Assume I've done a 7 round mock draft and the players I selected at those choices were available. Can you reassess your thought based on that information.
-
So who would you pick?
-
Assume we keep all of our picks and stay at 12 and take a QB. We still have 5 additional picks in days 1 and 2 and 3 more on day 3. Let's focus on those in this post. Here are my picks for the rest of the draft. 22nd Pick - Leighton Vander Eshe MLB 53rd Pick - James Washington - WR 56th Pick - Rashard Penny - RB 65th Pick - Trenton Thompson - DT 96th Pick - Fred Warner LB 4th Round - Brandon Parker - OT 5th Round - Levi Wallace - CB 6th Round - Tracy Walker - S Lets see what the boards thoughts on this draft and if you don't like my picks please explain why and substitute your own.
-
These are reasons why I believe Mayfield may be one of the "Big 4" that's gonna drop. Honestly I believe Darnold/Allen or Allen/Darnold are gonna be the first two QB's taken. Rosen has a series of red flags such as concussion history, political viewpoints and leadership issues and propensity to take a lot of hits in the pocket. I see him dropping and the issues with Mayfield playing in a systems friendly offense and no experience under center may see him drop. In all honesty I see only 2 QB's taken in picks 1-10 unless some team (Arizona is highly probable) comes up. The Dolphins have issues all over the field, limited salary cap space and too much money tied to Tannehill after his contract restructure to pick a QB at 11. So, Rosen and Mayfield could drop to 12, If this occurs the Bills have options and in theory if they like both equally they could switch picks with Arizona and grab an additional 3rd round pick to get the other QB. Very interesting scenario.

Looking at Baker Mayfield's 2017 highlights I love his accuracy and movement in the pocket. However, my concern is he played exclusively from the shotgun in a spread offense. Did not see many "tight window" throws and many of his completions were based on hitting wide open receivers based on scheme and match-up advantages. I'm wondering how long it will take Mayfield to learn to play under center and how is his footwork. I like everything else about him and although I don't like that he's only 6'1", I think his pocket movement will alleviate that height concern. What is the boards thoughts on this?

I'd live with 12 and 22 and next years 1st. Nothing more then that and if Cleveland takes Josh Allen at 1, then I'm staying at 12 and improving the team by using my picks in picks other then QB. Rosen has way too many red flags for me to trade up for. Darnold is turnover prone and has small hands, Rosen has concussion issues, Mayfield is still 6'1" and may have maturity issues. Allen is the one guy I would trade up for. I think he may be a true perfect fit in Buffalo with time to develop.
-
So, to get Rosen, you would need to trade up with the Giants. I like Rosen, however I'm truly concerned about his red flags, concussion history, leadership and ability to motivate those around him, not an elite NFL arm, family money and California kid who may not adapt to a WNY lifestyle. I'm concerned he is Rob Johnson 2.0 and trading the majority of our picks could set us back three years. What would you trade to the Giants to get the 2nd pick?
-
So, your solution is to trade away all of our draft capital for a franchise QB who is destined to fail with the lack of offensive talent surrounding him. I'd rather draft a serviceable QB at 22, build the team at key positions that we are weak and let the team get better. Which QB do you want and why?
-
Looking at each position group before the draft I wanted to assess strengths from (1) lowest (5) highest and what round the Bills need to address each group. QB - (2) - Round 1 RB - (3.5) - Round 3 OT - (3) - Round 4 or later OL Interior - (3) - Round 4 or later TE - (3.5) - Post draft FA signee WR - (2) - Round 2 DT - (2.5) - Round 3 LB - (1.5) - Round 1 & 2 (need 2) S - (3.5) - Post Draft FA CB - (4) - Round 4 or later Love to see and read your thoughts

I like three TE's in this draft Mark Andrews of Oklahoma, Dallas Goddert of South Dakota State and Mike Geseki of Penn State. All are pass catchers and not much as blockers for the run game.

Well Chuck Wagon, I guess you find any new topic which pieces together information reported as meaningless. Since others have responded with their feedback maybe it's you that should not waste people's time with your whiny posts about what should be posted.

Trying to read between the lines and fight thru all of the misinformation here is my take as of 1:30 PM on March 30th. 1. Bills have definite interest in Baker Mayfield 2. Denver has supposed interest in Mason Rudolph So, if this is true, I could see a trade possibility. If I'm the Biils I offer the 12th pick and next years 1st in exchange for Denver's 5th pick. Trade value chart shows 500 points so next years 1st is an overpayment, but it allows us to maintain all of our 2018 picks to make needed improvements in areas we have significant holes. What would you offer Denver to get a chance for Baker Mayfield?
-
I think based on who is picked after the Bills, I would prefer Malik Jefferson LB from Texas and DT Harrison Phillips at 53 and 56, then Rashard Penny at 65 and Frank Ragnow at 96
-
I just reviewed the latest CBS mock draft. They have us trading our 12th pick, our 4th round pick and our 2019 1st round pick to move up to 4. They have Allen to Cleveland, Farnum of to the Giants and Rosen to the Jets. The Bills going up to get Baker Mayfield, then taking WR Cortland Sutton at 22, C Frank Ragnow at 53 and LB Josey Jewell at 56. i'm ok with using our 1st in 2019 because we have so many potential starting caliber players in this draft act class and we have probably 80 million in cap space to fill holes in 2019. What are your thoughts on this two round Bills draft.
-
I like most of the elements of this deal. I don't have a problem throwing in a 1st in 2019. However the trade should not include our first 2nd round choice. If you break the trade down it's Bills 12th pick and next yrs 1st and pick 56 for the Giants Number 2. Then it's Bills 22nd and Hughes for OBJ. That sounds very fair to me.

Matt Miller's latest Mock makes sense

Sorry, I'm a no go on this. 6th pick is rated at 1600 points on Draft Tek chard, 12 is at 1200, 22 is at 780. Why would we sacrifice 380 draft points which is equitable to a mid-range 2nd round pick to select concussion prone, slight of build Josh Rosen, who lacks pocket presence and is Rob Johnson 2.0 waiting to happen. Lets simply give away our future starting MLB to draft this guy. You must be kidding me. If you really want him, stay at 12 and with your future bust you can at least build the rest of your roster and hope AJ works out. -
This is quite interesting. As the Giants have only six picks I could not see what they could offer to go from 2 to 1. Maybe it's the Browns offering a 2nd to Giants to swap positions from 4 to 2. Then if the rest of the report is correct, the Browns take Allen and Barkley, Jets make their pick and Giants select Darnold if the Jets don't pick him and go Mayfield or Rosen, or select Chubb at 4 if Darnold is taken. This leads to a lot of interesting possibilities for the Bills. Which QB drops and do they drop past the Broncos and Colts picks? Does Arizona come up with an offer to move up from 15 to get a QB, or does Denver look forward and take the remaining top 4 QB prospect at 4. Indeed, this is getting interesting

Which Teams have QB Needs in this draft

What would you think if the Bills got. . .
RPbillsfan replied to TigerJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Allen will be their at 12 along with Mayfield and Jackson. Payne looks like a potentially outstanding DT, but the need at LB is more pressing. Chark would be awesome at 53, exactly the complimentary speed receiver the Bills need at WR. I like Crosby at 56, but I think he will last until 65 and maybe the 2nd pick in the 2nd round could be a RB like a Rashard Penny. I do have concerns over Dawson's slower then position desired 40 time and dosent have the quick twitch I want in a DB. My picks now would be: 12. Jackson 22. Vander Eshe 53. DJ Chark 56. Rashard Penny 65. Tarvarus McFadden 96. Wyatt Teller 4th Shaqueem Griffith 6th Tracy Walker -
Which Teams have QB Needs in this draft
RPbillsfan replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was hoping for a well-thought response and the more I post the more I'm coming to the realization that my fellow Bills fans, though passionate are intellectually lazy, uninformed and sadly incapable of providing actual quality feedback on any post that requires thought. Maybe because I moved out of Buffalo 42 yrs ago, became college educated, well-spoken and have the ability to convey a written message is too much for the drunken, intellectually challenged people who continue to post imbecilic posts that show no depth of knowledge on football, much less sentence structure, grammar or spelling. Oh well, I will continue to try to bring up the level and quality of this message board. -
In another thread I posted a list of teams whose need for a QB to be drafted in this upcoming draft into 4 categories. My assessment is that currently 17 teams have no need to use a draft pick at the QB position. 4 are must draft 7 have Needs but have higher priority needs 4 have needs round 2 or later. As I review the available QB's there may not be 15 worthy of a draft selection. Your thoughts on this post and can you identify the teams in each category?

4th may be the highest we can go.
RPbillsfan replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So many varied responses/concerns. So much hype regarding all the QB's (4) going in the top 5 picks. STOP IT This is so media driven and not football and team building. As the draft nears and teams assess their current rosters, look at the list of available free agents, look at their position in the draft and review their draft boards you will start to see the realism and not the over-hyped speculation as the draft approaches. Now, let's look at the situation realistically. Who really needs a 1st RD QB. Here are the catagories: 1. Must Draft 2. Could use a QB but has higher priority in RD 1 3. Need a QB round 2 or later 4. No QB need for this draft 1. Must Draft Cleveland NY Jets Buffalo Arizona 2. Could use a QB but has higher priority in RD 1 Miami Baltimore LA Chargers Cincinnati Pittsburgh New Orleans New England 3. Need a QB Round 2 or later NY Giants Denver Washington Jacksonville 4. No QB Need Tennessee Houston Indianapolis Kansas City Oakland Philadelphia Dallas Detroit Minnesota Chicago Green Bay Tampa Bay Seattle LA Rams San Francisco Atlanta Carolina Any disagreements with this list
