  1. Long has another year on his deal, Foster is an ERFA; McKenzie I think is restricted but not sure.
  2. Had a feeling they'd sign another of these gadget types when Bolden didn't make the PS
  3. I would move Edmunds to that position and find a different ILB that can play in 3 LB sets. Of course, they may already have that guy in Vosean or Stanford.
  4. Beane mentioned in his presser that he thought that Taron Johnson could slide out to play boundary corner in the event of 2 injuries to that position in the same game. Obviously that would lead to them promoting Cam Lewis from the PS the following week, but his statement was mostly in regard to the emergency in-game situation.
  5. Be patient...
  6. My thinking here is that you're better off with Bates in there as your 7th OLman to get you through a game than anyone else because of his versatility. I fully expect that Long would be your starter come the following week. I know most coaches don't like to shuffle their line for one injury, but if you need to, you can easily kick Feliciano over to C if Morse gets hurt and slide Ford to RG with Nsekhe moving to OT. That lineup had a lot of practice in the preseason. Anyway, that's just my "plan for every possible scenario" thought.
  7. I think that Bates is almost certain to dress on game day, even if he's not one of their 7 best OLmen. They're not going to dress more than 7, and they need a contingency plan in place if they were to lose 2 OLmen in the same game. Lose two interior, no problem: Bates goes in at one spot and Ford slides to guard with Nsekhe at OT Lose one interior and one tackle, no brainer: Bates goes in at interior and Nsekhe at OT Lose two tackles: Nsekhe at LT and Bates at RT If Bates doesn't dress you lose that flexibility.
  8. The absolute earliest that he can be signed to a new contract is March of 2021 in accordance with the current CBA (and I doubt that'll change with a new CBA). His rookie deal runs through the completion of the 2021 season, but the team can pick up his 5th year option for 2022, which would be a one-year extension equal in amount to the average of the top-10 QB salaries in 2022. Of course, they could tag him twice after that as well.
  9. Sign whichever WR the Bengals let go between Boyd and Green Sign one of the following EDGE players: Clowney, Ngakoue, Fowler, Beasley, Von Miller (if his option isn't picked up), C. Jones (if released for cap reasons), Campbell (if released for cap reasons) Sign Tre White to an extension
  10. In theory, I agree with you. However, as you well know, events in the NFL rarely play out like we expect them to on an every-game basis. Every year there are wins and losses that you simply can't explain. Just how did the Alex Smith Chiefs utterly dismantle the AFC Champion Patriots in the 2017 opener? Did the near-NFC-Champion Saints really give up 48 points to the 5th-worst team in the NFL, at home, on opening day of 2018? You get my point (and, for the record, I get yours)
  11. So in other words, if the Bills lose in week 1, their season is effectively falling 26 stories? Well, I disagree. Look no further than 2018, where the Colts, Seahawks, Cowboys, Saints, and Bears all lost to non-playoff teams and still made the postseason. Then you have the Chargers and Texans, who also lost (albeit to KC and NE, respectively) and they made the playoffs as well. That's 7/12 playoff teams that lost in week 1, and 3 of them (NO, Chicago, and LAC) lost divisional games. I hear you; I guess my POV is simply that every game is important.
  12. I appreciate the sentiment. I completely agree that there are games you'd much prefer to lose. In the macro, however, if you go 10-6 and lose all 6 division games (which I realize is incredibly unlikely for any team), you're still 10-6 and probably going to the postseason...I guess that's the general crux
  13. If they win, they'll be 1-0, and have 15 games remaining. If they lose, they'll be 0-1, and have 15 games remaining. Not trying to be a jerk, but that's really the long and short of it. It's one game.
  14. As a matter of house-cleaning, he's never made a pro bowl.
  15. I think we're all chastising you with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
  16. Why. In the name of all things reasonable. Would. You. Even. Mention. That.
  17. Byron Jones continues to look like the odd man out in the Cowboys' money bonanza
  18. He really started to decline at the end of his Oakland tenure, and he wasn't good in Denver
  19. Now Brock Miller is a guy I'd like on our squad
  20. Wasn't sure if either played a regular season game
  21. From the top of my head: Reggie Bush Vontae Davis
  22. I'm thinking that Jones would be the backup slot and big nickel go-to...basically Neal's role.
