  1. If you want to focus on that, you also have to point out that we also played the Chiefs and Titans, two of the absolute best in the league. Overall, our schedule has been tougher than average. The defense hasn't been especially good this year. If what we're doing is working in one area, that's great, let's look at that, without forgetting the areas where things aren't going so well. That's just not true, turnovers aren't all that matter. Rushed throws that fall incomplete matter plenty too. Open receivers the QB didn't have time to see or hit matter. Pressures are excellent, they lower lower the effectiveness of the QB and the whole passing game. Sacks are better, they lower effectiveness even more, but pressures are good.
  2. Quick reminder, despite a ton of crucial injuries, we're 6-2 halfway through the season. The progression you speak of is absolutely happening.
  3. Hue Jackson has been a head coach two full years and parts of two more. The first was the 2011 Raiders, where he helmed for eight games. Then two and a half with the Browns where reaching the playoffs was a distant crazy dream for this term, winning three games in two and a half years. I'm not sure who you were thinking of. Did you mean Marvin Lewis? He was 0-7 in the playoffs, I believe, but that was over 16 seasons as heac coach. There's no comparison with Lewis or with Jackson.
  4. "Only" 89%? Are we losing touch with the fact that 89% is extremely high?
  5. How he sounds in press conference is right up there with the amount of dust on the stadium seats in terms of impact on the game and discussion-worthiness. He's fine and the Bills haven't played passive. They're 6-2 and wouldn't be if they'd played passive. Next time you might take up the brand name of the headsets and the effect that has on the team's mindset.
  6. I'm not clear what a "secret MVP" is. If it's about the same as an MVP, I'd disagree strongly. But he really has been an excellent pickup. He's done a fine job and you're right, he doesn't get mentioned, for all the right reasons.
  7. I'm arguing one play because they started talking about it and went on and on and on. I didn't bring it up. There are other plays where it looks like he made mistakes or couldn't hold up his end. When people mention them, I don't argue. But a play like that where it's obviously not his fault, yeah, I like to point out bad arguments when I find them. And I've never argued that his play has regressed. It has. I've said again and again that the question isn't whether he's regressed, it's why. He has an injury, Lotulelei is gone and the whole system just isn't working right now. That's to blame for an awful lot of it, I believe. Not all, I don't think. But likely a lot.
  8. According to Jeremiah Sirles on the Shout podcast, Sirles always liked to take on one guy as a project when he comes to a team and be that guy's mentor. And for Sirles that guy was Boettger. And one of the things Sirles told him was that if he was multiple, they wouldn't be able to bring themselves to cut him. Boettger took that to heart and now can play all five of the OL positions. That's why Sirles says Boettger is around ... because he worked like crazy and learned all five.
  9. Better isn't the only thing that's part of the equation. There's expense, there's scheme fit, there's position fit, there's culture fit, and more. His last contract was $9.5 mill for a year and he drastically underperformed. He still could easily get a contract that might be too high. So if they feel that scheme fit, position fit and culture fit (for a guy who didn't show up to camp till ten days late without any clear reason) all work, there will still be financial issue. My bet is that this is unlikely. We'll see. And you're not better than Klein, dude, and I say that without knowing you. Not that I don't want a replacement for Klein out there. I do. But not if it's you. More, I"m not saying that as an insult to you. I don't want me out there either.
  10. Yup. And Seattle is generally ranked around 3rd or 4th best in the league, us being so close says good things about what people around the league think of the Bills. Despite the pissing and moaning here, generally we're considered a good team, top ten and it's been a very significant time since we were considered a top ten team after eight games.
  11. Sorry. The perils of posting while exhausted. Don't know what I was thinking. I apologize for the tone as well. Clearly I need to stop posting and get to sleep.
  12. Nonsense about the coaching. Too early to fully know about either guy, but particularly Flores. If you had to pick one right now you'd go with McDermott. This Bills team has overachieved each of the last three years. Not so far this year but it's still up in the air what will happen this year. My guess is that you're right about Allen and Tua, but any guess coming after one game's performance is based on such a vast lack of knowledge as to be worth virtually nothing.
  13. Not buying that bit about reluctance at all. People were overwhelmed with Allen's performances those first four weeks. There was overall very very little reluctance. The narrative has already changed twice. First in that we were for real, then again that we are good but not a serious Super Bowl contender playing as we are. Yeah, it'll switch again if we beat Seattle, which is only reasonable. That's what should happen. Same with the hesitation. Unless the whole team and particularly the defense starts playing better, we'll deserve it until, as you say, we close out the division and win a meaningful January game.
  14. Yeah, that's how it works. In Bizarro world. In this one, on the other hands, each extra game in the win column gives you ... well, it give you an extra win, which is +1.0, not half a game. Two wins more is two games up. One more Dolphins loss when they have played one game less than us is a further half a game. If the Dolphins win that extra game while we're on the bye week, the margin will go down to just two games ahead. If they lose, it will go up to three games ahead. Two and a half games up.
  15. September Josh Allen throwing into November's defenses would not be a good look. September Josh was throwing into man-to-man single coverage deep. If he throws the same pass to the same receiver at the same spot now it's defenced or intercepted by the double coverage teams are applying deep.
  16. Nah, they aren't getting Trevor Lawrence or anywhere close.
  17. Yes, a fantastic HC. I'd rather see him out of here. Won't happen, though, unfortunately. He has that team looking better every day.
  18. There's nobody out there worth paying for. I'd be thrilled, but it's unlikely.
  19. He actually played fairly decent at 1-tech. He wasn't terrible. But yes, as Gunner said above, it stops him from doing what he does best. Not their best option, but they're searching. With all the injuries on top of their 1-tech woes without Star, they've had to try a lot of different things.
  20. Nonsense. Burkhead and Wynn hit him at virtually the same time, Wynn is able to get such good contact that he gets his right hand, the inside hand on him very solidly, while his left appears to not be able to reach him because it's behind Burkhead. Most of Wynn's body is behind Burkhead forcing him forward into Edmunds. Wynn got his whole weight behind the play pushing both Edmunds himself and also forcing Burkhead forward into him. They both get excellent contact and full impact. You can see Edmunds' shoulder fly back off Wynn's hand and the rest of Wynn's weight including his outside hand is right on Burkhead like he's the snowplow and Burkhead is the blade. Yes, Wynn separates after that, but only after getting full contact right at first impact.
  21. The difference being he's complaining about whiny little posters while you're whining about a 6-2 team in a winning effort. Yes, this. Was it Wynn, not Vollmer? Now I have to go check. EDIT: You're right, it's Wynn, I'll go edit.
  22. Please, dude. It's extremely clear that they both got hands on him, within a tenth of a second of each other. 76 was half on Edmunds, his right hand is on his shoulder, and half ramming himself into Burkhead's back pushing him forward. That's 310 pounds of Wynn and 215 of Burkhead. Yes, Wynn separates and only Burkhead is on him for awhile and Wynn connects with him again later, further on down the field. But the initial impact is with both of them hitting him together.
  23. Good lord, you're going to blame that on 49? Not one but two guys get to him unblocked, they both hit him and it's his fault? Jeez, people on here are willing to ignore anything to maintain opinions that didn't particularly make sense even when they were formed.
  24. I'd disagree that it's quite as simple as that. Without Belichick, Brady doesn't win five SBs. But yeah, I've always thought Brady was more of the reason they were as good as they were. Both were needed, but Brady was a bigger part of it.
