But I think this topic is stupid. I'm not sure that I'm all for DJ, I was a little concerned when we got him, but I've never ragged on the guy (other than call him Skeletor). I've also never praised him either, both of which you have apparently done, when it seems advantageous to your cause for the day. Just because he plays nice to the media doesn't mean he doesn't lay down the law to the players. Remember when we said how vindictive the Bills were when they IR'd Crowell? It was ultimately not DJ's decision, it was our front office, but DJ still played a significant role. Everyone seems to forget too that both Fewell and Schonert are the same mold as DJ. Fewell (say what you want about him) screams at his players (usually explicative laden) when they do something wrong. So just because DJ keeps an even keel at least publicly, that doesn't mean he tells his assistant coaches to follow the same path. He gets his message across, even if it is indirectly. My point is to keep the banter down about the guy, AT LEAST til we have a losing record. Everyone wanted him to be coach of the year 4 weeks ago, now you're calling for his head? You all sound like Pats* fans with the bandwagon attitude. And believe me, I would assume being called a Pats* fan would be the worst honor bestowed in sports.

Not only the pick, remember the deep ball that he batted down too? I can't recall which quarter or who the throw was to (sorry I was a little intoxicated) but Greer was falling and he got about 2 fingers on the throw to make sure the ball didn't fall in the receivers hands. I would love to lock this guy up, but the real question is, does he really want to stay in Buffalo? He was pretty ticked when we picked up THREE CBs in the draft, and signed Will James. The News did a story on it; he was out to dinner with his wife and he said he face turned white. The competition obviously pissed him off in a good way, but now when the front office needs him, do you think he would resign, or tell 'em to !@#$ off? I obviously do not see Greer thinking twice if the Bills management ask him for a "hometown discount..." then again I might be confusing sports...only Darcy Regier seems to act in such a way; the Bills management usually overpays if they keep their guys. I think what is going to happen in March is that a bunch of teams that already have a great or above average corner will throw some big money at Greer in the offseason for a chance at a good tandem, maybe throw him between #1 and #2 money for a corner. But hey, teams have overpayed before, and they might just give him real top 5 top 10 money, just because they can. If I was the Bills, I would try and sign him now. But then again, if he's smart he'll probably wait til March. I'd be happy with a 4 year 16-18 mil deal. Sign it, get it over with, lock him up, or he's gone.

He picked some great players and got some good free agents, yeah, and he did a damn good job about the salary cap mess. But what about the coaching choices? What about the fact that HE picked a QB to solve the "QB mess" as Mort calls it, and it didn't pan out. What about about the arrogant draft choices with the mentality of "I'm better than the rest of the league?" And what about the dictatorial nature of his reign in buffalo? Mort's response is sad. He carefully says he HAD "admiration for" bills fans "in the past," which he obviously doesn't anymore. And his whining abut "mean spirited and vindictive" fans? Are you serious? You are an F'n reporter...you write mean spirited things all the time...talking about how this coach/player/gm/owner needs to get fired/head screwed on tight all the time. Writers will always get flak from whichever fan base or group of people they offend...its just a part of the business. The good one's don't take it too personally, since they say the same things to the people who they offend in the news when they see them. I can't believe this guy still has a job.

Ball St is #16 this year. They still might have a chance to be BCS eligible if they run the table and a few other teams ahead of them lose some games.

Ehh I understand what you are saying but not entirely true. Just because its a 4-3 defense doesn't mean you can't have pass rushing specialists as LBs on your team. For example, Seattle runs a 4-3 and Julian Peterson is their pass rushing threat opposite Pat Kerney. You are correct in what you say about scheme though, and our defensive scheme and Seattle's hardly match. But it wouldn't hurt to have a guy that has the talent to rush the QB at the LB position; that talent doesn't doesn't always have to go hand in hand with scheme....we could still get a guy that would get 6-7 sacks a year that might get 10-12 in a 3-4. Where scheme plays a factor is the speed of the guy...our tampa 2 relies on fast speedy LBs (that would have a tougher time blitzing regularly), and most 3-4 LBs are twice the size of Schobel. You did bring up some good points though.

I got nervous on Saturday because I saw that fox denver broke the story...couldn't find the link but it was reported on the buffalo bills board here -http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?t=90528 the thing is though - when I was watching the dolphins game, I couldn't image the NFL playing those United Way commericals showing Donte Whitner play with kids, preaching that they should stay "fit" if he was taking weight loss/masking agents. I also couldn't see the bills or the nfl allowing him to still be in the take a kid to school day program if he is going to be suspended. But, the NFL has done stupid things in the past, or at least gone against a message they have tried to promote, so I wouldn't put it past them IMO.

Did anybody hear anything else about the water pill test rumors that fox sports brought up over the weekend? They said it was a bunch of saints, the williams in Minn, and a bunch of other players, including Donte. I haven't heard much on this since then, and ESPN has not reported much about it, or linked Donte. Are we in the clear yet? Sorry if I'm making a new post if its not necessary, haven't seen anybody talk about this on here yet.

I've said before that the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the OL. I don't think he dances too much before he hits the line, but can you blame him if he does? The line has played horribly in the 1st six games, and I think it might have changed the way Marshawn hits the hole. He might be so worried about not getting hit behind the line that when holes do open up, he uses the same style of running he used when he had an LB and a DT in front of him behind the line of scrimmage. Nothing a good week of game film and coaching can't correct. But as I said, I don't think he dances too much; I think he hits the line hard. There were maybe 2 plays (out of 13 carries) where I thought he was hesistant, and I firmly believe it was because of the above theory. But hey, just a theory and my 2 cents.

Listen, BuffaloBillsfan4life responded to your preposterous comment about how "marshawn's vision was blurry" with a solid counterpoint. Anybody accusing Marshawn off poor field vision needs to check their TIVO and watch that TD run again. The dude juked out about half the defense on the run, and BB4life simply made your comment about "poor vision" look silly. Who are you comparing it to? What does that even mean? Where did he say in his quote whatsoever anything about comparison? There wasn't a better TD run this weekend, if any comparisons are being made to that. Sounds like you need YOUR vision checked sweetie. I think you should slowly read his screen name, figure out the meaning, and stop looking at simple box score stats to make your analysis. Marshawn is the life blood of this offense, and if our fat lazy Offensive line can figure out how to run block, he might actually live up to the expectations of being be one of the best backs in the game. But unlike Marshawn, I don't have the same expectations of you, since you obviously don't know much about football, or this team for that matter. On second thought, I think you should stop posting. It will do us all good.

Agreed. I am completely befuddled at the back and forth adoration and hate of Donte Whitner. It is rediculous. At first I thought the hate was only coming from this Jimmy Page bastard, but it has appeared to surge in full force on this board. Get ready for more of Jimmy's ridiculous analysis later in the week, for it sure is coming. Any guesses who it will be targeted to this time? I bet he'll say Lee Evans is a piece of trash and Edwards plays scared.

I don't see how this is a puss*y way of dong it. They are playing a bush league type of offense, and their lining their QB up as a WR. He's TRYING to block, and on these plays he is not a QB he is a WR. He needs to get hit, and hit hard. I don't see how this is illegal, immoral, whatever you want to call it, and I don't see how it would be a 15 yarder. WR get blown up all the time for trying to block a CB. Chad should have been hit.

I kept hearing from analysts all year that one way to stop the wildcat is to kick the sh"t out of the quarterback when he lines up out wide. The QB is fair game to get his ass kicked on these plays. Miami won't run that play again if Pennington goes to the sideline limping. I thought the Bills were going to be the team to change that. Then I watch as our CBs let Pennington push them out of the way or run past him. Hell, I even saw Donte get wrecked by Pennington! You can argue that the NFL rumor of juicing was completely wrong by watching that replay. But really, why didn't Pennington get blown up? As a defender, don't they relish plays where they can have a free hit on the QB? My only guess is the coaches feel like they would be wasting a defender on a play like that. But what about when they run to the other side? Or can't you hit the guy, get up and still have time to make a play on Ronnie or Ricky?

Royal: everyone knows he probably one of the better blocking TEs in the league. That is a fact. But the guy wears cement gloves to every game, and seems to make one fumble/dropped pass a game. It is absurd. I hope this is his last year here, or at least his last year as a starter. I'd love for him to be our #2, but no more. The McKelvin stuff here is kinda ridiculous. Everybody loved McKelvin on this board during preseason in the KR game. He had IT. How many TDs could he have put in if he didn't get tripped up by the last guy? He played great his first couple of games at KR. Now he's playing DB, and I'm sure he's spending less of his time focusing, concentrating, and practicing with special teams. This is probably the problem. The explosiveness factor: he isn't hitting the holes like he did his first few games, and I think good coaching will point that out on tape. It might be smart to scale the rookie back and let our other good KR take over. His CB skills will get better with time. You can't call out a rookie 7 games in to the season. That's rediculous. At least let the kid have 16 games and another offseason before the pitchforks come out.
