  1. I've wondered the same thing. The only thing I can think of is that Hamilton does not want to drag out to Pittsford to cover training camp and that he'll resume being the Bills beat reporter once the team breaks camp. Joe Buscaglia is coming along, but he's not nearly as polished (or as entertaining) as Hamilton.
  2. I just call them the Foreskins. I don't think that's offensive to anyone.
  3. It depends on how much bran he eats in the 5th year. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  4. I think Russ Brandon would like to see the Bills beat the Redskins so that he can sell more tickets. I don't think that Buddy Nix cares that much as long as the team plays well. Remember, Russ went out to interview Shanahan before he hired Nix as GM. I think that Nix is probably happy that Shanahan didn't come because Nix doesn't have to worry about working with such a big ego. Besides, if Shanahan were hired there's a good chance that Nix wouldn't have become the GM.
  5. It's still just training camp. There were a lot of guys that were on the "All Fredonia Team" who didn't cut it once the season started. However, it is encouraging that Ellis is showing signs of being a productive player. Now, about that Maybin guy ....
  6. I agree. I think that Chan Gailey thinks that he has the most to work with in Edwards and if Brohm comes on and challenges him, so much the better. I don't think Fitz has anything more to show than he already has. He's a backup, not a starter. Not to say that Edwards or Brohm may not also be, but they still have upside (or at least unexplored potential). It would be nice if either Edwards or Brohm won the job by being a quality quarterback as opposed to being the least crappy of the three. (Brown is a project and will probably be on the practice squad.)
  7. It's articles like this that make me wish Felser was still writing full time for the News.
  8. Because that's no fun, would take patience and a little thought. This board is all about jumping to conclusions regardless of facts or information.
  9. If that's the case, it's still good for the Bills. I lived in Baltimore when the Colts left and was a huge blow to the city and all of their fans. Any fan of that team who watched them move away is going to realize how devastating it is to a city and the fans.
  10. This team has a lot of holes to fill and you don't do that by trading up and giving up draft picks. You can trade down and accumulate some, but that requires having another team willing to trade up. Being active during the draft doesn't directly correlate to being smart. The Bills have traded up in the past to draft John McCargo, Justin Bannan, Trent Edwards, J.P. Losman, and others who have not had very good careers. They also gave up two first rounders to get Drew Bledsoe. None of these worked out all that well and were not worth the price the Bills paid. If you draft quality players your team gets better. It's too early to tell how this draft is going to turn out or how good Buddy Nix is going to be as a GM. He and Chan Gailey seem to have a plan and they are picking best available players and appear to be getting quality players in position of need. You cannot rebuild a team in one draft. The draft isn't over and there will still be FA's out there that the Bills will pick up. Probably at least one trade to be made as well. Sit back and take it all in. There's always plenty of time to complain later.
  11. I sure hope you're right. Nothing against Spiller, but we have much greater needs elsewhere.
  12. Same here. Glad Opening Day is against a division rival and not an NFC team. Can't believe the Foreskins have 3 nationally televised games, even with McNabb.
  13. I don't think comparing him to Byron Leftwich is a selling point.
  14. I saw this quote from an article by Mark Gaughan in the News this morning: Loyalty is one of Marv Levy's strong traits. Here was Levy this week speaking about the Bills on Sirus XM Radio: "Personally, I was a little bit surprised and unhappy that they let Dick Jauron go. You can't just keep shaking it up, shaking it up, shaking it up. He's a good coach. He taught well. He related well with the players. Yes, he'd gone through several 7-9 seasons but I think if they would have stuck with him that was their best chance to really get the ball rolling." I loved Marv as a head coach, as a GM not so much. I understand that he really liked Jauron and is loyal to him (he also has a personal stake as he was the one who hired him), but to say that Jauron was the Bills best chance to succeed is just too much.
  15. Thanks I'll give them a listen. I've been tired of Schopp and the Bulldog for a while now. Schopp is constantly condescending to folks that call the show and seems to enjoy being an a$$. Bulldog's not as offensive as Schopp, but they both ridiculously criticized the Bills when the beat the Dolphins for "running up the score." I can also do without all of the actor draft and other crap they put on (that is not sports) to fill time.
  16. Naw John, we like you. You post here and you gave us that awesome scoop about the Bills hiring __________________ as the new head coach. I do take issue with so called media sites like PFT just regurgitating speculation like it's fact. Florio had a post about a "source" who went off about how the Bills hiring of Buddy Nix was a slap in the face of all of the hard working GM candidates in the NFL. I personally think his "source" was another reporter who just wanted to vent without it coming back to him.
  17. I watch sports as a diversion (or escape) from all of the political, religious, cultural, economic strife in the world. I don't need a commercial popping up during my escapism to drag me back into the real world. That being said, I ignore most of the commercials on tv, so it's no biggy for me. I do agree with the one poster on his agent stepping in, but he's a grown man.
  18. Agreed. It would be nice if there was a succession plan, but Ralph owes the fans nothing. He brought the team here and kept the here longer than a lot of other owners would have.
  19. Orakpo made the switch fine and had a pretty good year. It's not an impossible task by any stretch of the imagination.
  20. Don't think there is a big trade market for a gun-shy, oft injured quarterback who's favorite pass is the two yard checkdown to the running back. TE was not put in a position to thrive, that's for sure. But Fitzpatrick showed that a quarterback could make some plays behind that line, too bad he's not a very accurate passer.
  21. I think one of things that gets overlooked is the chemistry between the GM and HC. We hear it a lot when talking about the team itself, but you have to have a GM and HC who have the same idea of what to put on the field. There is also a lot we don't know (I know it's hard to believe) about what goes on over at OBD. They may have plenty of info about the personalities of the various HC candidates and may not have interviewed them simply because they knew they wouldn't fit in with what Ralph wants or what Buddy Nix wants. The GM, HC and owner have to be able to get along. Donohoe and Cowher had a dustup, Donohoe got fired. A.J. Smith and Marty S. had a dustup, Marty got fired. Why bother looking at someone if you don't think you can work with him in the first place?
  22. No, no, no no no. You have it all wrong. This is not a site for intelligent analysis and possible optimism. This is a site for knee jerk reactions and pure vitriol. Geez.
