  1. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/8294309/derek-jeter-laughs-skip-bayless-ped-use-insinuation Sure, the sports culture's (and my personal) apotheosis of Derek Jeter may be overstatement....but for !@#$ sake, can't we give the most respected athlete of our time the benefit of the doubt? I would personally stop watching baseball if it turned out DJ was using anything worse than a One-a-Day vitamin.
  2. Hey, go out with a sense of accomplishment.
  3. It's interesting to me how these conversations go. People take sides seemingly based on the premise that the story needs a good guy and bad guy.
  4. Every word was, at one point, not a word. Shakespeare himself invented hundreds of them.
  5. I take it as a metaphor. As in, due to this running back's size, speed and tenacity it's as if his momentum is carrying him downhill (ie. harder to stop).
  6. In this particular case, what part of the article indicates PC !@#$s being involved? Now, perhaps the subtext is that the Police Chief acted quickly in order to avoid a firestorm from the aforementioned !@#$s...but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
  7. I refuse to accept the fate of Guam.
  8. Gonna take a lot to drag me away from you. There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do. I bless the rains down in Aaaaaaafrica.
  9. 90% of the time when Byrd is spoken about on TV, he's called "Jarius". Just heard it twice on ESPN. Why is a two-syllable word so difficult to pronounce? Are there a bunch of people named Jarius that I've never heard of, where this should be a common mistake?
  10. Thanks guys. I appreciate the opportunity to add to the discussion.
  11. Remember that game in 2010 where he positively abused Pittsburgh's interior line? I'll try to find the link, but according to Football Outsiders it was one of the greatest DT performances EVER in a single game.
  12. Baptism by fire. I like it. Provided the entire OL isn't on crutches yet again by season's end, I think it will be a strong point.
  13. Great premise, good show. I find it to be worth the 30 minutes each week, but never spectacular.
  14. For the fact that he plays a character who gets into trouble for running his mouth, nobody accomplishes quite as much as Aaron Paul with just facial expressions. "Conveyance", as you put it, is a good term. There is absolutely no communication gap between his body language and our understanding of its meaning.
  15. Not if you're afraid of Virginia Woolf.
  16. Plenty of QBs put up gaudy numbers in college, but at any given moment there are only about 5 "franchise" QBs in the NFL. (I always take this term to mean, this quarterback is the greatest asset in the franchise). So, not saying you're wrong, but just curious...in what way does Pachall distinguish himself to you as a potential Franchise QB?
  17. My thoughts on last night's episode "Buyout"... http://www.entertainment-bureau.com/breaking-bad-review-episode-5-06-buyout/2918 Thanks, as always, to those who read.
  18. Very tense episode. In half the scenes, I was expecting a major character to bite the dust. Question: Why can't super chemistry genius Walt synthesize methylamine himself? And if he can, isn't the batch of the product just a MacGuffin?
  19. "That's a personal foul. Number 99 on the defense. After he tackled the quarterback, he's down there givin' him the business."
  20. If you think you have two quarterbacks, you probably have zero. Of course, I wish the Bills were a little further removed from that statement.
  21. Yeah, Thigpen is as good as gone. Brad Smith? Talk about a jack of all trades and a master of none. Not worth the $4 million. If he can't be trusted to throw, I would substitute FJ and Choice on his direct snaps and move on.
  22. Graham's upside is higher than Cousins'. (In my opinion).
  23. Yeah, the first team D gave up 2 touchdowns in 2 preseason games so let's just change everybody's position. Madden....
