1/26/25 GAMEDAY AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME Bills @ Chiefs Gameday Thread
BRH replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not old enough to remember the AFL days, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), but my first football memory is sitting with my dad in front of our 19” black-and-white Zenith and having him tell me, “watch number 32.” The ‘70s were a bleak period in our history, but at least we had OJ. And then he left, and Chuck Knox came here with his old Rams like Isaiah Robertson and Bill Simpson in tow, and we drafted Jerry Butler and Joe Cribbs, ended the stupid Miami streak, and we had the spirit, talkin’ proud, talkin’ proud …. And then it crumbled and the Bills went 8-40 during my final three years of high school, and then the worm turned and we had the glorious ‘90s … and then came the drought, and then came McBeane, and then came Josh Allen, and suddenly that little kid on his dad’s lap was in his 50s, his dad was in his 80s, and his son was in his 20s, and all three of them are waking up this morning in different cities across the nation with the same identical, pure, simple thought: GO BILLS.- 644 replies

AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
BRH replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Every single team in the league including the Chiefs passed on Keon Coleman in the first round. If Worthy needs this to get motivated for the AFC championship game, I'm not worried. -

I would be surprised if that was the case. I don't remember him playing at all as a rookie except on ST. Different times back then. We can only hope to be that age, period. -
John Harbaugh Presser After the Loss - I always respected him

I think they started out committed to running Henry, and after we stuffed him a couple of times they decided to try something else for a bit. Then Lamar threw a terrible pick and fumbled, and they went back to the run, but this time with Justice Hill as the lead back. That loosened things up somewhat and made it possible for both Henry and Hill (why are they not called the Goodfellas?) to run downhill in the second half. At the end they had no choice but to put the ball back in Lamar's hands. We clearly came out in the second half expecting to go up three scores and start teeing off on the passing game, but when we ***** the bed on our first drive it looked a little like we weren't expecting them to run as much as they did. The RPO abandonment may have been a concession to the weather and a fear of a fumbled exchange. I have no doubt we were prepared for it after seeing what they did to Pittsburgh last week. -
Levy was 0-4 in Super Bowls, McDermott cannot go 0-4 vs KC

When. -
And if you had to pick one regular season game where you'd want him to have an impact, that would be the one. Like the poster just before you said, he can be worth the investment if he just makes one big catch at a crucial moment in a big game. He can be valuable just for the threat he poses. I couldn't care less whether he has a passion for the game. He's a professional who will play hard for his paycheck whether he gets 0 targets or 10, and he doesn't create drama. He's the anti-Diggs in so many ways. Exactly what we needed at this point in time.

Personally, this Ravens matchup is my "McDermott Game."

That's pretty much what I said about Jim Boeheim for his last 20 years. All it takes is one. -

Pretty sure most Dolphins and Jets fans feel the same way. If not I'd be disappointed in them. Pats fans want us to win for sure, to forestall more talk about KC's dynasty. -

Ain’t nobody wasting Lamar but Lamar himself. NINE Pro Bowlers, a solid OL, a great defense, two stud TEs, a generational RB and a HC who won a SB with Joe Flacco. Lamar’s two giveaways sealed their fate. All the rest is just complaining that his supporting cast and coaches couldn’t overcome HIS mistakes. -

Some people seem to know how to do that. I'm not one of them and neither are you. -
I had complete faith in Josh. I was serene even as I thought the game was about to be tied. Ravens fans and media glazers telling you they felt the same about Lamar after the first half are lying.

Pry this narrative out of their cold dead hands. "Had adversity" is some kind of way of saying "gave the ball to the other team twice."

And that one penalty was as BS as they come. They played a clean game. That doesn't happen without good coaching. -

Lamar just won a fourth MVP as you typed that. -

Seems like an MVP wouldn’t let that happen. First thing a buddy texted me after that play: “He had to have been a shortstop growing up.” Just textbook fielding. -

I just watched it again, and you’re probably right. But a little higher and maybe a touch sooner and he walks in. It wasn’t a Jackie Smith drop (now im really dating myself). -

He also made a shoestring tackle on Henry or else that one was going straight to the house. He was very good. -

Oh he has to make that catch for sure. But it’s okay to say it was not a good throw. -

MVPs don’t turn the ball over twice in the biggest game of the season, and they don’t need a tight end to convert a tush push either. -

The media will lay it entirely at Andrews’ feet. Those who know ball, know better. -

You're just wrong. e. A passer who is standing still or fading backward after the ball has left his hand is obviously out of the play and must not be unnecessarily contacted by an opponent through the end of the down or until the passer becomes a blocker, or a runner, or, in the event of a change of possession during the down, until he assumes a distinctly defensive position. However, at any time after the change of possession, it is a foul if: 1. an opponent forcibly hits the quarterback’s head or neck area with his helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder 2. if an opponent lowers his head and makes forcible contact with any part of his helmet against any part of the passer’s body. This provision does not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or the helmet in the course of a conventional block.
