Who would you like to see the Bills get?
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bell. Full stop. Pretty much every other problem we have can be worked on in the draft IMHO, and I would really like to see this shored up beforehand. -
[closed]Bills quietly re-sign Scott
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With TE's becoming more popular, this may be a good, low key signing. I'm happy to see us quietly resigning our players at a decent price. -
Demetrius Bell - Now an Eagle

Smith also had his competition sign with someone else. But I think we can consider Bell having fewer offers than Peyton Manning. -
Demetrius Bell - Now an Eagle
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Make no doubt, I reaaaalllllly hope we do too. But the Bills have made their offer and Bell has declined to counter. The man is shopping around free agency and I wouldn't be surprised if he finds a taker. -
I don't know...I kind of fall into the "Andy Levitre did a bang up job at LT" camp. Not to say that no one can do better, but barring us somehow taking Kalil I don't anyone to immediately draft to be an impact. Of course, if Buddy fills this in FA I may begin to suspect he can walk on water.

DE Mark Anderson in Buffalo (SIGNED)
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to SKRAAPY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not saying their bad. But I think that we are concentrating our resources on the Defensive Ends and Tackles. -
WTH are the Dolphins thinking?
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Bud Adams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wouldn't be surprised if Miami tries to get an earlier pick for Tannehill and has him holding a clipboard for the one year contract they have with Garrard. -
DE Mark Anderson in Buffalo (SIGNED)
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to SKRAAPY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we've seen an interesting point made. I don't think anyone here would contend that we have an elite LB or CB corps. Oh Barnett was a steal and I'm happy to have him, but the D-line seems to be the place where we are trying to minmax everything. The general idea seems to be that if we pressure the line enough, our opponents are going to have to pull TE's or WR's to block for their pass schemes, which reduces the pressure on our CB and LB corps and stops people from running straight up the middle like they did last year. If they can pull this off, using K. Williams and Dareus in the middle with backup from Carrington with M. Williams and a rotation of Kelsay, Anderson and Merriman I think we can have quite a defensive front. -
Stephon Gilmore
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why not? I feel like we could use a CB. If we get into a trade with someone for later in the first round I would have zero qualms with getting him, but that sums up a lot of players. -
Andy LeVitre or Jairus Byrd??
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Levitre. I mean, I would love both but it looks like we might lose Bell and I don't think we can afford to lose any more O-line players. -
Sign Roscoe Parrish, he is still looking
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah...I'm a Parish fan, but I can't remember a season where he wasn't hurt. -
TEBOW!!! is a Jet! (finally)
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about anyone else, but I can see tebow going to Miami. Smith has had his FA competition snatched up by Denver and Miami needs to build from the ground up anyway. Whether or not this would be a good thing for us I can't say. -
Geez. I hope he can make some whine with those sour grapes. See what I did there?

I'm more interested in how this would effect the QB jockeying in the draft. If the Phins are going to sign a FA in Smith, that leaves Seattle open to take Flynn. Now, that pretty much drops the big competition for Tannehill, which destroys leverage for the Bills to trade down to help someone get him. That said, if Nix wants him, Tannehill would likely be a lot more open for the taking.

The Offensive Line Doesn't Matter
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, good. I was worried for a moment that this wasn't sarcasm. That said, while I agree that we need someone to replace Bell if he leaves and our depth needs serious work, I don't know if this translates into a 1st round draft pick. Certainly some picks somewhere, but the O-line we have did better than anyone expected last year. Part of it was doubtless part of the style of offense we played, but they didn't do half bad. -
Brad Smith as our #2 reciever
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
...yeah, technically he is QB/WR. We've just been using him as a wildcat QB. -
I think you're mostly on the mark here. I would disagree with you on our CB situation though. I think that we're somewhat overrated since teams could gouge us in the running game. When we played elite teams they carved up our secondary, and even our DE's greatest success (the Pats the first time) was still allowing record numbers for their receivers.

With all this talk about possibly getting a WR in the draft to be Stevie's number 2, has anyone else thought that we should stop dicking around and make Smith the man? We know he can make plays, like that spectacular deflection touchdown catch against the Jets and from what I remember when we played him in the position he did well. I'm not saying that I don't like him in the wildcat. I think he's good at using it to pick up third and short, but why can't we let him do both?

My thoughts on our first 3 picks
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there may be a solid chance that Nix trades down in the order for more second round picks. If someone wants Tannehill and hasn't taken him by them we might get some bargaining power. That said, if not, I think it's going to come down to the best player available at one of the many positions that we could take. I personally think that DE is going to be sewed up for now with Mario. OT is a position of concern with all the injuries we had last year. McGee is banged up and I doubt we are going to renew McKelvin, so I don't think that a CB is off the table. I would love to see Floyd as a #2 receiver to work with SJ, but I've heard reports that Nix thinks receivers are deep in the draft so he may wait for round 2. -
Yes, I know this is dangerously skirting the territory of being shunted to the main thread. However, I wanted to know if anyone has found a way to order a Mario Williams jersey yet. Of course, we may not even know his number yet...
-
As much as I hate to say it, I think he has a point. It's as if we are going to be able to go "poof, suddenly we have no question marks". That said, Mario Williams is a huge improvement. With free agency, the draft, and waivers coming up I am confident that Mario Williams is the start, not the end, of our rebuilding this offseason.

Who's next??? Capitalize on this momentum!!!

Important question: how much cap room do we have now? -
Buddy Nix is a good GM
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
*Now* can we start saying Nix is a good job? Or should be wait until the press conference is over to wait if MW bolts?
