Who Would Make the Biggest Impact for the Bills
BillsFan74 replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills need some impact players on D. So here is a possible scenario that could land some value picks. 1. OLB Curry (most likely gone), Maybin (OLB also provides scheme flexibility), Cushing (pure 4-3 OLB). 2. DE Ayers from Tenn, some of the scouts feel he could be a steal there has size to play year 1. Or Johnson could slip this far. 3. C Eric Wood, John Luigs, AQ Shipley, and Antione Caldwell could all be there in the third unless there is a run on centers. While all graded below Mack still could be a long term very good player for years to come. 4. TE the best will be gone but James Casey and Cornelius Ingram are good pass catchers that could be there in the fourth. A better scenario for the Bills would be to get an additional day 1 pick if they are looking to address all these needs at the draft. -
What If, Just What If The Bills Signed..............

That would be great if it happened, but I'm not banking on it. -
for those who wanted Chris Canty...

Scratch him off the list. -
I forsee major problems this year.....

I hope it's doom and gloom but at times they look like the keystone cops over the last 10 years. It's hard to be upbeat with all of the front office spnning. In my opinion the hard truth for the Bills is they are not strong enough upfront to beat good teams. Is that doom & Gloom or reality? -
There are a few interesting names on this list and they need some help at this position. Some of the tier 2 guys could contribute at a reasonable price.
-
I don't disagree with anything you are saying and try not to oversell prospects which is what all these guys are...just maybe's. I believe you have done your homework and we can all agree a center is a position in need of upgrade. But I look for value picks in the draft and feel the Bills are much better taking another player in Rd 1....not Mack as good as he may become in the future.

How many QB's in Bills history would you want...

One Jim Kelly. -
Here is one scouting report; Pros: Antoine Caldwell #59 – Offensive Center –When Caldwell was a freshman, Alabama was struggling with injuries at the center position. Caldwell was placed in at center during the Cotton Bowl, and has kept the job ever since. The next season, Caldwell was voted offensive captain as a sophomore, so he’s developed a leadership quality from an early stage of his career. Caldwell is a tremendous chip blocker who can block a defensive lineman and quickly move to the second tier of the defense to hit a linebacker or safety. Caldwell has excellent footwork during pass blocking and can maintain his blocks very well. Caldwell maintains a low center of gravity which is excellent when he moves to the NFL level. Cons: Antoine Caldwell has very little weaknesses, although he's listed as 305 pounds; but his playing weight is more like 295 pounds. Can Caldwell handle a bull rush from a large NFL defensive tackle? I think he can, based on his good technique and center of gravity. Overall: Antoine Calwell should be taken in the second round. He won't be available in the third round. So I don't know how is right, but based on what I saw of him at the senior bowl he may be a value pick in the third round. So would Lugis or Eric Wood. I feel strongly that Mack is a reach at 11.

At 33 how much gas is left in the tank? If he is a year or two stop gap maybe, but he would have to come cheap.

Anything can happen but if they do not upgrade the defense and O-line it will be a long season. Our Defense is too soft for the upcoming schedule. -
I agree that every scout grades these guys differently and depending on the "guru" and the day it seems like you get a different answer. But based on everything I have seen and read about the Centers this year I think Antoine Caldwell may be the best fit. That is based on style of play and where he may fall in the draft, most project 3rd or 4th round. I think that would be a good value for that player and position allowing the Bills to use their first 2 picks on defense and a TE.

If Mack Is Going To Be Such A Dominating Center
BillsFan74 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mack is not a good fit for our offense. He is not a player worthy of the number 11 pick and may not come off the board until late second round. -
Mack at 11 is insane, he is simply not worth a first round pick. Furthermore the senior bowl proved he has a problem anchoring against bigger DT's and is better suited in a zone blocking scheme. How would that player help this team? The Bills need an upgrade at center and that should be addressed in the draft in the second or third round.

What Teams Would Make a Run at LT................
BillsFan74 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe the Pats, But I think he will take the pay cut to stay in SD. -
Name one position you feel we are the weakest at and why...
BillsFan74 replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
DE then center. -
Don't forget about Ayers from Tennessse. He should be there in the second rd if the Bills wanted BPA in the first.
-
The Bar bill and Charlie the Butcher are excellent. Anchor bar is not bad either.
-
It usually takes 2 to 3 years to develop a WR at the pro level, so I am not worried. Remember Eric Moulds was struggling his first few years.
-
I hope he makes it. He is much better than Chris Carter especially if you factor in his playoff stats. Eight all time in yards should get you in. He has more yeards than Largent, Monk, and Irvin who are all in. Only time will tell.

What about this Peters option
BillsFan74 replied to BuffaloBlood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand his point. Peters seems to care more about his contract than the team, which could be a big problem. He outplayed the deal for one year and now wants top LT money after the Bills took a chance on him. There is no easy answer to the Peters problem. Gross is a good LT problem is I don't see Carolina letting him go. They have started discussions for a long term deal. I'm sure the sage will continue until he gets a new deal. -
Go Ralphie, Bruce, and Andre!

Kelsey will make the pro bowl this year

Don't worry, Brylin is still accepting patients. -
He might be the only player on the roster that truly deserved to go to the Pro Bowl.
