A few thought about the Jets game. In no particular order
thebandit27 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He doesn't have the best hands or RAC ability, but Clay has one thing that this team needs badly: he gets open; really open. Tyrod needs that. -

Not intentional; Bowles is the worst clock manager in the NFL. Hence why he punts down 9 and then calls 3 timeouts on the ensuing drive -
IMO that's a lazy comparison

As I said in the 2018 draft thread: Mayfield is my QB1 for now, and his first big test comes against Ohio State. He passed. Now I need to see if he can keep up the quick release and downfield vision. Right now, he stays my QB1.

I'm not involved in it, but here's what I know... Always ask one question: what do I get paid for? The answer should always be "product sales". If it's anything else, then it could be a scam. If, however, payment is based all (or primarily) on sales, then don't get scared off based on the idea that recruiting and structure are included in the program. Every business in the world uses both recruitment and a structure.

Correct. Also, McCourty never got to the field numbers on his drop--that's a hallmark of safety play in C-2. Get to your mark and do it quickly; that's why the Mike drops to depth in a Tampa-2--to cover the vacant space. Good observation re Gilmore and Butler mirroring each other.

All I can say is that I'm grateful that we have posters like Erik that know their X's and O's this well.

Just for clarity, P51 is a former DB coach. I tend to take his word on these issues That's rich. You want Gilmore to do something other than his job despite the literal Patriot mantra being "do your job"? Come on dude
-
Why do I think that you have an agenda against Gilmore? Well, for one, you seem to attribute any negative play that occurs within a half a field-width to him, even when it's obvious that it's not his assignment. Even though I've explained this many times, I'll say again: I don't care at all about defending Gilmore or any other player from just criticism. I only interject when the criticism is based on false pretense (intended or otherwise). It's the same reason that I defended Robert Blanton on Gronk's TD against NRC in Buffalo last year; he didn't mistakenly jump an underneath route--he played his assignment correctly (it was simply an awful scheme). Also the same reason that I defended Meeks and blasted Gilmore on Hogan's TD last year. Gilmore's biggest deficiency has always been his lack of awareness. It's not brutally apparent because the lapses don't come often, but every so often it happens. Last night's big play by Hill, however, wasn't one of those times.

Except that you WERE talking about me, and you DIDN'T call me out. That you decided to play the "I may not have meant you" card 2 pages later is interesting, but not unexpected considering you went with ambiguity to begin with. I don't care about being right or wrong, but when someone uses misinformation to further an agenda against a player, it shouldn't surprise them if they get called on it. Disagree with me all you like; just make sure your point has merit
-
Quite simply, yes, when you say something that's incorrect, and is verified as incorrect by the guy that made the mistake on the field, then you are wrong (along with anyone that agrees with you). There no tough guy act. There's only a simple request to be a man and call out people by name. Don't sling insults couched with ambiguity and then run and hide behind a lie ("I don't read your posts but I know your opinion about this subject"). Perhaps that's asking too much; I've always been a man of high expectations.

Shocking that I'd respond to a personal attack! You're ALWAYS wrong about this player. Literally every time. You readily ignore the fact that I blast your misstatements when they're false, and only because they're false. I couldn't care less about Gilmore; what I respond to is when folks demonstrate that they don't know what's happening on the field. I thought it was Gilmore's guy at first as well, and enjoyed quite the hearty laugh in real time. When I watched the replay, seein McCourty close the gate on Hill and fail to recover, I revised my opinion. It's called watching without an agenda. You, as always, end up resorting to a personal attack when you don't have anything else of substance to contribute. Live on this site? That's cute considering you're here dropping my name unprompted as though you have an intimate knowledge of my post history. Just a tip Jer: if you're going to act like you know my MO, maybe don't try to fall back on the "I'm too busy to read your posts" nonsense. Also, is it possible that some of us work different hours than you? Nah, must be that this is my life. In the future, if you want to pick an argument with me, try a PM, or at least be man enough to mention me by name.

We'd also have certain posters that can't read a coverage making false statements and getting upset when others point out reality. Spoiler: I'm talking about you. If you're going to sling barbs, be a man and name names. I call the guy out when he plays poorly, and if you bothered to read (and you don't), you'd know that. Set aside your agenda and view the game objectively. And PS, it was Devon McCourty that said it was his responsibility, not me, but carry on Agreed and agreed. I loved seeing the listlessness from the team and fans in the 4th quarter

He posted it a few pages back--twitter link to an interview where McCourty said it was Cover 2 and his responsibility

Nice effort last night by NE They really looked prepared to play a predictable offense that cut their best WR in the offseason, lost their best RB last week, and is quarterbacked by a career check down specialist that looks like The Night King from Game of Thrones. Guess that's what happens when you can't figure out a way to cheat. A word to the wise: your troll game better be A+ if you're going to survive here as a Pats***** fan
-
Depends on if he's playing jam/bail/etc technique on the boundary--he was rather non-committal off the snap, so it's difficult to tell
-
I'm thrilled that they got hammered in their own building on opening night I love that Gilmore is catching all kinds of flak 8/10 folks on this board still can't read a coverage call to save their lives
-
Predictions: - Neither team's offense moves the ball effectively with any consistency - Each team's kicker is their best offensive weapon - Jets turn the ball over more than Buffalo Bills - 16 Jets - 12

Kaepernick and the National Anthem
thebandit27 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Unless and until he shows that he's more focused on football than he is on human rights, I'd be utterly shocked to see him get an NFL job. Coaches want guys that are football-focused. For better or worse, Kaepernick isn't. -

What would the Bills have to do against the Jets....
thebandit27 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They need to look like they can move the ball reliably on offense. I'm looking for competence at this point; not necessarily results. -

You need to teach Mrs. Bandit that trick
