Axlerod Meets w/ Ailes

Recommended Posts

This would mean something if Fox was an actual news organization.

They may not be an actual news organization in the traditional sense, but since that doesn't exist any more, it's worth pointing out that from a ratings standpoint, Fox beats the snot out of everyone else, and it's not surprising that the WH is at a point where they realize that criticisms of the current administration from Fox trumps all the knob-bobbing that the rest of the networks do in support of the WH (see my previous post of CNN doing a fact-check of an SNL skit).

This is hardly surprising, coming from an administration that finds it necessary to hand out white lab coats to doctors invited for another health care reform speech/photo op on the WH lawn.

The National Socialist party beat the snot out of everyone else too... so?

I think you've got that backwards.

You mean 'government is a great keyboard on which the press can play?'

One election does not signify a trend, let alone a political truism. We'll see what happens in 2012. If it's a repeat of 2008, then maybe you've got something.

You don't think the media has been influencing elections for decades now or hell since the beginning of this country? The press does not just include TV.

Of course they do. Heck, Hollywood and your local churches do too. But not all influences are created equal, and not all are wielded in a disciplined and targeted manner.

IMO this last election cycle is the first one in which the overwhelming majority of the media essentially worked together to elect a candidate. But the circumstances were special - they saw their chance to be part of something historical, the first african-american president and all that. I suspect that by the next election their solidarity will have given way to individual interests and some return to journalistic professionalism.

Fixed that for you.

So maybe now we understand why CNN is working so hard knob-bobbing the WH while Axelrod meets with Ailes.

Because if you don't fall in line, as Robert Gibbs would say, "The only way to get somebody to stop crowding the plate is to throw a fastball at them. They move."

Regardless of what you think about Fox News, if the WH is going to spend a lot of time calling them "liars," they may not move the way Gibbs thinks they will.

Call me skeptical, but it looks like the meeting between Axelrod and Ailes didn't go so well. I don't recall a president ever getting so wee-wee'd up when the press doesn't bob his knob. It's getting a little embarrassing.

At the end of the day, their policies will dictate their failure, and it will be quite clear, not to just FOX but many other news media outlets that this administration has no !@#$ing clue in what they are doing.

Tax corporations and individuals higher than what they are already being taxed in a down economy.... BRILLIANT!!! :wallbash:

Spend money as if we have a tremendous surplus of cash in programs that don't work and watch our dollar decline. BRILLIANT!!! :wallbash:

These two factors will be the biggest downfall of not just this administration but our economy over the next decade. You can take that to the bank.

Ironic comment since, under Reagan, Ailes helped create the modern White House communications machine. I'm sure he smiled in approval at the uniformed doctors, as well as your false (ignorant?) manufactured outrage produced by his network.

I don't like the guy, but Ailes is a bloody genius. A master propagandist.
