  1. Well, aside from the fact that a few of us (namely @GunnerBill and myself) had Anderson rated as a 3rd round pick and subsequently had to watch the whole league pass on him, some folks recognize that he's actually a very good football player. Compare Enunwa and Anderson in 2018: Anderson started one fewer game, but had close to 30 more targets, 12 more receptions, 300 more yards, 5 more TDs, and averaged 8.0 yards per target compared to Enunwa's 6.6. The two weren't even close in terms of production; Anderson was clearly the better player.
  2. You might want to prepare yourself. I'm not saying that it's a definite, since I believe that there are others higher on their board, but I am saying that you shouldn't be surprised
  3. I'm an Oliver guy through and through
  4. Your comments about Gary and Edmunds are basically fundamentally incorrect. As has been discussed as nauseum, Gary's evaluation goes well beyond stats. Were you upset when they traded up for a QB that threw 16 TDs at Wyoming? I wasn't, because I did a real actual evaluation on the kid. As for Edmunds being available in round 2, there's no chance. Rashaan Evans went off the board 7 picks later, and he's not 80% of the prospect that Edmunds was. Your post generally reads as though you don't like Beane's 2018 draft, which is fine, but your opinions are a bit overstated
  5. Look, I get that hyperbole can be useful to make a point at times, but you've gone noodles on this one. At least 15 TDs? That would've lead the entire NFL last year. I don't think DK is a top 10 pick either, but if he is, 1,000 yards and 6-8 TDs as a rookie would certainly justify the selection. I mean, Watkins did that in year 2 and was looking every bit a WR1 before the foot injury.
  6. I hope that they aren't drafting a player in the top 10 with the intention of playing him at guard. I especially hope that they aren't doing so in order to replace a player to whom they just paid record-setting money.
  7. I've been darn-near declaratory that Jonah's best position is center, so I'm not backing off of it now.
  8. I'll say the same thing about Jonah that I've said since the talk of him going to Buffalo started: if they believe he's an elite LT, then go ahead and take him there. If they don't, then it's a bad pick IMO.
  9. Hardy played well in that defense, but he played the 9-tech if I remember correctly?
  10. Well, we did have a 100-page thread where people wouldn't stop comparing Miller to Maybin back in 2011, so this isn't surprising.
  11. Do you remember why the Jets have Leonard Williams in the first place? It's because they drafted him despite having Mo Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, and Damon Harrison on their starting DL and under contract for the foreseeable future already.
  12. I actually think that his best fit is as a 7-tech end, which is why I could see him being a great fit for this defense. That's the spot at which Charles Johnson had 41 sacks in 4 seasons under McDermott in Carolina. Look at the two players side-by-side: Johnson - 6'2", 270 lbs, 4.84 speed (1.67 10-split), 33 reps, 34" vertical, 9'10" broad, 7.50 3-cone, 34.25" arms, 9.63" hands Gary - 6'4", 277 lbs, 4.58 speed (1.63 10-split), 26 reps, 38" vertical, 10' broad, 7.26 3-cone, 34.125" arms, 9.63" hands
  13. We shouldn't be drafting for need regardless; this team should be stocking the roster with talented players at the most critical positions--the ones you pay $15M+ AAV for in free agency. Having those guys in the fold means that you don't have to pay enormous FA dollars to get them, which means you can pay more reasonable sums like $11M AAV for Mitch Morse when you need to.
  14. Wow...MLB that high? I don't share that opinion. I actually think that falls rather low on the list. I mean, in recent years, the Bills have gotten solid MLB play from mid-round picks like Preston Brown, street FAs like Zach Brown, and former UDFAs like Julian Stanford (who, IMO, looked every bit as good as Edmunds in spot duty last year). I'd say it looks more like this: QB Pass rusher CB WR LT C Everything else that's not STs STs
  15. I think he would play in a lot of different places.
  16. I think there's a real chance that the Bills take Rashan Gary
  17. Unless something significant has occurred recently to change his thinking, Mike Brown put the kibosh on any AJ Green trade a month or two ago.
  18. And apparently the Chiefs attributed so much of their success to those players that only one of them is currently on their roster, and he's slated to be an UFA next offseason.
  19. Because I'm not confused about what I mean when I say "contribute offensively", which I described quite clearly multiple times in this thread. When you draft an OT that high, you're doing so because you believe that he's an elite pass protector and great run blocker, which means he's having a big impact on the game on every offensive snap. If you intend to draft a TE in the top-10, then he better be a guy that is a great blocker and an elite pass catcher. Because if he's not an elite pass catcher, then he's only going to be marginally more useful than playing an extra offensive lineman on every down...and that's not worth a top-10 pick.
  20. There's almost no correlation between points scored and time of possession. The Chiefs lead the NFL in scoring in 2018, and were 26th in TOP/game. Atlanta and Indy both finished in the bottom half of the league in TOP/game, but scored in the top 1/3. By contrast, Baltimore and Philly were the top 2 teams in TOP, but finished 13th and 18th in scoring, respectively. Also, you may not know (or care) but the 2018 Bills actually finished with a positive TOP/game. They ranked 16th.
  21. To be fair, Chris Conley, one of DK's closes comparables, was a 3rd round pick.
  22. Relax man. Your error isn't in wanting a better pass rush or a better run D; your error is thinking that the team should be prioritizing need with the No. 9 overall pick. Draft for value, not need. If you don't have a franchise QB, then you draft one. After that, take the best player at a key position like WR, pass rusher, cover corner, and--maybe to a lesser extent--LT. When you draft for need, you usually do so by forgoing better value. That's a fool's errand.
  23. Agreed...I really like Trayveon and Montgomery at RB though...again I worry that they'll be overdrafted.
  24. You stay away from my boy J-Love! That's my draft crush, and nobody is going to steal him from me now!
  25. It won't surprise me at all if Edmunds ends up playing the LorAx role starting in 2020. He's built perfectly for it, and he's a far superior athlete to LorAx. That's why I'd be looking at an off-ball 'backer like Okereke in the mid rounds, but I have a feeling that he'll be over-drafted since off-ball LB is arguably the weakest position in the class (safety could contend as well though).
