  1. I like it. VY has clearly been mediocre. We didn't pay much for him, so I don't feel bad about ditching him. TJ looks...well, I would be furious if he was the starter. But I don't have a problem with him as backup yet. Let's see how he does in game 4.
  2. Hey, all I know is that it makes the Dolphins even weaker this season. That's two wins I can be sure of
  3. Let's remember. He got cut by the SEAHAWKS. How many elite receivers do you remember the Seahawks having?
  4. No guys, let's be honest here. The headline will be all about the Giants. The Bills thrashing the Jets will be on page 5
  5. You know, everything but our passing game seemed to be clicking in the first half. Never before have I wanted to scream "RUN THE F ING BALL!!!" quite so much. Well, at least until the regular season. Point is, Jackson is ready. The D-line is ready. The run defense is ready. Our passing coverage? Not ready. Our passing game? NOT READY! I've been a Fitz apologist, but his timing is clearly not there. He has two weeks to get into the realm of competency
  6. I hope so, because barring Spiller's fumble the run game has looked very solid.
  7. OK, the spread offense is definitely not there yet. I really hope that they get it in gear soon.
  8. D seems solid, but I really don't see why we aren't running the ball more. Of course, we kept complaining about that playcalling choice all last season so why should it change now.
  9. Great stuff there. If we can do this in the regular season, I think we're going to be alright.
  10. Am I the only one who is drooling at the thought of our new D-line against their O-line?
  11. +1 Mind I remind everyone that the Eagles "won" free agency last season. Now, I'm glad we're spending, but to build a team from a decade of utter mediocrity and doing it right takes time. I don't see how being a year or two from continual playoff fixture is anything but optimistic.
  12. Realistic. Even if things go great, I would still like us to upgrade our LB and WR corps. But if our D line is the real deal (K. Williams and Dareus are looking like beasts), our young CB corps matures over the next year and we get a solid lock on a #2 WR as the season goes on I think we have something more important than a winning season this year: winning seasons for the next three years.
  13. Group 2. Now, don't get me wrong. I love the improvement that we're showing. I do think playoffs are a real hope now. But there is a difference between a team which is in the playoff hunt like us, and the teams who are expected to be elite and vie for the Superbowl (the Pats, 49ers and Packers)
  14. Again...it's preseason. The only time I will be worried about our O-line will be on the 9th. Do I think the O-line could use the motivation in order to get back into the swing of things? You bet. If they start coming together tomorrow, and then have two weeks to get ready I'm hoping that will be good to get their chemistry going again.
  15. Good point. Even if they have the incredible boost by a QB who hasn't played in a year and is getting older, while playing some of the best teams in the conference, I really don't see the Chargers, Raiders or Chiefs having a season like that playing against the AFC North.
  16. I'm not saying that it's impossible to go 11-5 and miss the playoffs, but it certainly is an anomaly. Then, there's the fact the Broncos get to play the Pats, Texans, Falcons, Saints and the AFC North this year. That means that the team which barely squeaked into the playoffs gets to play seven superior, and I'm not sold that Peyton Manning is their savior. Then you have the AFC south, which was pretty muddled. The Colts are rebuilding but they won't be the joke they were last season. The Texans will be recovered from their crazy injuries. I see the Texans taking the division and the rest doing enough so that they aren't win factories. The AFC North is the real trouble. They have three playoff teams (Ravens, Steelers, Bengals) who get to play the weaker AFC West, so their conference record is probably going to be strong.
  17. I'll say that he's been decent. Seeing Gilmore at work, I'm glad that we went with him instead of Glenn but as a second round pick? I think we definitely made a good call. Seriously, our draft class (Gilmore, Glenn, Graham and Brooks at least) is looking very solid.
  18. +1 I'm really sure that we can keep them both. Merriman is gone, which should give us some room, and does anyone think we're going to be keeping McGee, Dwan Edwards, Torrel Troup AND Spencer Johnson too much longer? LG and SS aren't generally exactly cap shattering salaries.
  19. Someone made a good point about November and December weather in Buffalo. Lindell is a great precision guy, but the new rules make the most effective kickoff technique to kick it back through the endzone. Lindell is able to drop it within the ten, but while that would have once been effective, now, not so much. To me, nothing has cemented tne importance of having a second kicker in the wings than the godawful attempts we saw last year when Lindell went down.
  20. Would I like to him him taken? Yes. Do I think it's going to happen? No. First, I think the people who have talked about Chan/Nix avoiding players with character issues have been spot on. Lynch is a very talented RB, and he was let go because he was trouble. Now that he's getting suspended again and the Bills have the Jackson/Spiller combo I would say things worked out for the best there. Next, I would have to talk about his asking price. If there is indeed a bidding war I'm not sure I would want us to win. What the Bills need is for someone very talented to come in and play #2 receiver. I'm pretty confident about our depth: Stevie is a good #1, Nelson is a very solid slot man, Hagan is looking like he's found a home and Graham, defying all expectations we had of him on draft day, looks like someone we can groom into a #2. But I'm really not sold on Jones as our #2 and would be very happy to find someone who we can trust to stretch the field. Is Harvin the kind of guy who can do that? That alone should preface any bidding. Next, is he looking to be dealt because he's unhappy as he's being used or because he wants more money? Last I checked, he was making under a million a season. That's not bad, even if we give him a bit of a raise. He would have to stay at that salary level, and we would have to offer a very reasonable trade in return, and have that offer beat out all the others.. Finally, there's one simple question: is the offer legit? Even if he is a headache, what makes you think that the Vikings will let him go? They're under no compulsion to trade him at all, whining aside.
  21. I'm not sure about that quite yet. Brooks, while looking good in camp is *extremely* raw. McGee is in the last year of his contract (I think) and McKelvin is under the gun to perform or perish. I see Brooks likely getting his shot if either goes down to injury or underperforms.
  22. Wait, that's a bad thing? It makes the city smell delicious. I love that smell! But in all seriousness, I highly doubt the Vikings would be broadcast anywhere outside of Minnesota on a local station unless it was a primetime game. I do believe the preseason live service or NFL rewind will help you out, OP.
  23. You know, all this hype about the Wildcat is getting me paranoid. Not because I'm afraid of the Wildcat. With all this attention, it's almost as if Rex wants people to focus on a gimmick player instead of Sanchez and the traditional ground and pound they're good at. Wait...
  24. Personally, I'm somewhat mystified about how Ruvell Martin is still on the team. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him up to keep a second kicker in Potter. Thanks for the update! One more practice!
  25. I think the the execution last Thursday was undoubtedly a failure. The question is, did it not work because we are ill suited to it or because it was the first preseason game and we are nowhere near ready? We've seen games where Fitz can undoubtedly make the reads to open things up. Also, normally, the no huddle doesn't preclude the run game where we will have two very, VERY good Running Backs. Our D looked as good as it has in years, so I can understand putting some faith in them. It deserves some experimentation, but I hope they aren't putting all their eggs in one basket on it.
