Week 17 Around the League
Captain Caveman replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/01/03/mike-evans-goes-over-1000-yards-and-then-injures-knee/ scary Where there's a (Will) Wolford there's a way? -
I am completely baffled why anyone thinks this. McDermott hasn't really said anything other than we'll do what's best for the team. And why would he or anyone expect the Steelers to win the next 2 games after the way they've played for the last month? We'll see on Sunday, but I'd bet good money that Allen and Diggs at minimum will not play longer than a quarter (my gut tells me they might play one drive or less.)
-
Last year where he still needed the work he started the game and played less than that.

Could we see Jake Fromm play this Sunday?
Captain Caveman replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eh, some of it's good and some of it's not. I take it more seriously than someone who thinks they're going to risk injury to Allen to get the 2 seed this year in this circumstance. -

I've been listening to WGR all week and it sounds too me like consensus is that Allen will probably play very little, if at all. I don't think whatever happens in Pittsburgh will really play into it. Regardless of if they win, I don't expect them to win 2 games in a row (and if they do, does anyone think the Bills are worried about going there?) Bottom line is you have to weigh likelihood of not getting that second home game (pretty unlikely) and how much it could impact our chances (even more unlikely) vs likelihood of Allen or someone significant getting hurt (it happens to teams every week) and how it would impact our chances of winning (if Allen goes down we're likely screwed.) -
Is it just me or is every team that goes through a major outbreak about to play Pittsburgh?
-
I don't know that the 2 vs 3 seed is all that important, I expect Pittsburgh may rest their team next week and might not beat the Browns anyway, (and even if they do I don't know that I would expect them to come out of the first round.) I expect Josh may play a couple series next week, but I also expect many of our starters to see a lot of bench next weekend.

Bills currently +73 vs Pats

Daily fantasy is allowed, direct betting on NFL games is not (in NYS.) -

I bet one of these earlier this year (I think it was maybe a SF / Rams game? and it was easy money. I moved to NY state since then and don't think I can wager there anymore. -
Your Favorite/Most Memorable Bills Christmas Gift

I got myself a poster of this as well, it was my first game, and I've told the story here before, but I went to that game as a Jets fan, and left a Bills fan. -
Your Favorite/Most Memorable Bills Christmas Gift
Captain Caveman replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I was a kid I got a nice Bills fleece blanket from my Grandma. I remember being disappointed, and probably didn't hide it well (as a 12 year old I wasn't really interested in a blanket) and feel bad to this day that I didn't show her proper appreciation. Today it's my football blanket, and my kids will also frequently commandeer it. I love that it came from her and that it feels like she's with us when we're using it, even though she passed around 30 years ago. My second would be going last years playoff game. My wife did not get me anything for Xmas, and I kind of guilted her into giving me the weekend away (the biggest gift was her being responsible for both of our little monsters for a few days.) -
Anonymous early MVP, player of year, coach of year, etc

No one circles the Schadenfraude like the Buffalo Bills (fans) -
Did anyone say New England yet? Daboll is designing and calling the plays, and the play design and selection this year have been near flawless. Dorsey might be doing a good job, but Allen also works with an outside QB coach, so it's hard to say how much is Dorsey, how much is Daboll and how much is Palmer.

Chiefs now have 2 preseason games and a bye week

I'm as confident that the Steelers will not win 2 games as all the folks were that the Steelers wouldn't lose to the Bengals. -
99.9% chance wk. 17 will matter to Bills
Captain Caveman replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean like the five people in this thread that reminded you and others about the Jets game that just happened yesterday? Upsets happen every week, and Pittsburgh is a train wreck, so it's not even that big of an upset. -

Probably, but we certainly would have said the same about the Jets yesterday against the Rams. One other thing - regardless of whether Pittsburgh gets the 2 seed or not, how likely are they to win their first game? I feel like as long as we get the #3 seed or higher there's still a pretty good chance we get 2 home playoff games (or even 3 if Baltimore keeps playing like they are and pick off KC.) -

Maybe, it's not like Jaguars have a history of developing talent at quarterback or elsewhere. -
