Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things, and why we need it
Ray Stonada replied to Ray Stonada's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thanks Gunner, always appreciate your thoughts. And, ha! I skipped number 3! Whoops. I totally agree with your point above... balanced offense is great in theory, but Josh needs to get into a rhythm and then he's unstoppable. I see no problem with Cook getting 20 carries a game and Josh passing/running 35 times. But up the urgency and tempo and let him go to work. PS I was in London for the Chiefs game and went to the Fitzrovia Belle (top end of Tottenham Ct Road), awesome place to watch a game... lots of Buffalonians and met lots of fun Bills fans from the UK too. -

Tyrell Shavers reminds me of John Stallworth....
BillsFanForever19 replied to Kelly to Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. He made the most of increased reps today and he did surprise me. I have been pretty outspoken about my thoughts on him to this point, which were not good. And while I was pleasantly surprised today, we were going up against the 24th ranked Pass Defense that notoriously plays their Safeties low, often to a detriment. All that said, he did show something though. Which is a lot more than I can say for Keon Coleman and Elijah Moore this season (outside of Coleman's game Week 1). -

He should do. -

If shavers has a good game vs the Texans corners ... Look out. Even if it's just a few big catches -

For sure. Keon is a wasted spot and bad draft pick. Need to find a spot for Gabe on the roster. Is Beane ballsy enough to cut Keon for him? Probably not. -

Stallworth highlights.... You can definitely see the comp Praying đ he can be this for us. He's tough too -
We should sign Gabe Davis to the 53
Scott7975 replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Iâm not going to suggest who to cut but yes, Gabe needs to be signed. This is why I was surprised they signed Hardman so fast. I guess because they cut Codrington for him but so what? -

Agree with this. Bad Tampa pass D but my word I'd rather Shavers and Gabe rotating than Keon. He is a net negative to the offense. -

I am watching highlights of Bradshaw and Stallworth and I'm like holy crap. He does look like Stallworth. But you're right. Too much hype right now lol -

He had a great game today but I wouldnât get too hyped yet. Tampas passing defense isnât all that good. itâs a positive and some hope though -

Meanwhile Mahomie was crying for penalties all game long today. -
I really think this is a possible special wr. I do remember reading he was highly recruited but looking at his highlights and it's extremely similar to Stallworth. I know it's a lofty comparison but yesterday was different. Idk I'm probably wrong but I think there's definitely something there. His confidence is obvious. He's got that long lanky stride like Stallworth to get deep, but he's quick enough in short areas to create all kinds of problems for dbs. I'm excited Go bills!

We need to win this one to keep pace. They have a stout D but itâs beatable. Itâs a Thursday game which throws a wrinkle in it. Always tough to play on Thursday.

5 straight losses in Houston, last win there in 2006.

According to Cover 1, Coleman will be a healthy scratch
Doc Brown replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unless I'm missing something his profile picture has always been black so I wouldn't read too much into it. What we should focus on is we took him on as somewhat of a project and I don't think he has the maturity or work ethic to ever be anything more than a WR4/practice squad player. -
Will the Bills Win another game on the Road this season?
DeepPass replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
FAVORED doesn't mean a thing! They get FAVORED because of their recent reputation and success. Anyone who looks closely at their PEE-WEE defense will see the big p[picture. -
Youâre right but they still put up 488 total yards on offense from 11 drives to San Franâs 281 from 12... 2 bad throws that turned into INTs chasing the game, one trying to score at the end of the half and the other a late throw when he was scrambling to his right. Cardinals defense was abysmal. Not saying they would have won if it were better but the 9ers did whatever they wanted for most, if not all of the game. Texans defense is legit. Steelers defense has shown the capability to be top tier. Patriots still look competent even though theyâve tapered off from the first half of the year. Browns, nothing needs to be said. Eagles defense hitting their stride. Shut down an elite offense. That leaves the Jets who have been hit or miss and the Bengals who have been putrid. A backup on any of those 5 teams listed shouldnât be classed as a cakewalk. I heard the Saints, Patriots, Falcons and Dolphins were going to be wins. Borderline sure things. We lost 3 of them and someone found our way to close out the Saints game. Itâs a team effort. To boot, those same 5 teams have shown a very successful capability of running the ball for most or portions of the season.

Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things, and why we need it
GunnerBill replied to Ray Stonada's topic in The Stadium Wall
Some thoughts: On #1 - nobody wants Josh to be a glorified game manager. But the reality is this time runs it better than it passes it for the most part. That is because our weapons in the pass game struggle getting open. That is a bad Buccs secondary we played today and so unlike other games when Brady dialled up the deep shots, particularly on play action Josh went deep rather than checking down which he has been doing. I think he checked down once to Cook over the middle. Every other shot play he threw deep. He hasn't been doing that because guys haven't been open and I think Josh has been a bit safe in challenging tight windows. On #2 agree nobody here is a featured peice. I think running out of 11 occasionally to keep teams honest isn't the worst call but the Bills run it best in big personnel. They need to get out of the pitch obsession and get back to the trap and off tackle runs. When they ran some traps in the 4th Quarter Cook was back to churning out 5 plus most carries. On #3.... it's missing On #4 agree the D can't hold people. The 3rd down defense was a step back yesterday but partly because they lost too many 1st and 2nd downs. Generally since McD took over playcalling it has been much improved on 3rd down. Let's hope they get back to that next week. On #5 I don't understand but sure đ. On a serious note - I have always thought Josh is better when the ball is in his hand, he is high volume passing and can get intona rhythm. That said last year he won MVP in a more balanced offense. I do think the last few weeks other than when laser focussed vs the Chiefs he has looked a bit lazy in his fundamentals as a lower volume passer. So there is something finding an appropriate balance. -

the only thing Iâd say to this, and I mostly agree, is that Beane isnât constructing and drafting guys in a vacuum. McD has a lot of input. Maybe not so much on specific players but at least on team positional needs and direction. Iâm not even mad when they put all these pieces into defense. What Iâm actually mad about is that it isnât working out. Either the players suck or if they are good they get injured. Thatâs what actually makes me mad. also mad that they have had opportunities to get better receivers but he fails to close the deal and we end up with all mediocre players. Josh needs a stud on the outside. - Today

OP's post is nice. Our defense better get stops on 3rd downs somehow to make Josh Allen's genius miracle worker stuff mean anything. -
Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things, and why we need it
Ray Stonada replied to Ray Stonada's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ps "Sunday marked Allenâs second career game with 3-plus passing TDs and three rush scores. The only other player to do so was Otto Graham in the 1954 NFL Championship Game." One guy in the history of the NFL did it, and now Josh did it twice. Think about that. The crazy thing is, Josh is such a nice guy that he accepts it when the coaches try to turn him into a practice squad QB handing off and feeding Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel. He just says, âokay, coachâ and tries his best. We love that Josh is a cool and good, but the coaches gotta recognize they have a Marvel character playing QB, not Clark Kent.
