  1. I'm really intrigued by this mountain of a man. If he pans out, our defense will be TOPS. ANYWAY, I found this posted on Buffalorumblings from a person who supposedly has a son & nephew that know Jasper personally. Listen to his description of Jasper: "Great guy, tireless worker, listens and uses all the instructions from some former NFL players. Plays hurt, plays to the whistle, doesn't tire (that big who would have thought he might not need a play or two off) and pushes his teammates on the field and in the weight room." I'm giddy right now. This is just what we need!
  2. I'm not a football coaching expert; I'm surely not a positional expert. However, I would have to think that being so much bigger than your competition IN SOME CASES can even outweigh lack of skill. This is not to say that a 400LB fatty could go up against the likes of Vince Wilfork or Chris Jenkins, but this guy isn't a 400LB fatty. Clearly he demonstrated in his workout video that he's athletic, quick on the feet and insanely strong. Dropping ~65 lbs in 6 months proves he's motivated and wants to succeed in the NFL. Getting drafted was the first step. As long as he plays with a mean streak and is willing to be coached, I could see him making the team as a backup. He may be raw at the beginning, but he could make up for his lack of skill with superior size and strength. After a season or two his skills would likely be refined enough that combined with his immense size, he could become a starter rather than a situational player. MY QUESTION TO YOU- Do you believe that in the NFL sometimes size and strength can outweigh a players "rawness" / lack of skill
  3. It's a horrible thought but I know what you mean. I think there is a plan in the works though.
  4. It's a good thing. The Bills and Bangles had a leg up on the rest of the league by participating in the Senior Bowl. This comes in handy in the later rounds where the stratification between players' talent is harder to decipher. Having the opportunity to work with some of these guys, getting to know them personally (from a coaches viewpoint) for am ENTIRE week can make all the difference in the world! Long Rule CHIX!
  5. Good Article from SI's Don Banks: Said some nice things about Buffalo. I also agree with his comments about Detroit. That D line is going to be Nasty! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/don_banks/04/30/nfl.draft.saturday/index.html
  6. Could, but I don't think we will. There's a greater possibility of us selecting Kaepernick, Mallet or Rudolph. Your scenario would be interesting though
  7. Man, even the little things bring me great relief! First, they draft one of the actual top five players in this years Draft, THEN they have the nerve to wait for a few minutes to perhaps evaluate possible trade down scenarios. It's like this is a new team or something.... I'm soo excited for the season!
  8. Another Question since I couldn't see the Draft..... Did he Bills rush up to the Mic in 30 seconds or did they at least wait a few minutes before making their selection
  9. 1. There is not much to say about Dareus. I will eat my own ca ca if he ends up being anything less than GREAT! Going into tonight, I was worried that Chix would get cute with the #3 pick, but I think this is proof positive that they are headed in the right direction. They realized that our biggest softs-spot was our weakness against the rush. So what did they do... They went ahead and and picked the BEST player in the draft to address this issue. MARCELL DAREUS, Welcome to B-lo 2. The Dareus pick is proof that RW is not in control of the Draftroom. I'm sure if he had his way, we'd be warming up to Gabbert right now. 3. Round 2, Buffalo goes for Kaepernick.... Not because Ralph wants a QB, but because Chix feels that he can become a baller in a few years with some tutelage from Fitzy. 4. I'm in Brazil and can't watch the draft. Supposedly ESPN was going to be filing inside the Bills War Room. Sounds interesting. Anyone care to comment on what they've shown so far? GO BILLS! ! ! ! ! <edited>
  10. Thanks NGU! Do you think Newton should really be that high up on the Bills board? I mean seriously, the bust potential is large. I'm surprised that some of the other highly touted D line men aren't in their top choices.
  11. Interesting though, I suppose anything is possible; but I think no. I really think they are happy with Bell, at least for the time being. The Bills are 2 drafts away from seriously competing. They need LBs, a long term answer at QB, A beefed up D/Line (even if Troupe and Carrington do well this year, we still need depth) and yes, prob even some help at DB since McGee is getting up there. I say they go with Bell for one more year to see if he can really play or not. If they draft a premier LT it will be next year after they have a chance to evaluate Bell. If Bell is a baller, then GREAT, if not, he's certainly a possibility at RT or for OT depth. Also, the Bills pick at 10. For your scenario to work, they would have to trade down....
  12. Awesome you get a gold sticker for today
  13. Personally, I would LOATH to see Favre in the new Bills Uni. Nevermind the fact that he's a scumbag (because there are a lot of players in the NFL who are); nevermind the fact that he's past is prime and proved beyond doubt that he can't be a starter any longer in NFL; do you really think's he'll accept a Tutor/Backup role to Cam should we end up drafting him. Think about this. We enter the season with Fitz as our number one and Cam the number two man. Is it really worth holding a roster spot for Favre to effectively be a 3rd string QB/Locke room distraction? Chan has proven in the past that he can work wonders with below average QB's. Cam has immense physical gifts that Gailey should be able to work with. What then, can All-About-Me Favre teach Cam Newton? How not to be a team player? Cam already has a questionable past! No thank you. We don't need Favre.
  14. By no means am I a QB evaluating guru, but seriously- all this talk about Luck is really getting to me. I can see if he declared this year why people would be so hot to get him.... But he didn't. For all we know he could end up having a year like Locker did.
  15. I think you misunderestimate the powerhouse-to-be that is the Aaronator
  16. All you people, clamoring for Hawk just because he's a known name...... I got a name for you... A name the league won't soon forget. Aaron Maybin
  17. I have a friend who works for the Bills and she said that his name came up a few weeks back. Apparently the OBD anticipated this move by Gang Green.... They must see SOMETHING in him..... Is there a Wanny connection?
  18. Wasn't Leodis supposed to be a lock down corner, special teams ace bla bla bla. No thanks. Good teams build from their lines first. If our front 7 was better, we'd be the number 1 pass defense team...
  19. Is it possible that we could grab this guy in the 3rd, would that be smart? Sounds like he could really be a good QB, especially if we brought him along slowly. No sense rushing him as long as Fitzy plays well.
  20. So, have any of the folks at OBD ever mentioned him EVER?
  21. Number one, I don't like mock drafts. I think they are a waste of time and certainly all bets are off once that first trade down happens. However, in an effort to get my football fill, I've read a number of the mock drafts posted on TSW. It seems that with the consensus top QB's people either think they will be our savior, or the next Jamarcus Russell. I've also noticed that people who like the top guys think that our beloved team would be better served going with another need at the #3 pack. Having said all that, it seems that Ricky Stanzi is a guy who most people seem to think can be a good QB for us. The consensus seems to be (even among those of you who have preference for taking Cam, Gabbert, Kloper-blabla) that Stanzi is a very solid pick. So, since I really don't follow College Football, I'm hoping that you can answer my questions: 1. Is Ricky Stanzi the real deal? I've heard him compared to he who's name we won't speak. It rhymes with Dom Grady. 2. Has OBD ever mentioned this guy? Are we scheduled to meet with him during the Combine? 3. What are the chances that we go for this guy? 4. Is it just me, or does the name Ricky Stanzi have moxie?
  22. Man I hope not. Ralph needs to keep his mouth shut and his ass out of the war room!
  23. Keep Donte, sign Sanders for a reasonable amount (if possible). This way, we improve our depth and add a good playmaker in Sanders-- provided he's on the field
