OAK planning to suspend AB (edit: apologized, playing)
thebandit27 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really. Is it worth looking into betting a couple of mid-round picks on the best WR in football continuing to play the way he has for 7 straight years? Yep. In fact, it's utterly negligent not to do so when you have a total dearth of talent at the position and a young QB. -

I was in on him, and I'll own every bit of it; I would've been pleased at the time to give up a 3rd and a 5th for him. When I saw that he demanded a new contract, I said that I felt that was a bit of a red flag, but that the meager investment would be worth it given how good he's been. Would I have buyer's remorse at this point? Yes, undoubtedly. Would I feel utter shame over giving up the picks that turned into Singletary and Vosean Joseph? No...mild disappointment most likely. -

Regarding #1 above, I have to say "kind of"...if you look at the drive stats, they tell a bit more of the story: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/drivestatsdef/2018 You are absolutely correct that Buffalo ranked dead last in LOS per drive. However, they also ranked 1st in number of plays allowed per drive, 2nd in yards allowed per drive, 10th in points allowed per drive, and 6th in drive success rate (i.e. percentage of drives that resulted in a first down or TD--sans kneeldowns). They also produced the 3rd-highest percentage of 3-and-outs. Just some additional context for consideration.

OAK planning to suspend AB (edit: apologized, playing)

Yeah, who would want the best WR in football? Still, not quite as stoopid as declaring Tyrod Taylor a franchise QB after 2015! -
Should Barkley be the holder on kicks?
thebandit27 replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Usually...of course, the backup QB that most folks around here feel quite comfortable with was, in fact, the team's 5th QB last year. -
A somewhat random prediction has come to me in the last few minutes: At some point in this game, Allen is going to get the Jets to jump offside with his very Rodgers-like hard count, and on that play, he'll throw a deep ball for a TD or that results in a DPI in the end zone that leads to a TD.

True, but this article is merely looking for a historical correlation between point spread and win probability. It really doesn't do much to forecast win probability. For example: according to that formula, the Patriots and Vikings each had over 100% chance of winning in week 3 of last year. Both lost by more than 2 TDs.

if this comes from the same source as the Melvin Gordon info, I'm starting to doubt it... http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/matt-barkley?id=2539308 -
Zeke 6 years $90 millionw/ $50 mil guarenteed
thebandit27 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting...for the record, I don't need anyone to change their stance. I endeavor to prod folks into truly thinking theirs all the way through (and I encourage folks to do the same for me). As it stands, the only way I'm paying a RB Zeke's kind of money is if 3 factors are met: 1) He is a truly elite RB 2) He is young and healthy 3) My team is clearly and obviously inside my Super Bowl window -

Yep...that's another factor as well. I remember being a kid and watching Steve Largent, in the same game during which he passed Don Hutson for the career receiving TD record, pick up a botched snap (he was Seattle's holder) and run it into the end zone for a PAT -

That's fine, but it's probably worth noting in your original statement something to the effect of "even if you show me I won't change my mind" as opposed to "show me just one" and then saying "yeah, but that doesn't matter" -
It's not just the cap space that they have, they have that amount of space and have 43 players under contract for the 2020 season, including their QB1, LT, CB1, and defensive chess piece (Edmunds), which covers 4/6 "big money" positions. They can afford to spend a ton on the other 2 high-dollar spots in free agency, which is nice since WR and EDGE will be relatively loaded.

First, you didn't say "won", you said: Second, does the fact that he got hurt negate his contributions to the team's Super Bowl run? The dude had over 1,800 yards from scrimmage (4th in the NFL behind Saquon, Zeke, and McCaffrey) and scored 21 TDs (lead all non-QBs by a significant margin--the next closest was Kamara with 18, followed by Antonio Brown with 15). For some further context: Gurley scored 21 TDs from scrimmage in 2018. Without looking, who finished 2nd on the Rams in TDs from scrimmage, and with how many? As a team, the Rams scored 55 TDs from scrimmage in 2018. Gurley had 21 of those...that's 38 percent. He also accounted for 26 percent of the team's total yards from scrimmage. Oh, and he did all of this after he was given his big-money deal. Let's not lose sight of how important he is to their offense. If you're making your case based upon the Super Bowl, it only strengthens the idea that Gurley was the team's most important player. He played, by far, his lowest snap count of the season, and the Rams scored their fewest points of the season. It's not a coincidence. -

Closest you'll get to that is Dawson Knox--he played QB in high school. I don't think any of Buffalo's other WRs played QB. -

I am almost always in favor of the holder being a WR. I want a guy back there that is used to catching the ball at different levels. The ideal guy, for me, would be a WR that is also a special teams player, since he would be practicing with the ST unit most of the time anyway. So, I submit that the best holder for this team, this year, would be Andre Roberts. -

Food for Sunday's Game
thebandit27 replied to Amarillo Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I usually like to make food that's themed to the opponent's city, so this week I'll probably make fat sandwiches and Italian hot dogs, since our opponent is from New Jersey.
