Official Trent Edwards Excuse Thread...
High Mark replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know "Trentative Checkwards" has playing poorly. Ill be the first to admit it. But you can only hate on Trent if you think other QBs could be successful in the same situation. Jay Cutler, Brady Quinn, Tyler Thigpen, they all would suck with our OL play, our running game, and our offensive play calling and design. Peyton Manning, IMO, is the only QB in the NFL who could play great if he was on our team in 2010. That leaves 31 other QBs who would be less than average. So while yes I agree 100% Trent has been terrible ever since week 6 of last season (minus KC) I just cannot point the finger at him before first pointing at the OL play and coaching. PS Our game plan crushed vrs KC, why give up on it? (I knwo KC sucked but our play design and play calls were great in that game and that created the success, not KCs terrible D) -
Ill hold my breath for 6 rookies starting, but I will suffocate if I wait for a winning record. It just wont happen. 4-12!

You are right, I was thinking the Chiefs? Not sure how I messed that up.

This happens very often with his picks, IE Mike WIlliams/JP Losman, and soo to be John McCargo. And those were first round picks. Please try and tell me the average poster here couldn't draft better than this bumb, at least in the first round or two. PS To make matters worse, Preston was taken just two picks before center Jason Brown.

While I agree with everything you say. I still think he is better than Fitz and Hamden, therefore, IMO, I think he would make our team better. Physically Thigpen reminds me of Losman with the arm and mobility, But I think his intangibles are much better than Losman's. If he is cut I see no harm in signing him and seeing what he can do.

The Falcons now run the 3-4 also. That's three non division teams using the 3-4. Takes us to 9 losses. Assuming we can beat the Titans, Colts, and all the other 4-3 teams on our schedule that are much better than us, we are 7-9, hell yea continuity!

Are you reffering to the Byrd pick? Seems to me Scott is our starter at SS, while Whitner and Byrd are both at FS?

The Bills passed on one for the other, when 99% of the football world would have done the opposite. The Bills and Ravens have similar systems, and that is the point. The Ravens routinely have a superb front 7 while the Bills routinely draft DBs. The problem is that average DBs look great with a great front 7, while great DBs look average with an average front 7. The Ravens have it figured out, you see Ed Reed, the best safety in the game, would be nothing without the Ngatas and Suggs the Ravens have. Donte may be an Ed reed for another team.... too bad he isnt on another team then huh. Without a D line all the DBs in the world wont get you a good D. We put the cart before the horse by taking a S before a DT, and there is no argument for the contrary.

Easterbrook calls it, as we all see it...

The best assesment of the Bills I have ever read. A+ -
The cost of resigning or signing a starting QB
High Mark replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clearly the Bills would not pony up the Bucks to sign a veteran QB. See 2004... neglect to sign Pro Bowler Dree Brees, instead trade up to draft JP Losman. -
What it takes to be a good NFL QB
High Mark replied to Nervous Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But I thought that being the QB made you good looking? You know, the same way being rich and/or famous makes you good looking. -
I voted Anti because of Ngata. He now has more career pics vrs the Jets than Donte does....One!

Aaron Maybin's first step is unreal!!
High Mark replied to DELLAPELLE JOHN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Between our FO, scouts and DJ, this team is perpetually undermanned and under coached. 6 wins is the ceiling on this football team. I am interested to see how quick a 250lb Maybin is rather than the 220lb Maybin. -
This season is probably a wash and most know it
High Mark replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Try college football. Pick a team like Texas, Florida, USC. They are good every season, and you will rarely be let down. Early season prediction: Florida over Texas in the Nat'l Championship game. (same prediction as last year) -
Chargers QB Rivers gets contract extension
High Mark replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am assuming a new CBA will get done. I feel thats a safe assumption as well because the owners know it could ruin the league long term. I also feel that a rookie cap system will be put in place. I am just hoping we could land one of their key players that align with out positions of need. They will have a hard time signing those guys if a new CBA ia agreed upon. -
The Bills could have cut Kelsay and Schoebel
High Mark replied to jwws9999's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fixed PS: dont confuse the past with the present -
According to Goodell: Roger>>>>>>>>God

As expected, Phillip Rivers signed a lucrative contract extension today. It is a 6 yr deal worth $93 Mil and $38 Mil guaranteed. http://blogs.usatoday.com/thehuddle/2009/0...guaranteed.html This deal is worth less than Eli's, but more money is guaranteed. As wishful thinker, this may impact the Bills 2010 off season. Chargers players RB Darren Sproles, WRs V. Jackson and C.Chambers, LT McNiel, And LB Merriman are ALL free agents. I have a hard time believing they can resign all, or even half, of these players. I believe Merriman is the odd man out as the Chargers extend Merriman's backup last season to a high dollar deal and drafted Larry English. Merriman could play LB or DE for the Bills in 2010. A long ways off and very wishful thinking but hey, above all things you have to have hope to be a Bills fan.

Would two more weeks of practice helped Maybin?
High Mark replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, not with our coaching staff. Him being absent for those two weeks may have saved him many valuable football traits otherwise eradicated from his repertoire by our pop-warner level coaching. -
Packers game sucked but what has me more worried?
High Mark replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Th worst part is we have so much money tied up in these guys its obsurd. We will be living with their cap hits next season too if we dont cut them THIS season. -
Very revealing Gaughan article
High Mark replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edwards is taking stabs at the coaching staff being as subtle as he can be. There is no reason for him to reveal that kind of stuff. What he is saying "Hey look...we never prepare..." -
Agree and disagree. The back ups have looked a lot better but go against easier competition. Edwards has not looked good but I wouldnt say Fitz is better by any means. Meanwhile Ellis/Bryan >>>>> Schobel/Kelsay, and Nic Harris, just as I predicted on draft day, is our best OLB. Bell has played well at LT, but honestly Walker has held his own too. Steve Johnson was back this week and is better than Parrish IMO. I haven't noticed many plays from Stroud, but he is probably triple teamed on every play. Bottom line is you are right. The seconds could beat the starters. Chalk that up to another coaching deficiency... not being able to evaluate talent. Maybe that goes hand in hand with out 1st round draft success in recent years?

Is it time to think about looking for a new QB
High Mark replied to flomoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I for one will not judge any Bills player until our coaching staff is satisfactory. Exceptions include players that obviously suck like Losman, Kelsay etc. Not one single player on our team is put in a position to succeed. Trent, being the QB, should not be judged either until he has something resembling a pocket. Therefore, I believe the question should remain -- When do the Bills bring in a qualified coach? -
Kelsay, Schobel, McCargo, Ellison, Carey Harris, Seth McKinny, all thos extra WR we have, and Hamden. Hamden because only a second rate run franchise would keep a 30 year old career 3rd string QB on the roster. Really, are they sitting there thinking "If our top two QBs are injured, we really think we can still win with our third string guy" BS The third QB spot is for a rookie/developmental guy, not some Vet. Third QB should spend a max of two/three seasons on the team. After which he is promoted or cut. This is in an attempt to find the next Kurt Warner. Thats how good teams do it. See: Romo, Warner, Hasselback,
