Your best bet, both price-wise and in consideration of line-of-sight, is to try to find something in the first 8-10 rows of the upper deck. You can probably forget about finding anything between the 30's, since those are most likely all season tickets. However, if you scored something on the 15-20 yard line, that would still be pretty solid.

I want one clear answer on Friday

So basically not only the same as it's been, but the same as every other HC/GM relationship in the NFL. The GM is responsible for acquiring talent, and the coach can cut players that he wants to cut. Earth-shattering news. -
Thanks guys. I hope that post didn't come out like a LAMP...I mean, it's been nearly 4 years, so as a family we're about as "over it" as we're going to get. That is to say that you really don't ever get over it, but you definitely get used to the reality. Right now, my heart goes out to Boomer and his family.

My dad went through a similar situation when my mom--his wife of 40 years--passed suddenly in an accident at their home. It's brutal. I hope he's close with his kids, since we were probably the single biggest influence on his attitude toward the whole thing.

Russ Brandon - keep him or fire him?
thebandit27 replied to Spurna's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would you suspect any different? Furthermore, for those with concerns, what were Whaley and Rex Ryan unable to do because of Brandon's influence? -
Eventually yes, but not anytime soon. My guess is that they'll Transition Tag him next year for the $20M or so it takes to do that, and that he'll sign because that's incredible money for a clipboard holder. That basically buys them two full years before they have to make a decision, at which time Brady will be 41 years old (and would be 42 heading into the 2019 season).

So I take it that you're appending your original statement from "there is no power structure" to "I don't know the power structure", and that's what's upsetting you?
-
Yes there is; that you don't like it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist

Yeezus is back! And in mid season form! You just know he had this all typed up and ready to hit publish regardless of who was hired Well done Yeezer!

Solomon Wilcotts and the Buffalo Beels

I actually really liked Solomon Thomas...I mean, he's not Charles Davis, but he was still good IMO -
Of course that's all true...my point is that the scouting community is rich with talented people that can make evaluations--and the likelihood that the guys they're bringing on won't have, in the very least, a rudimentary set of player evaluations in the fold already is very low. As I understand it, the information that's exchanged at this point in the offseason from scouts to FO staff is more of the general nature regarding the kid's ability to play the game, and less about scheme fit etc. Will a later start put the team at a relative disadvantage? Probably. Is it anything that will adversely affect their ability to draft the right guys come next April? Highly unlikely IMO.
-
jw brings up an interesting point, but it's not a huge concern IMO There are so many scouts fighting for jobs with NFL teams that they'll have plenty of talent from which to choose.

Did I seriously see a mention of Mallo Cups? Those things are awful

RB Ben Tate would be a good replacement for Gillislee.
thebandit27 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I maintain that my sleeper pickup for the Gillislee role would be Jordan Todman -
They have them at Wegmans, Premier Gourmet, and several other stores in the US

So you think that McDermott sat back and did zero evaluation of QBs during the process? Or is it that you believe that McDermott wanted one of the QBs but wasn't allowed to pull the trigger? I guess my real question is why you believe that not taking a QB and the previous scouting staff assembling the draft board are related?
-
I'm as adamant as anyone about the drafting of a QB in round 1 if you believe he can be the guy. However, if you don't, then there's no point in simply taking a guy in round 1 for the sake of adding to the position. Now, I don't agree that none of the QBs in that most recent draft could be franchise guys, but if that's the team's feeling, then I absolutely agree that there's no point in taking a guy early, and that it makes more sense to do what they did and try to grab a potential backup late.
-
Either that, or scouts get it wrong on occasion. I'm 100% sure that the scouts that you know get it wrong sometimes too. Someone else (this guy) said that after his senior season
-
I know scouts that thought that Dak Prescott didn't belong on an NFL practice squad.
-
That and Zay's productivity was off the charts as a senior. I definitely think he's got the possession dynamic, but I also believe that there's huge redzone upside there as well. His timed speed doesn't flash on tape, but I don't know that his offense didn't hold him back in that regard at ECU. That and productivity...Jones was an absolute monster as a senior.

Gary Barnidge visited the Bills May 3rd
thebandit27 replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nope...they can't gain any cap space until after June 1st 2018, at which time he'd have a dead cap hit of $4.5M. -
A total of 3 WRs went between picks 10 and 62. Clearly the team felt strongly enough about Jones over Samuel and JuJu that they made a move. You can get upset about giving up picks as a principle, but to do it in the name of getting players simply based on your perception of what they guy can do (I wouldn't call anyone with 4.45 speed, a sub-7.0 3-cone, and 4.0 flat in the 20s that scored 23 TDs in college as a "possession WR") is folly. Evaluate the trade based on draft pick value? Sure. Evaluate it based on player value? Unbelievably early for that.

I love that acquiring another first round pick next year qualifies as throwing away picks!
