after, but that's besides the point... The wife and I sat downed and tuned into the Olympics' coverage and that happened to include Fairies on Ice. Mixed in those moments were the men's slalom...

FWIW, he claims not to have really spent any of it. and I don't believe you. Despite what some people say, there aren't many people who want to sit around and do nothing for the the next 70 years and I'm pretty sure he has a lot of internal anguish over his missed opportunities no matter what his bank account says.

He was just interviewed on the Dan Patrick show. Wow... It was a nice interview. He seems to have the maturity of a 50 year old man now as opposed to the 10 year old when he played. He was humble, he had perspective... When asked what he thought about being the punch line of so many jokes he came back with a lyric: "I think the world of myself. It's just that the world doesn't think much of me..."

I tried to reach Dick Enberg to ask him to cancel that portion of the coverage last night, but he was too busy to take my call...

I was watching the men's short form figure skating tonight and my friggin' gaydar shorted out. Anyone know where I pick up a new one before the long form begins?

I think this is an unfair knock against Anna. She won a doubles tournament and she was what - a top 10-15 player? If you are a top 15 player IN THE WORLD - you are pretty damn good. "Kournikova was a member of the Russian delegation to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1997, as a 16-year old, she reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon, where she lost to the eventual champion, Martina Hingis by a score of 6-3, 6-2. 1998 was her breakthrough year, when she broke into the WTA's top 20 rankings for the first time and scored impressive victories over Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport, and Steffi Graf. Kournikova's two Grand Slam doubles titles came in 1999 and 2002, both at the Australian Open in the Women's Doubles event with partner Martina Hingis, with whom she played frequently starting in 1999." I dunno, maybe she didn't win Wimbledon, but she made it to the semi's and lost to the eventual champ. I find it hard to criticize that.

She got 22"... 2" eleven times.

that's it... because of the GoBills! email list. I never knew Yahoo provided that info across stores. Thanks to all!

the point was that it was from two different computers - home and work.

just typed it in (i.e. there was no session info in the URL). Nice guess though.

So, last night I was shopping for skates at HockeyMonkey.com from my home computer. I put 5 pairs of skates in my shopping cart, so that I could view them later. This morning, I am at work and I wanted to put those same 5 skates in my cart, so that I could talk to a CS agent about them. Well, when I placed my 1st pair in my cart - up came the original 5 from last night! WTF? I have never ordered a piece of hockey equipment from them or anyone else in my life. I have never setup an account, nor given them any information about who I am. Yet, they were able to determine who I was across two machines from two separate locations? Is there a logical explanation for this that doesn't include the chip implanted in the back of my neck, or them lifting info off my computer seripticiously?

Sorry to harp on this point, but you bring this up all the time and it is just false. He was rehired ONCE. He had two double digit win seasons in Philly and only one losing season.. and that was only a 7-9 record. I hardly think that disqualified him from being recycled with another team. He was a complete disaster with the Jets, but you are erroneously using his history with the Jets as a means to disqualify him for the Jets job and you are also exaggerating the number of times the guy was rehired. Straw men make weak arguments.

you could take this one step further and make a case that you would have to poll all players/former players/and assistant coaches and find what percentage of those actually aspire to be a HC... The numbers may be the same, but I wouldn't assume it either.

Not to defend Rich Kotite, but the guy only had two HC jobs... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/KotiRi0.htm

wasn't Alex Haley found out to be a fraud who either made up or lifted much of the information (and claimed it as his own personal history) that made it into Roots?

Hurley was on the radio and said to pay special attention to the restaurant scene. I did not realize who the waitress was. How do you know it was her? What is the significance?

Probably the best episode that I can remember... So, is Sawyer's con really over in the flash back? I can see several more layers developing there if they revisit his backstory. The Charlie twist was played beautifully... very, VERY well done.

Actually, a Cornell reject... My point is not to denigrate (well, as an engineer I'm sort of obligated to razz the liberal arts majors wherever they have studied ), but to say that I would neither look up, nor look down at any Ivy League undergraduate. However, it appears I may be in the minority, so I am just trying to guage other people's opinions...

Ironically, I was going to point out that if someone told me in conversation that they went to Harvard/Yale and studied history the following things would go through my head: 1a: This person must have been pretty accomplished in high screwel or 1b: This person must be the offspring of an alumni or 1c: This person is filthy rich.... 2: Why did this person waste 4 years? I hope they got more ass than a toilet seat at least... 3. Yawn... To restate my original point - it appears as though people make over the top statements w/ regards to their intelligence simply based on the fact of where they went to school. Maybe I'm not as easily impressed at someone's undergraduate/Master's degree as others. Now, if someone went through Harvard Law or Harvard Med, etc... then to me, that is where I tip my hat. However, an undergraduate history degree from any school makes me giggle... I'm sorry if that offends you.
-
A question for the board.... Is it really THAT impressive that someone received their undergraduate (or even their Master's) from Harvard or Yale? I understand that it is probably unique among NFL coaches, but I don't understand the fawning over this issue. ESPECIALLY when they majored in such subjects as history. Might as well have majored in beer and tail if you ask me. Anyhow, Harvard med/law is one thing... Undergraduate study in the liberal arts from these schools produces a great big yawn from me.

How many "new" posters are actually new???
SDS replied to Outkast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Although I might be able to guess who they aren't, it doesn't necessarily mean I know who they are... Also, I don't think it can be assumed this person was escorted out previously by me... there are many paths to becoming an "outcast". -

FWIW, I see no evidence that anyone in this thread is on the right track with "OutKast"... -

most of them are new. The reason for the uptick are the changes that have been made to the front office. Everyone tuned out in the regular season, but tuned back in once the final miserable gun sounded.
