That is exactly the problem. The NFL doesn't resemble the same league it was 50 years ago,or 20 years ago for that matter. It is a different business with free agents, big contracts, not to mention the mentality of the athletes is night and day from years ago. Ralph still runs it like it is the old AFL, that is why we have the worst organization in the NFL and will never be a winner as long as he is at the helm. That is true he has paid a few guys big contracts like Evans, but that is because he has to, in order to meet the minimum salary requirements.

As I said a few months ago after the draft and got mauled on this board, watch in about 3 or 4 years when Clausen is in the Pro Bowl and we will see how it was a mistake to pass him up.

It is far too early now to give up on a first round pick, especially switching to a defense that supposedly will fit him better. I say, like you, give him until about this time next season to improve, if not dump him in the final cuts before the season starts in 2011 (if there is a season, that is).

I like your optimism, but don't get to far ahead of yourself, you are only setting yourself up to be disappointed. It was only preseason, just like the disaster against the Redskins was the week before. Don't expect much from this team and maybe you will be pleasantly surprised instead of annually disappointed.

I think the only decision left to be made at the QB position is between Fitz and Brohm as the backup. Brohm might have more potential upside if he ever reaches it, but with Fitz you know what you are getting.

They might want to let him play to showcase him, maybe they can get a draft pick or something for him instead of just cutting him in a few weeks and getting nothing for him.

Wow? We are doing good on the injury front? We had two bright spots pretty much from the 2009 season, Fred Jackson and Jairus Byrd-both undergoing surgeries or recently had surgery. We lost two previous 1,000 yard rushing running backs in the first series of the first preseason game. We lost one of our draft pick receivers for the season, one who actually looked like he was going to get some playing time. We lost another young receiver in Nelson. Poz is coming off of a surgery, where he hasn't really done anything in camp yet, so how much will he be behind in getting in football shape when he actually is cleared to play contact football? The first preseason game, 1 of the 5 starters on the OL were able to play because of injuries, one of them coming off of a devastating knee injury/surgery where the jury is still out on how much he will recover (this on an O-Line that was one of the worst in the NFL to begin with). We are 25% through the preseason with all these injuries so far, so I wouldn't say preseason is breaking our way in the area of injuries. I don't know about you or anyone else, but my fingers will be crossed for the next three games hoping nobody else is injured and this 2+ year curse of injuries finally stops with the Bills.

Regardless of who anyone wants to win the job, or who will win the job, are you close enough to the situation and with each of the 3 quarterbacks to know this? You can't relate the ability to play with wanting something. I wanna be a rock star more than anything, but I don't know how to play an instrument, that doesn't lessen the want?

Exactly. From top to bottom OBD are the ones that should be counting months and years since the playoffs and not spending all their time counting dollars. Maybe every year that goes by without making the playoffs, someone in the FO can be shot or put in isolation at Attica, might give them a little urgency or reason to see the need to try to win.
