  1. I bought two, which I owe you money for.
  2. After a long, rough week - I'm finally back home. I returned on Friday night to blistering heat and no phone/TV/internet (FIOS). I just got the service fixed this morning. My mother passed peacefully Sunday morning with me and my sister by her side. She let go a few minutes after her husband left. She claimed he was the "perfect man" for her, but I know a lot of that had to do with his loss of hearing. She battled AML (Leukemia) since September. The cancer was gone, but it was likely to return (80%) and perhaps even quickly (3 months? 1 year?... who knows). Her only potential cure was a bone marrow transplant. We found a match in Feb., but it ultimately wasn't good enough. She needed to be symptom free after the BMT for 100 days to have statistics on her side. She made it to day 90. What was supposed to be a couple days in the hospital turned into 9-10 weeks. She never left. Her mind was strong and she fought to the end, but her body could no longer cooperate. The GVHD she was fighting (body rejecting the bone marrow) took too much out of her. The steroids were devastating and the recovery never materialized. Bucky Gleason wrote a wonderful piece in the Buffalo News on her life. I am forever grateful to him. His last line will stay with me forever as will his words stay with my mother (we printed them and laid them by her side). Her arrangements were a celebration of her life in harness racing. I highly recommend Michael Tomaslewski's Funeral Home in Batavia. He did an amazing job and his facility is top notch. I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. It means a great deal to me. There was even one member over at SabreSpace who came to the wake. That was was truly very special to me... I hope I can return the kindness you all have shown me someday. Here is the top of my mother's vault. My best friend from high school's company does these special applique's. They did an amazing job:
  3. I too vacation in Emerald Isle, but PTR hit the high points. I was just there two weeks ago.
  4. oh god, that was WAAAAAAY before '89. That was probably closer to 84.
  5. Those who are sympathetic with the plight of the robbers I think are generally dismissive to the after effects of such crimes as robberies against the victim. My wife is a pharmacist and regardless of whether the victim wanted money or drugs - if there is a gun pulled on her, it is game over for her career. I doubt she would ever go back. Years of schooling, the post-traumatic syndrome... Pulling a gun on someone, even w/o the intent to use it - is NOT victimless. It isn't just a crime of property. You are messing with people's minds, their careers, their lives. Do I think this guy should have done what he did? No, but I'm not losing any sleep over what he did either.
  6. Dude. Rediscover women.
  7. Due to the smaller audience, SabreSpace is the logical "sandbox" choice to do redesigns. I've done half-redesigns a dozen times , but this one will be for real. Right now, I'm just struggling on how to handle/display the current press articles with anything we generate.
  8. this is what you eat after riding your bike?
  9. I'm beginning to think you'll say anything, at anytime, if you think it might be even loosely associated with your crusade. It doesn't even have to make a lick of sense. You just fling it out there. The 1st bolded line has everything to do with the actual smoke smell and nothing to do with smokers being bad people. HTF could you have possibly made that connection is beyond me. Secondly, I'm starting to get a bee in my bonnet on the second bolded part. 1st, people who didn't support your view were called trained seals, then they were called submissive, and now they are like sheep. Is this direction you want to go down? Have you really thought through this line of argument? Speaking for myself, I am free of any chemical addiction and that includes caffeine. I can go through my day, my week, my life and only seek those things that sustain life. No one has their hooks in me. What about you Bill? What do you do when you go down to the 7-Eleven? It seems to me you walk through the 7-Eleven doors, genuflect to your Indian overlord, pay your $5-$10 tithe, then go back the next day and repeat the same process. Who is the trained seal here Bill? Who is submissive to who? Who is the sheep being herded here and herded there to get their nicotine fix that Phillip Morris trained you to have and you have been submissive to all these years? So please, don't project your weakness on the people who reject your viewpoint. They are not at fault here.
  10. Which brings up the socks... If the sock striping is supposed to match the sleeve striping - shouldn't these guys have switched socks?
  11. look at the diff: http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t138/Mikey82_photos/Buffalo%20Bills%20Season%202011/06_24_11%20Buffalo%20Bills%20Uniform%20Unveiling/Photo061.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t138/Mikey82_photos/Buffalo%20Bills%20Season%202011/06_24_11%20Buffalo%20Bills%20Uniform%20Unveiling/Photo058.jpg the numbers on Kelly look bad.
  12. Not sure if the diff was replica or authentics Mike, but there is a huge diff between what Kelly is wearing and what the servicemen are wearing. The space around the "Bills", the thick navy line on Kelly's and Thomas's jerseys. That outline looks like a clown did it. However the wide space around the "Bills" looks awkward too.
  13. I'll be on WBEN this morning at 8:20a discussing the Bills uniform unveiling...
  14. Are looking for acceptance for being a menace to society for risking the lives of moms, dads, and kids a like because you are a selfish douchebag? You might want to look for approval elsewhere...
  15. A guy speeding in his Porsche, after drinking at a bar, kills himself and a passenger at 3:00a in the morning and y'all are slappIng him on that back and telling him to rest in peace? He just killed someone and assuming a third party wasn't the cause of the accident, I can think of a better place for him to spend eternity and it isn't in peace.
  16. I'm guessing it is leaking out the ear hole.
  17. I would like to see bonuses be no more than 10-15% of the value of the 1st 5 years of the contract.
  18. Just to make a clarifying comment (and I would like to thank JW because I think he read and understood my beef is with the arguments and not the smokers or the habit)... I don't belittle anyone's addiction, nor have I preached about any evils. My beef is with those making foolish arguments that are dismissive of MY experience. Ultimately, your lack of compassion for me (and other non-smokers) results in a lack of compassion for you and the wind is at my back on the issue. I also want to thank many of the ex-smokers who have shared their experiences on both sides of the issue. It is a shame more smokers don't take your words to heart.
  19. Why don't you start a new thread with your totally separate concerns Bill? Then I can offer a response to that issue where it belongs.
  20. I have a solution to asinine arguments put forth year after year... Offensive arguments so lacking in thought, logic, compassion, and the basic understanding of human anatomy that it can only be addressed with offensive replies... To anyone who has made the following arguments: being outside means smoking shouldn't bothersome to anyone smoking is just an unpleasant smell, much like the sight of an unattractive person Implication that your "right" or "freedom" to smoke supersedes another person's right/freedom to breathe reasonably clean air then I have the solution to come to a common understanding. You should be choked. Now, I don't mean choked to death, but you need to be choked. Here is how it would work: 1. Hand over $300 to start the process (this covers parking/food/entertainment) 2. The sensitivity administrator would put both hands around your neck and squeeze 3. Pressure on your neck would increase until you start to cough. 4. At that point, the pressure of the choke would be modulated so that subconscious breathing is no longer possible. Every breath requires thought. Every time you seek to breathe it is a conscious decision to attempt to oxygenate your blood. This will result in gasping, discomfort, watery eyes, headaches, nausea, and even holding your breath until you are forced to try and take in more air again. 5. This choke hold will be maintained for 4 hours. 6. While the choke is being applied, the sensitivity administrator will repeatedly say things to you like "we're outside, stop complaining, you can breathe", "Is this what it is like to see an overweight person?", "our military men and women choose to die for the right for me to choke you...", "Difficulty breathing isn't your issue, it is my drinking you should be worried about". 7. After 4 hours, the person being choked will be asked if they enjoyed their day.... I think that would help us all get on the same page.
  21. Thank you for proving nicotine causes retardation. This post is clearly unassailable proof.
  22. They could easily make beer $2 a cup and nachos a $1.50 too... but they ain't letting people go out to eat/drink at halftime and come back in. I would be shocked if a single NFL team re-entry.
  23. I've seen a few baseball/hockey arenas doing a quick search. No NFL stadiums so far. Some college football, but all the articles pointed to eliminating the practice.
  24. Hey Bill, just drop it because you have NO argument. The argument is that I can't breathe. It really isn't that hard of a concept. The smoke from YOUR cigarette goes into MY lungs and disrupts the normal breathing process. There is nothing you can say to that. Nothing. That is what happens. If an intoxicated person held me down and poured beer into my mouth and every 15 seconds - yes I would feel affected. I don't give a who smokes. The smoking areas at the stadium were fine by me, save for those who broke the rules and smoked in the seats. My parents smoked (both have cancer) and some of my best friends on the board smoke. I love them all. But for the LOVE OF GOD smokers need to drop their asinine arguments about their smoking not affecting other people and trying to make comparisons to other situations. I swear nicotine is the leading cause of retardation in this country. I have never heard of such a thing... until now!
