Throwing in Justice lowers the trade value.
-
Well similar to Peters, it makes you wonder why there is such a lack of interest in Boldin for a 1st round pick. The Dols are looking for a WR and have the 25th overall pick. Surely Boldin would be better than any WR they could pick there.
-
They don't want to.
-
Not a bad move by the Rams. For the cost of a plane ticket, they could net themselves a 2nd rounder from the Seahawks, to trade-up from 4th overall.
-
If not for his actions at the end of the NFCCG, I'd rather have Boldin. But we can't go back in time or take back Evans' contract.
-
The Giants pick at the end of the 2nd round. I doubt the Card will accept that.
-
Yeah, it will cost a 2nd rounder...and $10M/year plus $20M guaranteed to sign him.

Patriots trying to move into the top 10
VOR replied to In space no one can hear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see the Patriots trying to work-out a potential trade with Jax, should the player they want be there. And the Jags saying no (good for them!). And it could very well be Pettigrew. I remember Belichick, when he was HC of the Browns, trading-up to try and take TE Kyle Brady in the 1995 draft, only to see the Jets take him the pick before. Belichick reportedly blew a gasket, traded-down, and selected JJ Stokes. -

Crabtree. -
Hopefully if he's the guy they're targeting, someone offers a trade down a couple of spots, and they select him later, with an extra pick in tow.

The Panthers don't have many options at QB. Cutting Delhomme would put them over the cap. They don't have a 1st rounder to trade for a QB, or to draft one and have him start. And Delhomme has been a steady QB, despite his horrible playoff game (looks like the Panthers outsmarted themselves, passing the ball and ignoring their top-ranked rushing attack). Moreover, the Panthers need cap room, to give them all the leverage WRT trading Peppers for high picks. So I can see it. I don't know if I agree with it, but like I said, it's not like they had many options.

The Bills suck because they have TOO many scouts. Yeah, that's the ticket.

You'll then also want a shot of penicillin on standby.

Why demanding the 21st pick, instead of 28
VOR replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With no other team (except for reportedly the Giants, who own the 29th pick) wanting to trade for Peters, the way he handled last off-season, and played during the season, the Bills getting a 1st (even if it was "just" the 28th overall), 4th, and conditional 6th was pretty good -
Tony Gonzalez traded to Atlanta

Or it may just mean that Pettigrew goes to Philly at 21. I hope that if he's the guy they're targeting, they trade down several spots, if they can. -
Casserly's opinion of the tackles

I'm not happy that Peters is gone (well, at least the Peters of 2006-2007). I supported him up to a point last year, but thought the protracted holdout was stupid and childish and that the Bills were right to not cave into his demands until he reported and showed he was healed from his late-2007 season injury. Maybe it was his agent more than anything, but the agents work for their clients, not the other way around. I was less-than-impressed with his performance last season, and thought he should have regained his dominance after just a month, but now think that his groin injury robbed him of his special talent. And after hearing his PC with the Eagles, I knew the Bills made the right choice in trading him. Tucker's questioning why the Eagles were the only team to go after him despite there reportedly being 4 teams ready to take an OT in the top-10 and pay them close to what Peters got despite being wholly unproven, leaves me at peace with the situation. Peters is an ass, plain and simple. I hope he fails miserably in Philly and the picks the Bills get prove to be good ones. For the Bills to rescue him from the scrap heap, develop him, and take a chance with him and his contract extension, and then to be treated like this, it shows inexcusable disrespect and/or an inordinate ego. -

Bell has as much athleticism as any of the "top" OT's in this year's draft, and has the advantage of a year in the Bills' system and strength and conditioning program. And I would hope the Bills didn't trade their LT for the 28th pick, and then turn around and draft his replacement at #11. -
Eagles G Shawn Andrews on the trading block...

Looks like Shawn hired Eugene Parker. Good for him. -

As a unit, they were sub-par last year as well. So what has changed, except for jettisoning a guy who admittedly gave a half-hearted effort last year and replacing him with a youngter who while inexperienced, has great size and athleticism, and will be sure to at least give his best effort every Sunday? -

It's all relative to the other draft prospects. Outside of Crabtree, Curry, and maybe Stafford (just because he's a QB), there are no great prospects at other positions. -
This is interesting. Curry will reportedly take the same or less than Jake Long got last year. That in turn affects the rest of the draft. So Stafford stands to lose money either way, but if he balks, loses being the #1 overall pick as well. Another thing to consider is that Curry has a lot lower to fall if he's not picked #1 overall than Stafford does. Some mocks have him falling to the Bills' pick, whereas Stafford will probably be gone in the top-4.

Blame the Peters Trade on the Stupid Owners...
VOR replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While Gleason is dead-on WRT there needing to be a true cap on the dollars each rookie gets, and that this has been long overdue, this really had nothing to do with Peters' situation. Recall that once Peters cleaned-out his locker at the end of the season, the Bills didn't see or hear from him. And Long was a surprising 1st overall pick last year around this time, i.e. almost 5 months after the season ended. So it's not like Peters waited until after Long was drafted/signed that he pulled his stunt. And who knows from where Peters' dissatisfaction truly came? Was he going to hold-out for more money even if the Bills hadn't redone Schobel's contract early, or if they hadn't signed Dockery and Walker to more money? Was it mostly Eugene Parker? Did McNally's words that he was the most talented LT he's worked with besides Munoz go to his head? No one will know for sure. -
Let me save you some angst and tell you that it wasn't an opinion, for the reasons I mentioned. The only way the Bills lose-out is if Peters regains his 2007 form AND the Bills don't have a viable plan to replace him. While I don't see that happening, it could, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Apparently the official signing was after FA started, but the contract was in the works. So good to know they more or less locked-him-up before anyone else could go after him.
-
Nope, he signed a few days after FA started.
