Bills In Toronto Tickets reduced 17%
DasNootz replied to joe w bags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As luck would have it, the Canadian dollar is trading at 17% less than it was 12 months ago too. -
Why can't we draft like it was 1985 anymore?
DasNootz replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In recent memory I'd have to say that the 96 Ravens and 95 Bucs did pretty well. 96 Ravens took Ogden in Rd 1 and Ray Lewis in Rd 2. The Ravens seem to always draft well. 95 Bucs took Sapp in Rd 1 and traded up to take Brooks in the first two. -
I'm not interested in helping them get a QB... and I want to avoid Cushing like the plague.

Lets not forget that the Bills had 16 picks that season. They had two 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks, two 3rd round picks, and two 4th round picks. 1985 Rnd Name College Note 1 Bruce Smith Virginia Tech 1 Derrick Burroughs Memphis State 2 Mark Traynowicz Nebraska 2 Chris Burkett Jackson State 3 Frank Reich Maryland 3 Hal Garner Utah State 4 Andre Reed Kutztown (PA) 4 Dale Hellestrae Southern Methodist 5 Jimmy Teal Texas A&M 6 Mike Hamby Utah State 7 Ron Pitts UCLA 8 Jacque Robinson Washington 9 Glenn Jones Norfolk State 10 Chris Babyar Illinois 11 James Seawright South Carolina 12 Paul Woodside West Virginia -
All the moaning about lack of TE's...
DasNootz replied to PJBrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In 2006 he played in 16 games, with 4 starts and only one reception for 1 yard. Obviously there's no telling what might have been... but I think there was every indication that his pass catching abilities were not likely to be showcased. That's not even Robert Royal production. -
Most hated is reserved for Mike Williams.

How's Eric Crouch doing these days? -
For what it's worth, I flew from LAX to Atlanta last week, and Takeo Spikes sat behind me. He was friendly, but he didn't offer any draft insight. My wife thought his shirt looked "bedazzled".

Let's not forget that 23 teams passed on him before he was selected, including the Seattle Seahawks who drafted Dan McGwire (Mark's Brother) 8 picks earlier... and he only started 5 games as a pro. The Raiders thought they were drafting Ivan Drago, believing that the boy was bred to be an NFL QB. He had shown to be immature in college with a coccaine bust, spats with his coach, skipping classes etc. In reality, he wasn't even the biggest bust of his draft. Bruce Pickens CB, drafted #3 only had 9 career starts, 2 interceptions and was out of the league in 4 years. Then there was Huey Richardson, LB, selected 15th by the Steelers... never recording an NFL start and out of the league in 3 years. Stan Thomas, Tackle at 22 by the Bears, recording seven starts in four years.

Mike Mayock's Mock Draft Picks 1-10

Orakpo: The Best at his position + Our biggest need = No Brainer. For some reason I don't think we're going to be left with choices like this though. -

Every indication is that given the oppurtunity, he will be a solid NFL WR. One stat from last year that I really liked of his: Of his 10 catches 9 were for first downs or TDs. That percentage led the league last year for recievers with more than 4 receptions. Granted that it's a very small sample size, but with average only 10 yards per reception and haveing 90% go for first downs, it tells me he has the ability to know where he is on the field and get the first down. I get so sick of seeing recievers catch the ball one yard short.

Rumor: Cushing and Matthews test positive for steroids?
DasNootz replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to point out that I called this on Cushing months ago and made posts in February and March saying the same. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?s=&am...t&p=1323637 http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?s=&am...t&p=1349193 His before and after photos after he started lifting again after shoulder surgery are staggering. -

Could somebody have just gone to an NFL website and customized a jersey to say OWENS in the name with an 81 number... then used that photo as the basis for this hoax?... I bet I could come up with something comparable in less than 15 minutes Why would the Bills put out this photo, while still trying to sell Owens #1 jersey's on their website. If the Bills are smart, they'd encourage Hardy not to swap numbers, so that people go out and buy new jersies rather than putting Duct® tape over their old ones... ala (Rob Johnson->Bledsoe->Parrish).

Can we start calling Cushing "the Boz" yet? -
Here is my biggest 'fear' when it comes to T.O.
DasNootz replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No matter what kind of numbers TO puts up, he needs to be gone in 2010. If he puts up 1,500 yards this year... good for him and I hope he gets paid by someone else. Trent will then have enough confidence to know that he's capable of being a winner in this league and we should go after a more team-friendly long term solution if Hardy and/or Jackson hasn't proven worthy of a number 2 spot. -
I don't think he can personally hurt our team's future any more than an 3-13 season would... being that it's only a one year contract. The key to me is letting him go next season, realizing that we had TO on his best behavior for one season. Expecting anything more is just getting greedy, and it hasn't paid off for any team. Hopefully he'll be able to mentor Hardy for one season with special emphasis on route running and training for the season.
-
I'll preface this by saying that I cannot stand TO on a personal level. That said, I think this is a very good deal for Buffalo. 1) Even at his diminished level, his skills for 6.5 million is a bargain. 2) This provides us with a legitimate guage to judge is Trent Edwards is capable of being our future. 3) It's a one year deal... You don't marry the stripper (even though he'll be capable of showing us love for one season) 4) It makes Buffalo relevant again. When was the last time you can think of the national media talking about us? This will help with future FA signings. 5) It addresses a significant need, and allows us to draft a DE in the first round.

Patriot Fan Sues The Bills and two security firms
DasNootz replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why sue the Bills? If I'm not mistaken, they don't own the parking lots... 20 minutes seems like an awful long time to get beat by a mob without having to leave in an ambulance. -
Florida Boat Accident Survivor: 2 NFL Players Gave Up Hope
DasNootz replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he meant that the hatch would open from the bottom of the boat... so that when it capsized it would now be above water. It really doesn't seem like that crazy of an idea. Another option would be an inflatable raft. Build a system into a boat that when sensors realize that the boat is upside down, triggers release an inflatable raft. -
