If the down boy is a dog reference, it is a collie, not colie. Considering Buddy Nix has had only two drafts, I don't see how relevant your point is with regard to 4th round picks who have historically performed poorly. Last years 4th was Marcus Easley, who has shown potential and this year he selected Searcy and Hairston, neither have looked bad and could be important parts of the team in the near future.
I just don't value Lee Evans as much as you do. I think Gailey wants his players to do things his way and he may have used Evans as an example of what happens if you don't block downfield or run underneath routes. I think with our line in it's current shape wouldn't provide Fitzpatrick the time for deep patterns to develop, which Lee excelled at. For this offense, I can see how Donald Jones, who is a bigger body and aggressive blocker, would be a better fit.
