooooooooooohhhh! Get yer tix now! Told ya we're committed. -
My wish list feel free to add
filthymcnasty08 replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watch a lot of GMen football….everyone is now ready to see him leave town. Once the team paid Cruz, it was clear to him (and his agent) that there were not going to be 2 WR's earning top echelon $…..so - he mailed it in this year and protected his body. Would not go up and fight hard for balls, missed OTA's, locker room cancer, etc. He's born and bred North Carolina…college at UNC...we'll see what the Panthers do but my guess is that's where he goes. If he wants to stay in NY and the Giants don't pay, I can see him in Jet green as well. They will pay for him. He is not a fit for WNY after playing and winning a SB in the big apple - especially if we have an unproven QB slinging it to him. -
That hurt a little to see it laid out like that.

Can Thad Lewis be our Russell Wilson?

BEST QUOTE EVER -
People forget that the plan this year was to start a veteran and bring EJ along. Too bad we picked the veteran with a glass vag. I still think we need a veteran QB that has started and succeeded elsewhere and would be a solid starter if needed (Schaub).

We're on the same page....from a PURE marketing perspective, is it not a Win/Win/Win/Win for Jerruh/Johnny Football/NFL/ESPN to have Johnny Football become a Dallas Cowboy? Before his first pro snap, he will be an endorsement king. The NFL will be nauseatingly all-over it, as will ESPN. The fans will have no choice but to be recharged. No matter what my personal feelings are on Dallas, it's almost like it was meant to be. If he is at least respectable in the combine then smokes his pro day....he should go towards the top/middle 1st round.

Their trading up for Johnny Football has a very real element because they do not have TR's replacement on that team and he's a fit for that franchise in so many ways. Simple-minded fan misperception? So QBR is the only stat on a QB that matters and not how he performs at the most crucial times in the game/season? I think there are a lot of people that would disagree with you. Their Defense is most definitely going to see a lot of change probably starting with the coordinator……their D has been sh-t all season. What has happened for 10 years+ now is their Franchise QB teasing them up only to let them down HARD at the end of the season with big time choking. He has played with good defenses, playoff caliber defenses and lousy ones. His QBR is fantastic…..but he SUCKS in the clutch at the end of every season. I don't think it's a simple minded viewpoint at all if you're a fan of that franchise to blame Romo. Lot of data to support it.

Why is Graham used more than Goodwin?
filthymcnasty08 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They're showcasing him for their big trade with Seattle….who now laments having to pick Russell Wilson after we smartly traded up for TJ. -
Not sure it's such a laugher when they blow a lead like that at home to a QB that's been on 4 teams this year…capping it with 2 4th q picks….yielding yet another Romo December collapse …..but I get the $ point you make, forgot about the monster contract. Still, that is one owner that will not sit still if the fans stop supporting the product. They're tired of it….and I love watching it. By the way, no need to be a ___ about it, was a hypothetical. (We do root for a team that also signed a QB to a long term deal and chose to eat a huge part of it…..because change was necessary.)
-
I think it's times up for him in the big D. I can see the Cowboys and that nasty old megalomaniac going all-in on a trade-up for Johnny Football. Would be a tremendous fit…..IF JF can play pro ball. Where do "y'all" think Romo goes? Texans, to me, puts them right back in contention - and add Jadevon Clowney to boot!

Offense is better when we open things up
filthymcnasty08 replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was trying so hard to aim/place the ball in the first Q. Was so painful to watch……when he was in the zone…..his feet, the delivery and the ball flight looked so much smoother. -
Still would take Romo on this team in a heartbeat. Good for Flynn…keeping the Pack healthy for Rodgers.
